Singh's New Year managerial aim
10:06am Monday 31st December 2012 in Sport
By Andy Cryer, Blackburn Rovers reporter
SHEBBY Singh admits he would like to appoint a new manager at Blackburn Rovers tomorrow – after revealing he has already submitted his favoured candidates to owners Venky’s.
Rovers’ under fire global advisor, who received a torrent of abuse from the travelling fans during Saturday’s 3-1 win at Barnsley, is now waiting for the green light from his bosses to make a move after identifying candidates for the job.
Reserve team boss Gary Bowyer guided a spirited Rovers to just their second win in 11 matches at Oakwell but Singh is hopeful a permanent appointment can soon be made.
Singh held talks with former Aston Villa caretaker boss Kevin MacDonald last week about a potential head coach role at the club, but was still planning to bring in a manager.
The Malaysian bizarrely distanced the club from MacDonald in a radio interview on Saturday, claiming he wanted to be his friend, as well as denying considering offering coach Judan Ali a role in some capacity.
The Lancashire Telegraph understands that Singh’s determination to add coaches before a manager has cooled after receiving a fierce backlash from supporters on Friday morning.
It is believed he now regards ‘experience’ as an important factor as he waits for feedback on his suggestions to Venky’s. Singh said: “I have made my submissions to my bosses.
“They will receive it, then we will talk about it. We would like to make an appointment on New Year’s Day to start the New Year in the right way and to see the back of a horrible 2012.”
Bowyer will take charge of first team affairs for tomorrow’s visit of Nottingham Forest, with the appointment of a new manager far from certain by the end of tomorrow, despite Singh’s hopes.
Director of operations Paul Agnew and managing director Derek Shaw, who returned from meeting the owners in India yesterday, are understood to have different ideas about who to appoint next as boss.
Singh declined to comment on reports that Shaw and Agnew had travelled to India to voice their concern over his alleged interference, other than saying: “My lawyers have advised me not to comment on that.”
He did however talk about having to fight battles inside the club during a fans phone-in show on BBC Radio Five Live on Saturday night.
He said: “As with every organisation not everyone is fighting the same cause. Individuals have their own agenda, this is common wherever you go. I have been fighting the regular battles.”
He also told the show’s co-host, former Rovers player Robbie Savage, how the side needed coaching. He said: “We would like to be coached.
“I think coaching is very, very important. Then comes managing.
“It is not a ready made team, we are in transition, we are rebuilding, not only the football aspect but the emotional aspect of the players, the emotional health of the players after relegation.
“A lot of things have to be considered. I put up my hands and say if I got it wrong I got it wrong.
“Experience is something we are looking at, and I have had a conversation with a couple of very, very experienced managers.
“But there is no secret formula.” Singh has also asked the Lancashire Telegraph to thank the supporters as well as Gary Bowyer and his temporary management team for their efforts at Oakwell.
He said: “While I am disappointed about the reaction towards me, the fans were fantastic in their support of the players and Gary and his team. That is what matters.
“Gary is an unsung hero at the club, and he and his team were brilliant on Saturday. It was a tremendous effort from everyone."

Shaw and Agnew are no Williams and Finn, but they know a hell of a lot more than you, your a failure in your football career and a Malaysian tv pundit at best. YET, you had to put your stamp on employing Berg rather than an experienced manager like Ian Holloway, why? Because you have no idea do you!?
When Berg was employed I actually thought, you know what, maybe not a bad appointment. 10 games later I still thought we had a good manager that had just seen a few performances go the wrong way. January would have been massive for Berg, changing some backroom staff would have been good for him too...
But here we are, 2 months later than where we was when 'say the opposite to what is going on' Singh said we was making the right decisions and we are back to where we was 2 months ago. The only issue now is we dont have the managers that were available back then and we will DEFINITELY not have a manager in quick enough to assess the current squad to make an informed decision on who to replace in the January window... Even if we do employ them tomorrow!!
You really are a 1st class turd and deserve to be sacked... WHY ARE YOU EVEN HERE? WE DO NOT NEED YOU AND YOU ADD NOTHING TO THE CLUB BUT CONFUSION! SHAW AND AGNEW DO NOT NEED YOU HERE SO GO HOME AND LEAVE BRFC ALONE!! WE WILL BE BETTER OFF WITHOUT YOU!

Boycott home games and get the message through to Venky's and Singh.
I admire your stoicism in defence of your team on these threads, but the perpetrators of your club's downfall don't give a flying **** for your opinions.

