Personally , I think what Gary and Tery have shown us all over the last few weeks is the difference positivity can make. The same squad has been available o these guys as all the other managers, Gary has done what most great managers do he has motivated the players to show the fans what they are capable of , and he is the first manager to really big up his captain, over the last two years I have struggled to pick out our captain at games, in the last three games murphy has started to act like a captain but has also been backed by the manager, this has given a sense of unity and common cause absolutley essential for any succesful team. Its basic psychology.

The problem with the appointment of appleton is it forces the players to take sides in the battle of the boardroom, back him and your with Shaw , dont and your with Shebby. Appletons biggest challenge is going to be galvanising the players to a common cause, i hope he can do it but its a tough ask.

I believe we should now concentrate on getting a new board in and getting rid of the current warring factions. We can appoint Bowyer as manager why change a winning format? Looks like Appleton wont be able to return to Blackpool now but why spend monies paying off contracts when we need better players? This board are useless we need Venkeys to take immediate action and dispense with their services as soon as possible.

I can only say after Gary's efforts Appleton better do the business right from the start or I can see fireworks erupting. GARY SHOULD BE GIVEN THE CHANCE in veiw of the other people we keep looking at..

Appleton will be bringing his own assistant, Ashley Westwood, with him. Not sure what's happening about a goalkeeping coach though, I thought Rhodes' father was being lined up for that? Personally, I think Bowyer and McPhillips will, and should, return to their normal duties. They've both played a huge part in the development of players like Phil Jones, Junior Hoilett, Martin Ollson, Jason Lowe, Grant Hanley and Adam Henley.

Also, and this is purely from a selfish point of view, if things don't go well with Appleton and he's sacked like Berg was, Bowyer won't be in the firing line too. He could turn out to be our new Tony Parkes.

With regards to tonight's game, I'm hoping the players win it for Gary and Terry but I can't see us hammering Wolves. Their players have got a fresh start too and they'll be hoping to cement their own places in Saunders' starting XI. It should be a good game but I'm going for a draw.

i see your point about players needing to take sides, and i think it's an interesting one.
practically, i don't really see it playing out like that, but with the personalities involved, it's hard to be so sure. what we have seen over the management issues in the last couple of days has been hugely disappointing.
if/when appleton is announced, i would really like to see a strong and heartfelt thankyou from the directors to bowyer and mcphillips. track record suggest not, but i look forward to being pleasantly surprised.

MAYBE GB and McPhillips are quite happy to go back to running the reserves a job less volatile but a lot more secure for both of them as reserve team and youth team manager ,regular wages.
LET US give full support to Appleton /Westwood COACHING team , at least APPLETON has shown he will make decisions something lacking in recent times.

Kean was gushing when he signed Murphy, made him captain and praised him from day one. I'm sure Murphy's upturn in form is more to do with playing for a more competent tactician. I'll agree that Appleton needs to keep the same positive attitude that Bowyer and McPhillips have instilled in the team but I strongly disagree that players concern themselves with Boardroom infighting.

Personally I find Makaveli's posts to be a welcome lighthearted relief from the doom and gloom that has surrounded Rovers, since the Venky's et al, took over.
It's typically British and v Lanc's to try to find humor in the darkest of situations... And yes, it surprises me that ppl still "bite"..... Carry on Makaveli, (did I just come up with the film title for the farce that is Rovers?) It's a grim time and we need all the humour we can get..

under normal circumstances i would agree but the last twelve months have not been normal and it has to concern a player what goes on at board level , because as see n this year there are always casualties in the playing staff when change occurs, Reberio got a run out under Kean, Black dropped him, Kean would not play Rochina , Black did and Berg dropped him , Nuno gomes played under Kean dropped under Black and Berg, Murphy played under Kean , dropped by Berg, Robinson plays under Kean and Black dropped by Berg.

The decision on the type of manager is made by the board, so depending on who wins that battle depends on what type of manager comes in and ultimatley the direction of the club, so i would suggest they do think about it , and my guess is the odd agent is on stand by based on this decision.

gary bowyer has done a great job taking over a pressure situation and getting the team to at least try and play,,appleton shouldnt even be in the frame for the rovers hot seat,,why change a winning formula? the clowns running this once proud club need to find a proper job,,like running an asylam for the criminally insane,,they certainly cant run a football club,

Bowyer and Mcphilips have done an excellent job, I'm sure it will have been noted by a few lower league chairman.

I wouldn't be surprised if they leave the club in the coming months.

I think you're reading far too much into it. That's as good as saying that regardless of who the manager is, the team will be picked by whichever board member appointed them in the first place.
