Venky’s set to attend Charlton fixture
7:44am Tuesday 15th January 2013 in Sport
Anuradha Desai
BLACKBURN Rovers’ under fire owners Venky’s are set to be at Ewood Park this weekend – with club matriarch Anuradha Desai preparing for just her second visit since The Walker Trust sold up in November 2010.
Co owners Desai, Balaji and Venkatesh Rao are all understood to be making the journey from India later this week to welcome in new manager Michael Appleton’s regime.
Appleton and his assistant Ashley Westwood will take charge for the first time on Saturday, for the Championship visit of Charlton Athletic, and are set to meet their bosses.
It is believed Venky’s will also attempt to sort out the divide in the hierarchy behind the scenes, with global advisor Shebby Singh’s Rovers future uncertain.
Desai’s only other Rovers visit was for a defeat to Tottenham back in February 2011 – a trip that coincided with the departure of former chairman John Williams.
The Rao brothers have watched Rovers numerous times earlier this campaign but the weekend’s visit will be their first for a couple of months.

As we are stuck with them and there is zero chance of any other potential buyers coming along fans' passions should be aimed at getting the new regime off to a great start.
Those clowns on here who talk about grovelling apologies from our Indian owners need to get in touch with the real world.
It would be an immense shame in all senses of the word if Michael Appleton's first game in charge was overshadowed by futile insults aimed at the owners.

We must vent our displeasure at how they have mismanaged the club, ignored the customers of their business (the fans) and sold our best players for financial gain.
Vocal protests must be made BEFORE the game, and I suggest that this is done at the main entrance on Nuttall Street.
I do not believe we should protest duing the game and if we leave it until after the match we will probably discover that the Venkys will have left the ground on police advice.
So get down to Ewood early and protest.

No excuse for staying away this Saturday - get your tickets, get down Ewood and lets all give these Venkys scum a verbal earbashing - just so Mrs D (the invisible woman) is in no doubt what we think of them.
And please don't say "It shows they'll learning" - only the most gulible of Rovers fan can now ever believe such guff.

Unfortunately there are no buyers so whats the answer? I don't know but
you seem to be of the philosophy you train a dog by kicking it, come here boy, KICK, come here boy KICK, they may not know anything about football, whereas in your case you just know nothing about anything.
So they haven't attended for nigh on 12 months and the first time an opportunity to open dialogue with them is lost because you kicked them when they came, doesn't make sense to me.

Mrs D should go on the big screen, get down on her knees and prostrate herself in front of the fans. Then issue the biggest apology she possibly can. Saying sorry to all the fans for Venky's actions over the last two years and promising to LISTEN to the fans in future.
I think you have watched too many big screen movies and are suffering from Claude Van Damme o vision, maybe she could do it on a burning building in slow motion for you or even on the deck of the titanic just as its going down.

This is the first chance and perhaps only chance we will have to make some impression on Mrs Desai - the woman who calls all the shots.
We have got to show her what we fee about her mis-management of our football club.
As I have said earlier, any protests must be made BEFORE and not during the game but we can't just sit there and pretend eveything is rosy.

Put this one down as an away banker then & shove a few quid on it. "Open dialogue with Venkys" - hahahaha - now who's in cloud cuckoo land - these people have NEVER conversed with ANYONE - even Paul Hunt complained they wouldnt speak with him and they had appointed him acting CEO of the club.
I do think some people made a fair point to vent our anger at Venkys BEFORE the game then get behind MA and the players, during the game.
But then again, I know nothing about anything so I've probably got that wrong as well.
Still, I'm sure you'll be their on Saturday and you'll do 100% the right thing and every other Rovers fan there (acording to you) will do everything 100% wrong because you're perfect and everyone else never knows anything nor are they allowed an opinion - what an insecure person you are.

We have to make it clear, outside the ground, that we do not like what Venkys have done to our club.
We have to make it clear, inside the ground, that we are the passionate fans we say we are and that we support our team.
The media will go crazy if they have the opportunity to say Blackburn fans don't support their club.