- Can't define his own job
- Can't answer a question without contradicting himself or sounding nonsensical
- Can't understand it's not a good idea to praise Tottenham's result when he's employed by Rovers
- No experience of English football or management yet seems to be running a club based on the fact he's Asia's equivalent of Mark Lawrenson
Chances of any decent football manager not purely coming for the money - 0%
More tragedy than comedy.

Coaching, coaching is very important and so is managering, managering is important too. And what about running, running has to be involved at some point but not just running on the spot with a bit of kicking, kicking is always good but much better away from your goal box.

I used to live in Malaysia for a while and remember you as someone who just talked too much but knows nothing about football! When I heard you were coming to join Rovers, I thought you would make us a laughing stock and you certainly have!!
And yes, I agree with the comments by ChrisDeBerg above that whilst Shaw and Agnew are no Williams and Finn, they know SO MUCH MORE than you, Shabby.
On the subject of our new Manager, The Mirror has reported today that Alan Curbishley, Phil Brown, Billy Davies and Iain Dowie are in the frame.

Get Agnew to make statements so every word, sentence he says is analysed over and over again and then speculation, innuendos, rumours can spiral as is the case at present. Just take a back seat Singh. He gets paid to do that. Also find the mole within the club who have been allegedly leaking information including team sheets well before passed to opposition teams. There re people undermining the club and need to be weeded out..
More Anti-Shebby Singh propaganda from Paul Agnew & Derek Shaw doing the rounds this weekend in the tabloids, Agnew&Shaw are the really poison at BRFC any fan that does a little research(other than reading the tabloids) knows that. Singh's a nutter but his heart seems to be in the right place, Shebbys just very misguided because his so-called Colleagues have being playing him from day one(just like they have been playing the venkys from day 1 of there take-over).

The problem with rovers fans is that venkys have nurtured such suspicion in us we are now compelled to identify the suspect. We have to realize that there isn't just one. We have a complicated crime ring and with venkys as the clueless ringleader there is a play off going on between the others - Agnew, shaw, Singh possibly with influence from JA. Singh is the bumbling stool pigeon. Agnew(don't forget means ally ) and shaw are playing him like a fiddle. Agnew is not to be trusted. If they get Singh out, we are in deeper trouble believe me.

There's no doubt that Singh is a complete buffon, I'd agree with you there. I do believe, however, that Agnew and Shaw are the real villans here and am in no doubt that all the stories leaked to press come from them. They were both brought in by Kean and they're allegiance is to a certain management company run by a certain agent. They ALL need to be removed and replaced with decent football people who don't have their own agenda. Unfortunately I don't believe Venkys have the sense to do this.Worrying times ahead.
He prattled on about watching BRFC for many years and us not having a "footballing philosophy" - that's key to his whole approach and the basis for him interfering at every level at the club. What he wants is (1) to decide and impose his own footballing philosophy and style; (2) put in place a coaching regime that will deliver that philosophy - hence his moves to put in coaches first before a manager, who not only teach footballing skills but do the fitness, diet and psychology stuff; and then (3) a manager is put in place to motivate the team on match days. In Shebby's model, the manager is almost superfluous - and therefore doesn't need to be expensive, doesn't need to be influential and doesn't need to be a big name. In fact, he's just a figurehead and someone who speaks with the media. In order to maintain this "philosophy", Shebby WILL get involved in transfers and team selection. It is clear that SS thinks Portugese players in particular fit in well with his "philosophy" and they are cheap to boot. Unfortunately, this model is not really in use in England. Managers DO have a much bigger role - they do get involved in transfers (of course sanctioned by the chequebook holders), they do select the team and they do decide on footballing tactics and style of play. What SS and Venkys are trying to do - and it won't work - is flip the English model on its' head. Hence the total mess at Ewood. Hence the internal divisions - Agnew, Shaw et al wanting to do things in the traditional way, SS trying to take complete control of the club to impose his vision and having to talk nonsense all the time to the media to explain these bizarre comedic chain of events. Let Shaw take control and bring back some sanity.

