Rao vows to win Blackburn fans' hearts
6:07pm Friday 18th January 2013 in Sport
By Andy Cryer, Blackburn Rovers reporter
BLACKBURN Rovers co-owner Venkatesh Rao has vowed to win the club's supporters' "hearts"- after insisting they would do anything it takes to earn a Premier League return.
Speaking in London, ahead of the family's expected Ewood visit tomorrow, Rao said there would be money for manager Michael Appleton in the transfer window.
He said: "No question, Michael Appleton will have the full support of the family. We will do whatsoever to keep him, the team and the fans happy.
"Everyone should work together and the positiveness is we should work together and go for the league, this is the most important message.
"Everyone needs to go up, not look at what has happened behind.
"I am very positive that one day we will win the hearts of the supporters. We are here to give support to the fans and say we are with them.
"We are looking to take the club up and whatever it takes we will do 100 per cent."
Rao also defended the appointment and subsequent sacking of former boss Henning Berg.
"The fans liked Henning Berg," he told Sky Sports. "He was a very popular guy.
"He knew the game, everyone liked him as a manager and he looked brilliant. But unfortunately it didn’t click and a decision had to be taken."

Unf*cking believable! The fans hated Steve Kean, he was the most unpopular guy at Rovers since time began, he didn't know the game and nobody liked him as manager but it took relegation and an absolute turmoil and mayhem before that decision was taken!
We've heard it all before Venkys, just pray Appleton does a decent job and doesn't just talk the talk like you footballing ignoramuses!

Of course they have mistakes but their biggest ones have been taking and acting upon the advice of charlatans.
If they really want to earn the support of the fans they need to continue to invest, wisely, and let the club be run by professional executives rather than flamboyant pundits and self serving agents. Give them the benefit of the doubt as I believe that they have been let down just as badly as we have.

I for one will NEVER forgive the damage and humiliation, they have caused this once proud club. They have shown nothing but contempt for the fans since day one, and in return, I have nothing but contempt for them.

The vast majority of Rovers fans will give Appleton every chance to succeed and that includes using their energies to get behind the team tomorrow as opposed to screaming abuse at those who spent millions to buy the Club when nobody else would.
Unfortunately the minority are likely to be more vocal than the majority who will be 'waiting and seeing'.
And fans wonder why we rarely see the owners!
Yes, their record to date is shocking but as we have no other options let's get behind the lads on the pitch and hope that the owners will eventually get it right.

I've vented my spleen in the most constructive of ways as is possible, but I'm a great believer in hope springs eternal particular when it comes to the beloved.
In 40 years of supporting our club this period as been the most gut wrenching I've experienced, and I have to believe the owners will eventually get it right for the long term ?
I am a layman in the bigger scheme of things regards BRFC, and for most part tend to lean toward the subjective in my opinion, but I know these people are no fools, but arguably stupid considering just what they have a responsibility for.
Ours as always risen from the flames bringing joy along the way. this is the last chance saloon for Venky, and I'm in good shape considering the last 4 games under Bowyer and Co.
I just hope the supporters of our beloved can begin to let subside the last years and all of us move on to better days ?
A solid performance culminating in a win for the new manager would be chuffing grand - here is to that pal ?