Nothing would be more effective than a boycott in driving into their thick skulls the contempt in which they are held, and nothing would be better at speeding the demise of The Global Adviser.
Since Kean went things have gone from bad to worse. Until these owners start doing the right thing we will have to accept row after row of empty seats.
I just think the time has come to start afresh and build instead of continually singing the song about the light bulb that went two years ago.
The only problem for me at the minute is the doomongers want to create more misery by continuing to make the fans look bad with a poisonous atmosphere on appletons first game in charge. How many managers do they need before they get behind the team?

Personally, I think anybody chanting against Venky's are, effectively, p*ssing in the wind. Mrs Desai is far too stubborn to listen to the fans. However, I know this is a very rare opportunity for some people to vent their frustrations so, should they feel the necessity to do so, take Riverside 7's advice and do it outside the ground when they arrive.

A statement and acknowledgment that they have gone about it the wrong way but intend to try to do better in future would go a long way with the supporters and perhaps bring about that fresh start.
How difficult can that be for them if they want to improve relations?

If the Venkys get a hostile reception it will be a long, long time before we see them again.
As we are stuck with them and there is zero chance of any other potential buyers coming along fans' passions should be aimed at getting the new regime off to a great start.
Those clowns on here who talk about grovelling apologies from our Indian owners need to get in touch with the real world.

Yes, If Venkys walked out today then we would be in administration but if they continue to run the club as they have been doing then we will be in administration within the next 18 months anyway as the club cannot keep losing revenue whilst failing to cut its costs or increase its revenues - you don't need to be an accountant to work that out - £25m loss for the 2012-2013 trading year is simply unsustainable yet so far they have done almost NOTHING to stem those lossess nor have they put a penny into the club to nulify those lossess (despite what some people continually post on here - Givet82 !!!) - infact the amount of money they charge the club in expenses for them "gracing us with their presence" will take us approx 2 home league games revenue to pay for- UTTER MADNESS !

If they go, we're screwed, if they stay and we constantly "Someone Out" we drop down the league again, if we stay and voice our support for the team inside the ground and protest outside before or after the game we show the owners and footballing community that we ARE there for the team and we ARE there against the owners. Boycotting has so far served no purpose but to alienate fans from each other and make the stadium a ghost town with virtually zero impact on the owners.

I think the rows of empty seats should get the message across. But just to emphasise it, how about giving Venky’s both barrels for ONE minute when they take their seats at the start of the game and again at the start of the second half?
Then switch attention to the match and for the rest of the game support the team as never before and show these fools that we are 100% behind the players. That will clearly show them we support the team but not the regime.
That way we will gain far more credibility as fans and get a clear message across, but keep the two distinct elements separate.
Also, those who say "Venkys are the only thing standing between us and administration" are only partly correct.

It would be an immense shame in all senses of the word if Michael Appleton's first game in charge was overshadowed by futile insults aimed at the owners.

Our rock bottom will be administration.
Only then will the long, hard journey to recovery begin.
The only variable before rock bottom will be the slow car crash that is venky's
ownership of Rovers. .
Maybe, just maybe, a miracle will happen and venky's will learn from their record of chronic ineptitude and employ those that can run the club in a professional way and leave them free from interference by the loons from Pune but I am certainly not holding my breath.

Well this is our big chance to show how we feel about the Venky's ownership of Blackburn Rovers.
We must vent our displeasure at how they have mismanaged the club, ignored the customers of their business (the fans) and sold our best players for financial gain.
Vocal protests must be made BEFORE the game, and I suggest that this is done at the main entrance on Nuttall Street.

Get your head out of the sand - do you think our financial situation is good ????
Since those accounts were published our revenue has massively decreased whilst our outgoings have only reduced marginally.
Why do you find the truth so offensive - arnt you MAN ENOUGH to accept that the clubs accounts are a massive mess ??
Grow some BALLS and face reality !!!
And if you or anyone else wants to sue me for any of those statements then go ahead.