At this moment in time I would rather Rovers did a Rangers- be demoted to whatever League and start again under different ownership but with Rovers true interests at heart ( and I say that supporting Rovers for over 60 years).
Why can't we have a decent owner and chairman like Dave Whelan,an ex Rover?
My thoughts are that as Merlinthevoiceofreas
on2's very shrewd analysis, Shebby is trying to make his mark on the team and club and while I still maintain the rumours of him forcing team selections are exaggerated, I also feel he is wanting to become the next Wenger/Mourinho in the future after guiding this club to success as he believes he can. The Kean debacle has allowed him to cement his position, but he was brought in for exactly the reasons of "fighting the enemies" as he claims, as Venky's probably felt they were losing control of what was happening at the club.
That said, calling for Singh's dismissal is not going to be counter-productive at this moment, as will protesting or boycotting. He appointed Berg on results based continued employment, and fired him after deciding it wasn't working. As concerned as Venky's will have been by the continued tumble down turn results wise, they will probably at this moment breathing a sigh of relief that they didn't have to go through the Kean fiasco again and I very much doubt Singh has been damaged much by the sacking - probably a lot more damage from the bumbling interview the other day, but not significantly so.
The solution? Shout from the rooftops, Social media sites - Twitter especially, who should be the next manager. I don't particularly like Hughes, McLeish was my choice after Berg's sacking, but with him out of the running, Im putting my mark against Hughes.
Hughes has a HUGE backroom that follow him and he can bring stability to the club AND curb Singh's Championship Manager aspirations whilst we get the club back on an even keel.
Singh likes to listen to play to the crowds, let's voice in Unison our choices of REALISTIC and AVAILABLE managers that have either shown interest or you think would come to the club and do what is necessary.

Shebby Singh rather than wasting time showing Judan Ali how Rovers coach their team (not too well) should spend his time visiting Wigan Athletic, a glowing example of how a small town English club runs and operates a successful operation. It would be time well spent. Get the Venkys to arrange a visit too!!

We are not going to ge new ownes so we have topt up with this as we put up with Kean's disastrous time here. The Venkeys need to let English people run the club and stay out of it alltogether.Alan Curbishly is the best name mentioned but Mark Hughs would be great as I think he was our best ever maager especially in the bargain basement transfers he made mo money rom his transfers than he was paid.

MerlinTheVoiceofReasCan't disagree with any of that except that Shaw is not to be trusted either. From what I've been told from someone who works at Brockhall, he and Agnew are assocciated wth the management company that Kean belonged to and we all know who runs that particular company. They all need running out of town and the sooner the better.

McRover wrote:Shebby's 5 Live interview was a masterclass in obfuscation. However, if you read between the lines you can just about decipher what he's (wrongly in my view) trying to do.

Note just some of the stories that have got to the LT over recent days regarding all the Portuguese players in the team, SS doing the training, KM and JA hired as coaches etc. All since refuted and none proved correct - as yet. PA has strong press links and I suspect he is behind a lot of the negative stuff coming from within. People who have met SS tend to say he is eccentric, probably out of his depth, but has generally been true to his word. It wouldn't surprise me to find out that the managers/ coaches A & S have been pushing are linked to the Agent who shall remain nameless.
More Anti-Shebby Singh propaganda from Paul Agnew & Derek Shaw doing the rounds this weekend in the tabloids, Agnew&Shaw are the really poison at BRFC any fan that does a little research(other than reading the tabloids) knows that. I read a blog lately from Glen Mullen where he also casts doubts over the role PA plays at the club. Truth is none of us really know. We all suspect 'dark forces' at the club. I just don't think it's SS. That said I'd have JW back in a second! Aye

For everyone else, we know what we need, as long as we get the right person, we can still have a club to build on and get behind. Venky's arent going anywhere in the short term, and what they would leave behind wouldn't be anything that would resemble a club competing in league football, People keep assuming we've hit rock bottom, It might feel that way from where we were, but it certainly isn't in jumping distance to how far we could fall should the unthinkable ever happen.
We need an experienced manager and we need the full force of the real fans to get behind him and whatever team we are left with this next year.

"Shaw, An experienced administrator.. "
"That was the last straw.." Really Derek? Haven't heard an awful lot from you or that other Anderson stooge up to now. What happened? Singh taking all your power away to continue stealing money from the club via your dodgy agent dealings spoiled your plans?
As Sonny said, Singh may be a lot of things, but stripping the club of its assets isnt one of them. His ambitions are much less sinister - small comfort that it is - but it's becoming very apparent now who the "enemy" he referred to are, and the sooner they're gone the better.
With regard to the Senior players who are not happy, you are getting premiership wages to sit on your butts and to be brutally honest, you are average to downright mediocre in some cases, and if you want away in January, feel free to go. I very much doubt the big clubs are going to be hammering at the door to get most of you, but all the best and thank you for your contribution over the years is all I have to say to you.