If we fall that far down the footballing ladder, under these idiots, you will still have a few happy clappers coming out with the same old 'positives' like, "I think Venky's have learned their lesson now" or "we've got to give this new manager time, his record is appalling, but I think he'll come good. We have to ignore the fact that he took Colwyn Bay down because he had to play some YTS lads" (some dope on here said that about MA's record at Portsmouth) Or maybe " Lets judge them after this transfer window" Or maybe one by RACISTPAL: "They pay the highest wages in the Blue Square"
Picture the scene, sometime in the future they don't care when. Rovers last "real" supporters Oddbollux, loonrover, bluebottle and the Accy Mangler discuss their superior knowledge of football finances whilst applauding Venkys bi-annual appearance at Ewood to an empty stadium. Whilst consoling themselves that Venkys are doing everything in their power to finally secure promotion from the Blue Square Premier, they remark on how pleased they are that there's no more "glory-hunters" that they have to tolerate and how we no longer have The Walker Trust or that fat Premiership manager at the club.
I could go on, but I'd be here all night. I'm sure you get the gist. How many more chances do they expect? How many more promises must they break? How many more lies will they tell? How much more damage will they do, before people say enough is enough?
Venky's OUT! Borat OUT! Shaw OUT! Happy Clappers OUT! OUT! OUT!
Here's reality for you.
VENKY'S BOUGHT AND OWN ROVERS LOCK TURNSTILE AND GROUNDS.
If they ever should walk out and do all those neighsayers doom and gloom predictions, there won't BE a ground to play on or the team to play on it.
As the dingles oft jest, there will be a Safeway or more aptly Tesco's built on the hallowed grounds and you will be able to delight in saying I told you so as you ungratefuly and grudgingly shop there to anyone who gives a **** - which will, in today's fickle moving world will be few.
"Happy Clappers" as you quite ignominiously and incorrectly deem to call us will continue to support the team in the hope that this doesn't happen and we can get Venky's to make amends and bring stability back to the club.
You can sit there moaning or join the many deluded pledgers who believe the sum total of Rhodes weekly salary will somehow buy them the club even if it went into administration, or go do something worthwhile with your time as Rovers is obviously not your club anymore.
You certainly won't be missed.

Of course they have mistakes but their biggest ones have been taking and acting upon the advice of charlatans.
If they really want to earn the support of the fans they need to continue to invest, wisely, and let the club be run by professional executives rather than flamboyant pundits and self serving agents. Give them the benefit of the doubt as I believe that they have been let down just as badly as we have.

.............. WHAT DOUBT ?????
Cannot believe after being relegated and escaping relegation on the last game of the previous season a comment of this stupidity is entered.....
I have openly stated that Venky have made monumental errors of judgement but we would not have survived in the Premiership under the old regime and whilst I have no allegiance to them, I WILL give them the benefit of the doubt for as long as they continue to prop up the club by making good the shortfall from former fans who can not, or will not continue their support.
Walkers trust wnated to sell, but kept the dignity of the club.
Venks started as the meant to go on without a care for the club or supporters. No real blame to walkers trust for selling to bad owners who talked good.
The first thing that any casual football person will know about Rovers is their lightening demise under your Venks, but Venks have never talked about how they're going to mess the club up, they can't help being ignorant and proud.

It's the ones that kept going all last season and then "saw the light" after we went down that get me.
What a crock of sh1t they come up with every week on here before a home game.
26000 on for that last game.Where are they all?
Tell you what, brother.I'd rather be a happy clapper than a pretender, because that's all they ever were, pretend supporters.

The ignorance and arrogance Venkys have displayed since they bought our football club is staggering, its almost as if Modan was running the place. They thought they were the rich, smart businessmen getting a cheap way to raise their global profile, but their mismanagement and awful judgement has been an operational disaster.
The Rovers fans that I know do not trust Venkys, have no respect for Venkys and will not believe a word they say until we see them actually invest the money required to put the club back where it was when they bought it.
I don't believe they have the integrity to do that, I hope I am wrong.

The clubs accounts have just been published (to June 2012) - where have you been !!!
They clearly show the situation - you have no need to do what LusoRovers and Givet82 do - which is, make up fantasy "Venky cash payments into BRFC".
FACT - Since leaving Barclays and banking with Bank of India they have borrowed £20m - which the club now owes - clearly shown in the accounts.
FACT - our outgoings exceed our incomings by approx £2m per month - our dept is expected to rise by this figure in the June 2013 accounts.
FACT - Mrs D wrote in the accounts that the club "does not have enough revenue streams, going forwards to cover its outgoings" - its written in black and white in the 2012 accounts.
FACT - £3.4m could not be verifed by the auditors - which probably means Venkys have had that money for themselves (prob in the guise of the house they bought - with CLUB money).
FACT - the accounts showed that Venkys put NOT 1 PENNY of their own cash into the club.
Don't believe me - simple, buy the accounts yourself from companies house and have a look at them.

