Blackburn Rovers may bring Orr back

BLACKBURN Rovers are considering bringing defender Bradley Orr back to Ewood Park.

The right back, who started the season in the side under Steve Kean, is currently on loan at Championship rivals Ipswich Town, but new Rovers boss Michael Appleton may choose to keep Orr when his loan deal expires later this month.

Bradley Orr is an average Championship player, did a job for QPR and doing a job for Ipswich at this level, but is hardly going to match the ambition of the return to the premiership, there was a general agreement when Berg shipped him out to Ipswich that this was a good move, looks like were going backwards again

Agreed I'd sooner he stayed where he is, saying that though, as all rovers fans need someone to sl@g off it could be a good idea and take all the sh1t that would be directed at the next in line. Good idea.

There are some fans who dislike him purely because of what he said in the wake of the club getting relegated. Personally, I'd rather we had him back. Of the eleven league games in which he played for us this season we only lost two. Since Henning Berg dropped him and he was loaned to Ipswich we've lost six. I know there are other factors at play, such as tactics, quality of opposition, etc., but he was a lot more dependable at the back than any of the other defenders.

Also, since he joined Ipswich they've only lost three games, compared to the nine they lost before he arrived. I know he'll never be liked by some Rovers fans but why cut off your nose to spite your face? He's a good Championship player and that's just what we need.

The young lad (Kane) from Chelsea was excellent on his debut and gave us great attacking options down the RH side for the first time for ages....but we only have Kane on a months loan which may explain why they are considering bringing Orr back. I reckon if we can extend Kane's loan until the end of the season then Orr will be staying with tractor boys.

Is this desperation now ? Man, If we bring him into the 1st team again, than we really haven't any hope of top flight. This team is full of youth and extreme retirees. Where is the middle playing field?

spot on - decent defender, well established at this level and can do a job. Some seem to hate him by association with Kean - get over it.

i agree, given the real lack of depth we have in that position ( i think Kane's loan was only a month anyway) we can't really afford to hold grudges. in many ways, i don't have that many qualms with what he said anyway. i can at least see why he did.

Were you watching the same match French Rover. Yes he looked good going forward but simply couldn't defend. He was skinned nearly everytime down the flank, was found to far up field on numerous occasions and got caught by the ball played inside him so many times that I thought we were playing 3 at the back. Totally out of his depth on that appearance.

Why can't some people face facts? We have an awful defence - a defence that got us relegated. We need defenders who are prepared to give their all, put their head, legs, body in where they can. We need defenders that are disciplined, who can hold their position and the line. Defenders who don't get sucked in or ball-watch.

Ask yourself this question - do Bradley Orr and Scott Dann fit the bill?

Dann is a prima Donna (relegated 2 seasons running). Forget the twitter stuff with Orr - the bloke wasn't good enough for QPR. I know a couple of QPR fans who p@ssed their sides when we took him.

And no, I probably couldn't do better, but with the wages these guys are on I would expect commitment and a certain amount of skill and guile - again these are sadly lacking.

To be honest I think his first game at Ewood made him for me. His second or third touch of the ball was a cracking cross which was put into the goal. Granted that was a one time occasion, and Henley does as much, but we all complain there is no competition for places (coz we have no defenders) at the back. Orr can always play at CB when Henley returns. So for me his experience and ability shouldn't be scorned. If he's a Championship player, then lets play him in the Championship surely??? We can't run out with a team filled with under 25's and expect miracles

I'm with Oakdale - good going forward but was struggling undr pressure in 2nd half. He'll get better. In the meantme Orr is an experienced and decent full back - he was pretty useless when Black pushed him up but otherwise an exerienced and capable full back in the Championship.

Orr, Dann both garbage unfit to wear the blue&white.

We need to get some decent defence. Hopefully Appleton understands the key to winning games is not to concede goals. The bald liar thought that so long as you could score more than your opponent then you will win. Therefore he sold off one of the best defences in the league. And replaced the with cheap second rate.

