Bowyer happy to keep momentum going
7:07pm Saturday 5th January 2013 in Sport
By Andy Cryer, Blackburn Rovers reporter
BLACKBURN Rovers caretaker boss Gary Bowyer believes it was important to keep the momentum going after watching his side cruise into the FA Cup fourth round.
Goals from Danny Murphy and Grant Hanley were enough to see off a poor Bristol City side and give Bowyer and Terry McPhillips their third successive win in temporary charge.
"At the start of the game we wanted to get through to the next round and that is what we have done," Bowyer said.
"We had the added bonus of an early goal and that settled us down quickly.
"We needed the second goal, Bristol City kept going, they've got a threat up front so we needed Grant's goal.
"To be fair to Grant at youth level he always contributed with goals and this time last year he scored at Old Trafford so he must like this time of year.
"It was an important result because it just keeps that momentum, we spoke with the players yesterday and we were honest with them and said we didn't want an 'after the Lord Mayor's show' performance, but I felt they were magnificent once more, the energy and the character showed was truly tremendous. It was a great way to finish the week.
"I'm sounding a bit repetitive but I can't praise the players enough, it has been an emotional week, they'll deserve their days off this week and we'll go again against Wolves next Friday."

The gloom has certainly lifted, but the big picture remains. We're going nowhere till Venkys leave. We will never have a happy successful club till then.

Before anyone starts to tell me that I'm in cloud cookoo land because of the teams being low in the league.. Just remember, this league has already seen bottom 3 beating top 6 a few times.. So a good performance on the day will see any team off in the league, which brings me to my point of 3 convincing wins under Gary being extremely significant... Think what you want though!

Since his appointment at West Ham in June 2011 Allardyce has guided the club out of the Championship at the first attempt and they are currently 11th in the Premier League. Kean, meanwhile, is out of work. He will appear on Sky Sports’ Goals on Sunday programme this weekend.

Venkys knew nothing about English football, they had Anderson running the club and now they have Shebby, enough said, Venkys biggest problem is finding the right advice, There is no doubt that they want success for brfc, if they had the magic wand I am sure they would wave it.
Without Venkys there will be no brfc. Knobheads who post on this site like Dangerous Dave and the Eckersley have no idea and should stop posting, they are probably members of the brag society.
GB is doing an excellent job, hope he can continue to be successful. In the long term, none of the names being mentioned are inspiring, of the ones I've heard I would probably go for Billy Davies. at least you can't fault his enthusiasm.

Whatever happens they are true Rovers fans and will not allow the chaos created by the current owners to have them resort to hurling insults at each other.
One view that I found interesting was the speculation that if Rovers were to get a club with rich owners, like Chelsea or City, down to Ewood the Venkys and all their hangers on would be swarming around the directors box like flies around 5hit looking for a photo opportunity. Great interview yesterday by CKR on Rovervision where he praised Gary Bowyer and said the players are all enjoying training and football again as GB lets them express themselves and knows his football (clearly a dig at some at the club past and present) CKR has thrown his shirt to the crowd the last two games and is obviously up for it ( park the cynical comments please)
Team GB (aka Rovers) do look far better and with 3 wins confidence is growing visibly. Diogo Rosado started and looked promising , inch or two away from a debut goal so maybe the Portuguese connection might still pay off
Not all rosy in the garden still a lot to do especially re final ball decisions from some (inc CKR) but we are playing with fresh energy and ideas. Not the greatest game. Is it my fault you are seedless like a jaffa and can spend all your money on yourself?
Do you find that statemet offensive, I hope so as do I yours.
I notice you even say you had a season ticket from the 94/95 season, as thats when on wikpedia it says it went all seater.
So you have openly admitted you are a premier league glory hunter and yet you have the front to come on here lecturing all about our finances.