Whatever one thinks of Venkys and not very much would be my opinion based on what they have achieved - the question is what or who is the alternative - I do not see a knight in shining army riding into Ewood to buy the club do you
What is important on Saturday is the team is supported and we get the first win of 4 home games to start the climb up the table.
I couldnt care less who owns the club as long as it is run properly and the 11 on the pitch are successful

Can't believe that people think that Venkys still need to be told that they are unpopular and need to make better decisions. Some people are unbelievably stupid, they must realise that without Venkys there is no BRFC.
All the demonstrations, all the insults have done nothing to help Rovers situation. Somehow bridges have to be built between the Venkys and the fans or there will be no BRFC.
Some of the imbeciles who post on this site are determined to destroy their own club.

For each to protest in his/her own way.
I presume Venkys are travelling first class curtesy of Rovers' rapidly dimishing petty cash account.
Last time Ms Desai turned up it was to give Williams his P45 - hopefully she's bringing Shabby's.
Of course, the only viable solution is for Venkys to sell out, bankruptcy would be a disaster. Frankly, it doens't matter whether the fans boo or clap her, the decision will be made the accountant in Pune. Whatever happens will get a PR gloss - the fans were so awful, she's pulling out, the fans were lovely, she's staying. The only decent thing is for Venkys to sell up in a way that includes the fans - Swansea are a good example of a club 20% owned by the fans.

To be honest I think they would go for A and waste another 2 million which would be better spent on the squad. if going for option B then maybe this is what the missing 10000 have been waiting for, maybe its time for them all to come back when Venkys have gone.
Yesterday they employed a PR firm - WHY ??? - they don't need to hire such a firm - a PR firms job is, basically, to "polish the turd" - if Venkys want to look better in the eyes of Rovers fans, sponsers and the football world in general then its quite simple -
Don't employ a turd polisher ! - just start doing things in a CORRECT fashion - show some humility - appologise for the shambles you've caused - put some CASH into the club and sack those morons Agnew, Shaw and Singh and emply a proper football CEO who has the power to put in his own staff and make proper footballing decisions without having to refer back to some woman sat in an ivory tower in the @rse end of India and who knows NOTHING about fooball !!!

These numbers are approximate, but they bought a business worth, say, 25 million, and in two years under their management it is now worth 10 million at best, and has become almost impossible to sell. So in reality, if you cannot sell a business it becomes worthless unless it is making a profit, and we are far from that.
Billionaires interested in football can afford to subsidise their interest. Jack Walker was wealthy enough to fund his team but the Venkys have demonstrated little interest in the sport in England. They are wealthy but not Billionaires. Abramovitch seems to be at every Chelsea match. This will be Mrs Desai's second appearance in two years.
Venkys have a tiger by the tail. They may not know how to correct the situation or to extricate themselves from it. It seems that there are only three possibilities. One - pump in millions and reorganise to get back in the Premiership where all the big money is, or Two - Let the club descend to a level where it will be financially self supporting.with gates of around 12'000, or Three - let the club just slide into administration and claim the loss as a tax writeoff.
Make your own mind up as to which course they will choose. It would certainly help us supporters if Venkys would speak to us and give us their real plans for the future rather than hiring a PR firm. PR has a bad connotation to most people. They are noted more for spin rather than truth.

What a fantastic excuse for the boo boys to return to Ewood and create their own inimitable and special atmosphere during the game.
Don't get me wrong it's about time Venky's turned up and were finally made to understand the disaster they have created.
But we have a new manager on show on Saturday, a nervous team and a generally apathetic fan base , and we need to follow up on recent successes and win this game.
We need to be getting behind Appleton and the team full stop, by all means demonstrate after the game if that rocks your boat, especially if we win, but not during the game please.
Because if the boo boys kick off, just like Chelsea, Bolton, West Brom last season, the only winners will be Charlton.