I am no apologist for Venkys - just a pragmatic realist.
How long can these clowns hold a grudge because their beloved Lardarse got himself sacked?
Lets face it guys, that's what started all this off, a manager who didn't want to manage us getting himself sacked, the rest is history.
Don't get me wrong Venky's, ill advised or not have made some awful mistakes but for once I actually think they could have picked the right man for the job in Appleton, he talks a great deal of one thing that has been missing, common sense.
And he comes across as an honest, genuine bloke who went through the mill at Portsmouth.
Just remember, the last time Venky's turned up and the boo boys got their rocks off "Telling them like it is" we didn't see hide nor hair of them for 3 months, leaving Kean to run everything into the ground.
We can't afford for that to happen again with Shebby still sitting in the background, we need Venky's here seeing for themselves the damage they have caused.

Shouldnt they just MAN UP - if they get some stick - so what, they should be big enough to ACCEPT IT - not run away like timid school-girls.
Also, instead of V Rao giving us the same old PAP about "doing the right thing" why dosent just come out and APOLOGISE - that would easily take alot of bad feeling away from them and diffuse the situation this afternoon or hold up a cheque for £25m and say "this is from us to BFRC to cover this years losses".
Whilst I agree with you about MA being a good appointment - and I'm sure he'll get a good reception today - Venkys is a differnet matter.

They are only here IMO to market their name/brand, and do it as cheaply as possible - end of, they are business people not football fans.
This I, and many other could (a little reluctantly) accept if only they would be honest about it.
In doing so they should not have dismantled our management structure, but just let it continue its good work, sit back and benefit from the global 'exposure'.
But no, they meddle into something they know nothing of and bring it crashing down
I do not subscribe to barrages of abuse directed even towards them as it is wrong, unhealthy and totally counter productive. But I can certainly understand the anger.
Football is a nasty/greedy business these days and many are just pushing their snouts further and further into the trough and just maybe both sides deserve each other.

If they are at the game tomorrow I really hope that our supporters treat them with respect. They bought the club when the Walker Trust couldn't wait to offload it and have poured substantial sums into the club ever since.

USA has 300 million people but still has 50 million poor
UK has 60 million people but still has 10 million poor people
India is still considered to be 3rd world, due to it's standard of living etc. Having large economic growth due to the rich of India exploiting the less better off people doesn't mean you're not 3rd world. There's still a lot to be done, just go to India and you can see it.
USA and Russia have bigger space programmes than you. USA have a better military than you. The SAS is better than India's special forces. USA, China and Russia are the most technologically advanced countries in the world (mainly because Russia and China exploit there people to).
You also can't even compare the poor of the UK to India, because if you compare the two, the poor of the UK aren't poor at all.
India also hired British architects to design their multi-million pound projects for expanding their railways and for building these new cities.
You seem to have a very skewed perception of the world. You also seem to have a dislike for the west.

I am not a member of Brag or any other fan group, and I am still supporting my club and going to games (unlike many of the posters on this site) - however I will be making my feelings known to Venkys if they attend the match today.
Venkys have lied to Rovers fans since day 1, and they are responsible for my club becoming a lauging stock.
For that I will never forgive them.
As for investment, if Venkys were seroius about keeping us in the Premier League last year, can someone please explain why they only recruited Tim Payne & Bradley Orr (undisclosed fees), Markus Olsson (free transfer) and the useless Anthony Modeste (on loan) in the January 2012 transfer window.
The quality of those new recruits was appalling and the inablity to strenghthen the squad in January contibuted to our eventual relegation.

If he wants to win our hearts he will have get to know us better and to stop being a stranger.
What do we actually know about the Venky family other than some of their business dealings.? Not a lot I would say
They won't listen to abuse, I wouldn't and if most of the boo boys where honest they wouldn't either.
What damage do you want and expect them to see ?
I don't for one minute believe this was a deliberate action, as someone said earlier they were looking to promote themselves by buying a PL team, and what a mess they have made of that.
Anyone can get relegated, that's part of the game, but just read the posts on here to see what the real damage is.
Fan against fan when we should be united as one behind the team, Venky's have to take the bulk of responsibility for that as well, but not all of it, whether or not they accept it the bile and hatred the boo boys rained down from the stands last season potentially cost us 11 points.
So we the fans have a responsibility as well, and while I accept everyone is entitled to an opinion and a say, even me lol, the methods chosen by the boo boys are simply not acceptable to me.
Thats me, I'm off to get ready, looking forward to the game especially as I have a friend who is a Charlton fan, so 3 points are all the more important today.
Whatever happens today Rovers will have my total 100% support.