It's almost as ridiculous as those people saying that Hendry is only being kept on because he owes money to someone from the Walker Trust. This is the same Walker Trust, I assume, who sold the club to Venky's over two years ago, long before Hendry was hired?
There's far too many people on here who want to believe that the club is rotten to the core just because they don't like the initial influence Jerome Anderson had at the club. These same people will try to convince you that he still has some influence, despite Venky's saying he doesn't.

As for the players you mentioned leaving in January so what? They are too slow/old and not fit enough for this league and I would add a few more players to your list. They have been good servants but needs must and teams need fast paced players in this league with zero time on the ball.
Has anybody a clue as to what Venky's are trying to do with Rovers?
They have not done one single thing right. How on earth did this shower end up so called millionaires? It must be very easy to make money in India. The farce still goes on. Singh is obviously crazy and totally out of his depth but Venky's still trust him and think he can walk on water.
We are going down to League 1 - no question. But why, oh why, are Venky's so happy to see it happen? There is nothing in it for them, is there?
Now it looks as though Givet, Pederson, Dunn and Robinson are going to be sold in January. Another bad move and a downwards step. Do Venky's know or care how stupid they have made themselves and the few supporters (myself included!) that are still left going to matches?
I wouldn't rule anything out, with IDIOTS like Shabby Minge calling the shots.

I ask again, why are they now asking for Singh's removal having communicated zilch to the fans and contributed even less to its success?
Why are the articles in the rag trade showing them as having had enough of Singh, when Kean's disastrous tenure seemed not to bother them enough to warrant demanding his removal?
The "experienced administrator" that is Shaw seemingly, why have we lost our best players and resources and replaced with unknowns and over-the -hill has beens? I don't recall hearing them throwing a tantrum at those ridiculous decisions.

I apologise for my absence over the past 8 weeks.
Obviously a lot of things have happened at Ewood during that time.
Just when I thought things were for the better following the departure of Steve (the man who could not win football matches) Kean along comes ‘loose cannon’ Shebby Singh pic above with weird and wonderful ideas that defy any logic.
With the possibility of a former Bollywood film star becoming the new Rovers manager, the cub is beyond a laughing stock.
I predicted at the beginning of this season when Rovers were in 4th place after a handful of games and Kean was still in place. That the Rovers would another relegation battle.
The same opinion applies even though Kean has gone. The scatter gun transfer policy of Kean and Singh has resulted in the signing of extremely mediocre players. The team is terrible and is flattered by it’ League position of 15th.
Any Rovers fan under the illusion that Rovers can mount a promotion challenge are sadly deluded.
Fighting off relegation and staying in the Championship is the only issue and some people need a reality check.
Clearly this site needs to spring back into action to highlight some of the issues blighting Ewood Park.
Reg will now return out of semi-retirement in the new year, Mrs Desai, Balaji and Ventkatesh Rao, Jerome Anderson and Shebby Singh, you have been warned.
REG IS BACK. WATCH THIS SPACE.

"Singh taking all your power away to continue stealing money from the club via your dodgy agent dealings spoiled your plans?"
Yes, it's a question but it still contains the premise that you believe them to be taking kickbacks from underhand dealings. If you'd asked, "WERE you stealing money from the club before Singh came along, etc..." then it becomes a question without any personal beliefs attached to it.
I hope you've got some Aloe Vera to hand because you just got burned!
Also how old are you? Burned?
Hmm... 28 should be an age of maturity.. but people mature at different rates I suppose. Do yourself a favour, read back through both our posts and come back when you figure out what was wrong with the conversation. Till then I'll just assume your petulance is due to some need of attention, which clearly from your posts is telling.

It would be like hearing someone with a Russian accent talking about the future of Lancashire cricket club !!!! (Just is not right....neither is it cricket or football !!!)
How many times he said "you know" before giving his evasive "dribble" to a question) I lost count half way through his time on air.
He certainly LOVES TO HEAR HIMSELF and also trys very hard to please all the people all of the time....YET, certainly does not "fool all the people" by a long shoot !!!
You get a feeling he is hell bent on being "Mr Popular" to feed his own ego and have the Venky,s hear what they wanting to hear...
Again, we can only go back to the background of the Venky,s & Singh,s whom both parties are without the slightest sign of experience at this level of Football we therefore can expect NO wisdom in decisions to be made for the future of the club.
Very sad to think there are people in the club playing their own power game to the detriment of the club....this also is very bad for the clubs future indeed.
Money plays a great part for many individuals and sadly it is very hard to see where the loyalty and honour of playing ...and being a part of the future of Blackburn Rovers, begins....and money (& ego,s) becoming the number one incensive !!!!!!?????
"you know" I love this Blackburn Rovers..."you know" I always think of Jack Walker "you know" ....and great players like Bryan Douglas & Ronnie Clayton you know....and I want the fans to know "you know" I want glory to return to the club you know....and I will be working day & night "you know" to make this happen.....ARE WE HAVING A LAUGH !!!
Very best wishes to all true Rovers supporters everywhere....