Most people agree on here that they don't like what the owners have done to the club. The owners are not for changing.
In two years they have held onto a drowning manager for ages inevitably taking the club down.
Brought in a global advisor to just say anything, who bought some cheap non descript portugeesers.
Were told by everybody that the club needs experience, and went and got inexperience, sacked, lesson learnt? no, more inexperience.
The more people smile and endure the Venks, the longer they will torture the club and fans. What ever will be will be, but they are not going to learn to run this club properly, and they certainly don't loose sleep over it.

Welcome Bollywood Billionaires from Pune India to one of the most deprived town in UK .Blackburn is 17th most deprived town in UK with delapidated old terrace house unfit for human habitation and benefit scroungers and low paid workers ad single parent mums.
It's just a shame Britain doesn't have India's levels of poverty, malnutrition, and sex-specific infanticide to make them feel really at home.
Those Bollywood Billionaires have certainly done a good job of dragging one of the countries finest footballing establishments into the gutter with the dilapidated old terrace house unfit for human habitation, benefit scroungers, low paid workers and single parent mums.
You should be proud of them modan.... oh hang on, you are.

Oh deep joy.
I think you need to read what I said again.
And I quote "by all means demonstrate after the game if that rocks your boat, especially if we win,."
I want 3 points on Saturday, nothing more, nothing less and demonstrations during the games last season cost us at least 11 points.
I want Venky's to either sort things out or go, just like everyone else does, but you have been hurling abuse at them for two years, where the feck has that got us?
Absolutely bloody nowhere.
Why is it that when another opinion is brought forward you have to insult?
You want Venks to sort things, like they have been sorting things already?
Now look who's the clown.
If the outcome is Venks can't handle the club which means they have to let go, better they let go whilst there is still something to build on than for them to keep making massive mistakes, then selling some asset to make up for it.whilst everybody sits on their hands and watches.

There is always the danger that a PR company could isolate the fans even further, YET on the positive side (they are have any bottle at all...) they could open up the club to the fans opinions and common-sense, which has been lacking since day one...... PLUS the fact there were too many "bleeders" onboard with self interest over the two years.
True fans need to focus though on the TEAM SUPPORT and give this new Manager/Coach a reasonable period to show their true colours and whether they can turn it around in the 2nd half of the season.
GET BEHIND YOUR TEAM AND BE HEARD ENCOURAGING THE TEAM.....IT COULD BE THE TURNING POINT AND LAST CHANCE OF SUCCESS THIS SEASON.

To be honest I think they would go for A and waste another 2 million which would be better spent on the squad. if going for option B then maybe this is what the missing 10000 have been waiting for, maybe its time for them all to come back when Venkys have gone.
I want no part of your moronic bootboy tactics, you lunatic.
Ha Ha…What a self-righteous, pusillanimous, sap you are
Blaming Rovers fans for the non-attendance of families !
Are you straight from the set of ‘the Waltons’?
And do you really watch football or attend matches ?
Because for as long as I can remember football at Ewood has never been a pretty little rose garden were children play full of wonderful language and politeness!
What world are you from?
Cursing and’ letting off steam’, voicing your opinion, are all aspects the football world I know
You really should tuck yourself up at home and not worry yourself with the nasty opinions of people who care about the systematic ruin of an established E PL side, reduced to a shell of its former self, scattered with delusional stiffs like yourself, running scared of reality

I am sure they do not expect anything else but barracking - so I think there must be another reason they are coming. Perhaps the public humiliation of Singh, Agnew and Shaw on the pitch before the game starts.