Jones, Nelson, Salgardo, Samba sacrificed to buy so called goal scorers who fail to live up to the hype. Lets not buy any more up front until the back line can be sorted out.

And the delusion show's no sign of fading.. You are an average Championship club at best, and at the moment you are still on the slide. All this talk of returning to the Premier League with your current infrastructure is just fantasy. The fifth manager of the season will once again be given time to mould the team in his own way by which point the bottom 3 could be closer than you think. If you had stuck with Kean I doubt you'd have dropped out of the play-off's all season. Oh well.

Massive pressure on shaved monkey #3 to produce the goods this weekend, is he up to it? And with the Clarets in fine form it's squeaky bum time once again for the Rovers.

Always thought Dan was a poor buy at £6 million quid but he's doing a job in the Championship probably as good as anyone else in this League and can't fault his effort and he plays well if the team is defending as a unit otherwise they all get caught out at times. Don't know why he gets so much stick maybe it's because of the amount we paid for him. Bradley Orr may not be brilliant but again I don't think he has played that bad to deserve the stick he gets also.

Completely agree with this - paid too much for Dann. We can't change that or anything else that has happened in the past. New manager has to be given a chance and that includes these players and those who he might bring in.

The only garbage I can see is the stuff you've just written. He isn't a bad right back at all. I doubt very much that the Sky reporter would've said he was responsible for five of the six goals, because he wasn't. Our defence looked a lot more solid at the start of the season and Ipswich's defence has looked a lot more solid since he went there. I've got a sneaking suspicion you just don't like him because of what he said when we got relegated. It can't be because of anything you've just said because it's all b*llocks.

Fair point about the Midfield, however whilst Dann has had a few decent games, in my opinion he's still culpable for far too many errors.

Hanley would be good with someone decent like Nelsen alongside him as he's still learning.

For me Olsen should be setting this league alight, however it just doesn't seem to be happening and he too is getting caught out of position all too often.

As for Orr - the best he's been in this league is mediocre.

Eclipsed his performances instantly? I'll have some of what your having! Whilst Henley poses more of an attacking threat than Orr he's been found wanting in defence. He's another Martin Olsson in the respect that he'd be better utilised on the wing. With the likes of Kazim-Richards, King and Rochina creating the goals we don't need full-backs bombing forward, only to lose possession and be out of position. If we're going to get out of this league we need our defenders to defend.

Orr was one of our most consistent players before his loan move to Ipswich and seems to have been a good addition to their team. If you honestly believe he's been mediocre at best then I suspect you're setting the bar far too high for this division.

Hanley has been at fault for more goals than Dann this season, although no defender is going to go a few games without making a mistake.

I also expected Martin Olsson to play better than he has but at the same time I don't think he's a defender anyway. Without support from the midfield he's been shackled at the back. We need to get in another left-back and play Olsson in a more advanced role, provided he stays of course.

Hanley - injured.
Kane - on loan for one month.
Staff Resource - low.

If you were in business and you had your preferred employee (Hanley) off on the long term sick whisly another employee was recovering and due back in a few weeks you would need to turn to a temp (Kane). You could even recruit them on a temp-to-perm basis, but it doesn't always work out.

You have another team member who could also do the job (Orr) satisfactorily - i.e. enough to keep things going until the rising star (Hanley) is back - who has been seconded to another department (Ipswich).

Would it seem SENSIBLE to get him back as cover just in case the temp (Kane) goes?

Orr's comments after the Wigan game at the end of last season were unfortunate to say the least. But just because they didn't mirror the general consensus of the fans doesn't mean he should always be berated. He is entitled to an opinion and was probably doing as he was told. Kean is gone. Let Orr get on with his life.

We can do nothing with the past. It is gone. All we can do is learn from it. Harvest the good, and let bye gones be bye gones.

You could never doubt his commitment on the field and if he has got match fit at Ipswich so much the better although like the back four he sometimes looses concentration which cause mistakes