Always said that their is an hardcore of 6000 down at Ewood who will under any circumstances attend the beloved, and should never be criticized for doing just that.
We have young folk who go on who have nothing to do with the debacle that besieges our club and just wish to witness their club playing and at this time winning.
Good fortune as descended on Rovers at present with the teams we have had the pleasure to play. That said, you have to beat what is in front of you and under the odious one and Berg I can, and will say possibly have not won these games with the goals for and against ? These wins are building confidence to go into the more challenging of games, and under Bowyer and Co I have the confidence that we can compete as we would expect ?
Wolves next week and looking forward to witnessing that. I don't give a good fig that they are in turmoil we can take full advantage of that helping to rebuild the disaster that as befallen our club. Most clubs in the Championship are having a hard time on some level ours must bulldoze through that taking no facking prisoners along the way.
Confidence is everything, ours are regaining that slowly but, surely.

You would thinh the Blackburn Rovers Hierarchy would realise that they are making a mess of their jobs. The televised FA cup matches had a three minute session were Andy Townsend and co all stated their opinions on the Rovers fiasco even the Sky panel all state openly that we are a joke so why in god's name do they not take that critcism on board a select a proper manager and promote Bowyer to assistant manager?
I think the business world now relises what a couple of incompetent brothers are now the face of BRFC...and the incompetent managers/directors/g
lobal advisors/agents they've listened to and employed.
So, I have no faith in any future decision they will make involving BRFC....as luck would have it a couple of football people still worked behind the scenes at Brockhall and for no other reason than the club being badly run they where thrown into the deep end to buy time for the regime.
Can anyone guarantee that the next 'Proper' manager appointed by these clowns will be a success? Nah.....the only glimmer of hope for Rovers fans at the moment is GB &TMc and we should give them all our support and hopefully they have the ability to turn the club around....make no mistake it's nearly job impossible for them because of the interference/presenc

There are only 3 successful long term managers in the country, Ferguson, Moyes and Wenger, even Wenger is taking stick at the moment. What makes the knobheads who post on this website think that it so easy to find the right manager?

Don't get me wrong, I'm not wearing a rosette emblazoned with 'Brown for Rovers', I just think some managers get more flak than they deserve. There's no guarantee that, should they come back, Hughes or Souness could emulate their previous success at the club. There's also no guarantee that someone like Brown or Coyle would be a failure just because it didn't work out at some of their previous clubs. Both these men got teams promoted from this division so they can't be that bad.
I don't think we should upset the apple cart, where Bowyer is concerned, as he's got the team playing with belief again. However, I am worried that a loss or two will have us questioning where our new manager is when, it would appear, Venky's have stopped looking while they try to resolve the Shaw/Agnew/Singh situation.
Here's hoping that Wolves don't play as well for their caretaker-manager as our boys are doing for theirs!

Some great comments by Phil Brown on 'Goals on Sunday' earlier. Yes, he was stating the obvious but it's nice to hear someone telling it as it is, even after they've submitted their CV. I doubt he'll get the job, and he already seemed resigned to that, but I'd rather have him than a coach working under Shebby Singh, as seems to be the most popular belief on here. There was also an interesting point made by Ben Shephard with regards to fans and owners concentrating more on the bad times in a manager's career as opposed to the good jobs they've done elsewhere.

Decent draw in the FA Cup - would have preferred a home tie of course - but I recall going to Derby for a 4th Round replay in 91 and Rovers won 5-2! Bent got a couple I think. Also remember being beat 3-1 at the Baseball ground in a 5th Round tie in the seventies. 30,000 on with a cracking Rovers following. It was so packed that when we were leaving the ground some Rovers fans were trapped/squashed against the tea and pie shack which came off its base and started moving along with crowd.....Derby had the likes of Colin Todd and McFarland, Hector and even Charlie George playing for them - so no disgrace to get beat that day.

The last two years of not only relegated our club and put it in a precarious position, they have deeply divided the fans and I think that's just as big a job to sort out as it is the football side. I used to enjoy the camaraderie at the games, the atmosphere but now, even those sitting near me don't agree. Not just banter either.
I note that these comments have naff all to with BRFC or is that you are using the good name of BRFC to vent your spleen against each other ?
The insults have nothing to do with BRFC - fact !
Why don't you all meet up and speak to each other face to face and spew your bile out at each other let us see what the end result will be, eh ?
It's pathetic.