This is about Venkys being rubbish at running a football club. Not just rubbish, absolutely appalling, horrifying, shocking, disgusting, upsetting, sickening, outrageous, scandalous, distressing

Your getting all confused again with facts and figures aswell. Let me be a bit more realistc for you Mr India. You won't see 10,000 chanting Venkys out either or 15,000 greeting Venkys because there will be no where near 25,000. There only be about 14,000 in the ground of which 13,500 will be Rovers fans and 500 Charlton (if that). Of the 13,500 Rovers fans, 13,499 want Venkys out. 1 (that's you) will greet them like some heros. So who cares what your warped head believes? Understand this - Venkys are hated. Fact.

Show your feelings for the owners outside the ground before the game.
Then show your feelings for the club and the team, by supporting BRFC inside the ground for 90 minutes.
Gives everybody the ability to behave in the manner they feel most appropriate, (I suspect many want to do both) without creating more divisions within the crowd or giving the media excuses to call us disloyal to our club.

Most internationals in a squad - does that mean we deserve to be above Cardiff ? Does that mean we should have an extra 30 points ?
Also facts -
1 - we now have a wage to turnover of over 100% - highest in the division - arent you proud of being top of that league ??
2 - Losing most money in the Championshiop - arnt you proud of that one ?
I prefer the one you usually quote -
Highest wage bill in the division - LIKE THATS SOMETHING TO BE PROUD OF !!
If you don't understand that the club is in one God of a holy mess then there is something seriously wrong with you.
1 - Our upper management HATE each other and never stop infighting.
2 - We don't have a proper off field structure.
3 - we are losing £25m this year.
4 - Our fans are deserting the club in droves.
5 - As our the sponsers.
6 - On Saturday we will have our 5th manager of the season.
Apart from that - you are right - Venkys are bloody brilliant !!! (25,000 other Rovers fans just don't appreciate it !!).

I was going down saturday to watch a game of football, not sure I'll be able to see through the mist of hatred that seems sure to descend on Ewood.
But FFS give the new manager a chance.
I hate the venkys too, but so many on here just can't see beyond the end of their c o c k s!
Personally I'm not going and that is my protest

Whatever you are, you are not supporters. Venkys wont sell, get over it. Support the players and management. But what would i know, I'm not a real fan like you protestors...
Yes we've protested and lost games but recently at the Barnsley away game the 1250 away fans sang virtually solid anti Shebby Singh and anti Venky songs for the full 90 mins - and that produced some of the best Rovers football for quite awhile.
Not only that but EVERY Rovers player came over to the away end after the game and seemed to agree/revel in the anti Singh chanting
The players clearly understood that we were 100% with them and 100% against Venkys and Singh - and they seemed happy enough with that.
So, its too simplistic to say when you protest we lose and when we don't sing anti-Venky songs we win.

I think its worth repeating the strategy many have said could unite Rovers fans for this match.
That said, if we show positive early signs, create some good early chances and maybe score an early goal, the focus will be taken away from those w4nkers and the atmosphere might just be a positive one. It's a bit of a catch 22 really. Of course we want the lads to play well, create a positive healthy feeling in the ground and take 3 points but we don't want madame b0llocks and her cronies to think all is well or be manipulated by Shebby Shertting and his lip service trash talk. We want them to know they are responsible for ripping the heart and soul out of our football club.

Outside the ground protests, inside the ground anti-Venky's chanting. Guaranteed loss, Point proven about Appleton's inexperienced appointment being a mistake.
Job done. Back home to gloat on your "I told you so" foresight on every available Rovers forum and drum up more disenchantment and division with any fans who don't agree, whilst continuously blaming Venky's and looking for more inventive ways of pronouncing their names and hurling more "indian" riddled insults (because 1bn people are obviously to blame for Venky's).
More failed results.. More disenchantment and frustration of players.. Looking desperate now.. Only a few more shoves needed to send the whole melting pot over the edge.. Throw a few more Shaw/Agnew/SEM conspiracies online to create more doubt..
Finally Put a few bob on the bookies as you smugly watch the club sink into administration, patting yourself on the back that the club will come out stronger for it and we will restore Jack's legacy under the newly formed fan owned club.