You call that inside story?
Every man and his dog knows senior players were not impressed with Berg's appointment and the Daily Fail's exclusive already tells you who spun THAT leak.

Just for the record, 28 isn't my age, so I guess that's another thing you were wrong about. Not that age has a direct correlation to intelligence.

Shebby Singh is merely a puppet on a string. He took pelters for the delay in appointing Berg and now he is going to rush in and announce the Norwegians successor in a sop to the supporters. The man hasn't a clue. He is delusional, misguided and completely out of his depth. It's time for him to return to the warmth of a TV studio. However judging by his interview on 606, he's not good at that either. The man doesn't even seem to know what his job entails and now he has reputedly alienated Derek Shaw and Paul Agnew. He is a loose cannon and needs to leave the club now.
Happy new year to all who care about Rovers, everyone who takes the time to post on here does that in spades or they wouldn't bother, we may not agree with each other all of the time but we are all true fans.
In reality there is nowt we can do about the situation at Ewood apart from getting behind the players and coaching staff against a decent Forest side this afternoon and praying for a win.
With Shebby, Shaw and Agnew playing "My dick is bigger than yours" and Venky's burying their heads in chicken manure as usual I suspect the bumpy ride we have experienced for the last two years isn't over by a long chalk.
I am actually looking forward to getting down to Ewood today, either I haven't sobered up yet or the Valium has kicked in :-)

Lets support the players and coaching staff then make our feelings felt about the idiots in charge after the game.

How can Singh give the Indians a list of his preferred candidates for Madam to make a decision and what will her decision be based on? Blind leading the blind. Surely the FA or the football league should be calling for an explanation from the clowns. And what about Taylor of the Players Union. Not a word. Is he looking after his members interests, nit to mention him being a so-called pseudo Rovers fan. Does no-one out there care?
The FA or Football League can't and won't investigate how a club is being managed; that is the owners' prerogative. Venkys will say they have acted as they saw fit and can point to spending a shed load of cash on transfers and wages as proof they are not "asset stripping" as has been suggested on here countless times.
They have appointed Singh as some kind of b@st@rd offspring of a Director of Football and CEO. Sadly he is grossly under qualified for either, let alone a combination of the two.
Peter Scudamore said there are only so many things the fit and proper test can consider; the owners turning out to be f@cking useless is not one of them.
As for Taylor; he is the highest paid union official in history. The operative word there is "union". He represents the well being of his members and the disproportionatly high wages some of Rovers' players "earn" would not seem a reason for him or the PFA to have any cause for concern. Their interests are being looked after quite nicely thanks very much without him having to stick his nose in.
Who knows who the villains are? Singh shouldn't be within a million miles of Ewood whilst Agnew is grossly underqualified and Shaw a proven failure at PNE. They would all seem bizarre appointments until you realise how they all got their jobs in the first place. Venkys had no idea who to give Singh's job apart from Singh himself whilst the other two were promoted and appointed resp. on the say so of Kean. He was forced out by Singh, allegedly, so there is little wonder there are serious ructions within the club.
Ultimately Venkys are the ignorant and inept villains although the others have played leading roles in the farce.

Every man and his dog knows senior players were not impressed with Berg's appointment and the Daily Fail's exclusive already tells you who spun THAT leak.

Do Venky's know or care how stupid they have made themselves and the few supporters (myself included!) that are still left going to matches?Venkys didn't buy Rovers for the love of the game or club, they bought it to introduce the Venkys brand to a Europe hence the desire to play in the champions league. They anticipated the degree of publicity associated with champions league clubs and that publicity carrying association with the Venkys brand. Get the brand known in Europe and the UK then introduce the chicken shops. Venkys have certainly got the publicity but not how they expected. I think a certain Colonel can sleep soundly at night not fearing competition from this lot. What has transpired is that Venkys have done a Ratner ( anyone remember Gerald Ratner???)