I am pointing out that it is pathetic, and if giving a view to prevent it lumps me in with it then so be it.
I agree with you that fan against fan is sad, to say the least !
I am crushingly aware of the deep peril that besets our club having endured, along with yourself, for these past two years, but attacking each other serves no purpose at all. I was merely pointing this out seeing as I've sat with folk as yourselves for nigh on 40 years, and never really experienced this type of vitriolic abuse toward each other.
I've met many a supporter on these pages, who have disagreed, and we all get along fine considerate for each others stance. That is all I'm saying - meet up and be dignified in your argument, and maybe these pages will be easier to view.

I'll reply later pal just off out.
Derby - not the derby we would have wished for, but hey, fond memories indeed - Kevin Moran anybody ?

Some great comments by Phil Brown on 'Goals on Sunday' earlier. Yes, he was stating the obvious but it's nice to hear someone telling it as it is, even after they've submitted their CV. I doubt he'll get the job, and he already seemed resigned to that, but I'd rather have him than a coach working under Shebby Singh, as seems to be the most popular belief on here. There was also an interesting point made by Ben Shephard with regards to fans and owners concentrating more on the bad times in a manager's career as opposed to the good jobs they've done elsewhere.

I don't know 100% without checking stats, but his record at PNE wasn't great was it ?
I like the fact Bowyer as slipped under the radar without the pressure of the normal channels(if their are any normal at Ewood !)
Only a vastly experienced manager could possibly come in with the remit that will be put on him, and I doubt that is going to happen thus, Bowyer and Co are at this point a blessing in disguise, I would surmise ?
Would I be opposed to Brown as a manager ? No, but his reputation within the game I believe as been tarnished ? We don't need that to happen down at Ewood !

Good job GB & TMc are producing the goods but let them strengthen the team as they see fit and no as our Global Advisor dreams of doing

I'll get me violin out. Me I were born in Bull Hill, spent me childhood in Ewood and Mill Hill and have had a silver spoon in me mouth ever since.
I have seen the error of my ways though and now understand that the reason the crowd was half that of our last third round home tie has nowt to do with Venkys but is because unemployment, the ticket price and the cost of Christmas has doubled since last time. I'm lucky though because I can just go out and pick £20 notes of the tree that grows in me back garden.

Mail - Allardyce accepts substantial out of court settlement re damages from Kean and the Club - for Keans rantings caught on mobile phone - we cant afford the wages for a decent Manager to take the club forward (Gary not wanting the job) but we can afford pay off's to the likes of Kean Berg Black & Co and if to be believed paying off Hendry's debts to a director - not forgetting the large retainer for Singh's non performance!!!!!
OUT WITH SINGH SHAW AGNEW HENDRY VENKYS COAR

Big Sam v Kean
Since his appointment at West Ham in June 2011 Allardyce has guided the club out of the Championship at the first attempt and they are currently 11th in the Premier League. Kean, meanwhile, is out of work. He will appear on Sky Sports’ Goals on Sunday programme this weekend.

Realistically though the Premiership is more dream than reality now.
Venkys bought the club out of vanity or as a marketing exercise. Its just one of their many businesses and theyll treat it as such, not with the clubs interests at heart as with uncle Jack. They'll just get rid or run it down when it suits them financially and without any conscience whatsoever. They dont care, its just business.
What happens after that is anybodys guess. Whos going to come along and buy us? We were hardly beating buyers off with a stick when we were a well run top ten prem club, had the best chief exec in the country, and there wasn't a recession on.
Not being a doom-monger, just stating some facts, sadly.

Venkys have just got to be the bigest morons in football. Do they really believe that Rovers fans are so increduously thick to believe that yet again more and more promises are being made, statements after statements pour out from Venkys but little or no money or interest.
Singh, why do you keep on telling lie after lies after lies? Announcements tomorrow, tonight, today!!!!!!!!!!!! Get a life, clear off out of Blackburn, give Rovers back to their fans and lets never hear from you again.