Oh deep joy.
If you and the rest of the boo boys actually bother to turn up it won't be to support Rovers it will be to vent your spleen at Venky's.
I seem to remember the last time that happened they disappeared for several months and left Kean running everything.
The £850 million or so that someone else quoted earlier is chicken feed to Venky's, the main part of their portfolio covering pharmaceutics world wide is actually closer to £9 billion when you take into account the assets.
£25 million or £10 million for Rovers in that context? not even pocket money.
These are not stupid people, it is quite possible they have realised their mistakes and are trying to put things right.
But putting myself in their position on Saturday, remembering what happened last time they were here, I would seriously consider pulling the plug if there was a repeat.
Simple question, if someone was continually screaming abuse at you would you;
a - do what they want
b - scream abuse back
c - tell them to get stuffed and walk away.
They won't do a-, they can't do b-, that only leaves c-.
And you really, really think BRAG and BRSIT are in any position or even remotely capable of picking up the pieces?

The problem is I actually still give a 5hit about Blackburn Rovers. I relate to those who say stay away, as I relate to those who say back the team. We all stood under the concrete together on the old Blckburn End and i can't believe these ignorant, arrogant gits have divided us like this.
We will all do our own thing on Saturday, but Ewood Park has 40 years of memories for me, I would like to think this isn't going to be one of the worst.

The more people smile and endure the Venks, the longer they will torture the club and fans. What ever will be will be, but they are not going to learn to run this club properly, and they certainly don't loose sleep over it.
Simple question, if someone was continually screaming abuse at you would you;
a - do what they want
b - scream abuse back
c - tell them to get stuffed and walk away.
They won't do a-, they can't do b-, that only leaves c-.
And you really, really think BRAG and BRSIT are in any position or even remotely capable of picking up the pieces?

Most of it has been said many times over the last year (or two...) and it is clouding the real issues.
THE TEAM NEEDS THE SUPPORT...
THE NEW MANAGER/COACH NEED TO BE GIVEN A FAIR GO....
THE VENKY,S ARE HERE FOR THE FORSEEABLE FUTURE...(we all know of the "****" that has happened over the last two years AND WE CANNOT CHANGE HISTORY...WE CAN ONLY HOPE THE VENKY,S HAVE LEARNT FROM IT !!!)
GET BEHIND THE MANAGER....
PRIORTY MUST BE THE TEAM....THAT,S WHAT "REAL" SUPPORTERS ARE ALL ABOUT !!!

That is exactly what will happen, OK BRAG and BRSIT might attempt to reform Rovers under another name (they can't use Blackburn Rovers again), but they won't have a ground or any facilities.
And whatever they come up with it won't be Rovers in my eyes, that is why I have withdrawn my support and potential investment from BRSIT.
But I will be down there on Saturday, weather permitting, supporting my team, hopefully not for the last time.

I think its worth repeating the strategy many have said could unite Rovers fans for this match.
I suppose the best result would be to destroy Charlton 5-0 with 20 mins to go and then chant Venkys out for the rest of the game! That'd confuse the f*ck out of em!
Actually, if we 5-0 up that'd confuse the f*ck out of me aswell!

I think its worth repeating the strategy many have said could unite Rovers fans for this match.
I suppose the best result would be to destroy Charlton 5-0 with 20 mins to go and then chant Venkys out for the rest of the game! That'd confuse the f*ck out of em!
Actually, if we 5-0 up that'd confuse the f*ck out of me aswell!

It would be an immense shame in all senses of the word if Michael Appleton's first game in charge was overshadowed by futile insults aimed at the owners.

Legs o' Man - now there was a rough pub ! What I would give to watch the Venkys walk in there on a Friday night with their London PR men and Modan in tow.
My only memory of the old Darwen End roof was some dingle retard going up it, on it and then crashing through it into the snack bar. Must have been late 70's.
Not so innocent those days really, just a different attitude, and there wasn't cameras everywhere gathering evidence. If you stepped out of line, and we all did, you knew you could get 'slapped' And if you did, you took it, you didn't go whining about 'my rights' and compensation.

I suppose that would be out of the question.
Put this one down as an away banker then & shove a few quid on it. I imagine the atmosphere will be toxic with the fans who care about the club venting their anger towards clueless owners, the moaners critising these fans for having an opinion that reflects their concerns. Going to be some atmosphere, but not one conducive to play football in. Oh deep joy.
Simple question, if someone was continually screaming abuse at you would you;
a - do what they want
b - scream abuse back
c - tell them to get stuffed and walk away.
They won't do a-, they can't do b-, that only leaves c-.

I wish I had 2 billion, or 5 billion, or even 9 billion.
I would probably buy an Indian Cricket franchise to expand my interests in the sub continent.
Now I don't have a clue how Cricket works in India, apart from Test Match Special and Sky's coverage on TV, but I am pretty sure I could find someone over there who could advise me?
After all Cricket is pretty big over there....isn't it?
Buy in some really famous players when the bidding starts, after all I have plenty of money and that's all they are after...isn't it?
This Tendulkar guy, a bit past it, but won't the locals flock to see him, and the TV rights, with my company's name right up there, heaven.
OK the managers a fat boring old **** but we can pay him off with a nice big cheque, we know he doesn't want to be with us anyway so all I have to do is wind him up and Bobs your uncle, so to speak.
And there's no relegation even if you loose, franchises don't work that way.......do they?
Oh ****, what have I got myself into?

There's many on this site who don't know what they have missed. Mind you, who knows, if the Venkys continue on their downwards slide, those threadbare days (but weren't we happy?) may return. I wish.. In fact, I might even pay the milk bill!.

Ewoods been such an edgy place these last couple of years, add to that the cause of all the carnage are going to be sat in the ground and it makes for a potential poison atmosphere.
I think its worth repeating the strategy many have said could unite Rovers fans for this match.
I suppose the best result would be to destroy Charlton 5-0 with 20 mins to go and then chant Venkys out for the rest of the game! That'd confuse the f*ck out of em!
Actually, if we 5-0 up that'd confuse the f*ck out of me aswell!
On a lighter note did you enjoy Modans latest classic raving, a few rovers references, a full on broadcast on behalf of the Indian Supremacist Party, and finish with a token rovers comment.
odan and Roverspal1, they must be related.
I remember that back in the early seventies Leicester City were the first club to come to Ewood who had fans that wore Harringtons and Crombies and DM's and braces and had Skinhead haircuts....really strange looking (to us) but quite 'hard' fans who gave the Rovers a bit of a chasing on the Darwen End that day.
During the sixties and very early seventies most Rovers fans behind the goals were 'Greasers/Rockers' still with studded Leather Jackets (as were most Lancashire Club teams like Blackpool, PNE, Burnley and Bolton) and greased back hair. It was Ewood on a Saturday afternoon and then round the Barbary Coast on a Saturday night. Great pubs and great music on the jukeboxes...bit rough later in the night though!
Innocent days before Murdoch created SKY which begat greedy Agents and greedy footballers who corrupted our national sport....

VENKYS SCUM OUTI for one am grateful that we have Venky's.....yes you read that right. They certainly have their failings but have you ever stopped and thought where we would have been under the Walker Trust....I think administration would have already happened, the money for transfers had dried up some time previous. At least we have a BRFC to support
Where did you get the idea the club was going into administration under the Walker Trust? It seemed to be bobbing along quite nicely thanks very much. You may have forgotten we were in the PL for over ten years supposedly teetering on the edge of administration, much longer than we were when all the money was sloshing about. You have to cut your cloth accordingly and the administration was doing just that.
We would have been relegated eventually; that was inevitable at some stage in the future. Of course if there were still people running the club with half an idea, it may not have seemed too bad.
Trouble is there aren't and it does.
