FULL TIME: Barnsley 1 Blackburn Rovers 3
5:03pm Saturday 29th December 2012 in Sport
By Andy Cryer, Blackburn Rovers reporter
MANAGERLESS Blackburn Rovers finally gave their supporters something to smile about with a determined 3-1 victory at Barnsley.
Caretaker boss Gary Bowyer, helped by Terry McPhillips, got his side to produce a disciplined display as they comfortably saw off a poor Barnsley side.
First half goals from Josh King and Ruben Rochina and a late strike from Jordan Rhodes were enough to give Rovers just their second win in 11 matches to halt their slide down the Championship.
The result was rarely in doubt from the moment King raced clear on 29 minutes to fire Rovers ahead, with Rochina doubling the lead just before half time.
Substitute Colin Kazim-Richards, Jordan Rhodes and Rochina all went close to making the lead even more convincing as Barnsley looked like tamely surrendering.
The hosts were given hope on 76 though as Stephen Dawson stepped forward to rifle a shot into the top corner to give Rovers a nervy finale.
Substitute Nuno Gomes should have made the game safe in injury time but somehow shot wide from close range with the net gaping, after good work from Kazim-Richards.
Rhodes did make sure though in the dying seconds as he slotted home from 10 yards.

For goodness sake, don't some folk ever stop moaning? Whether top or bottom, all teams need to be beaten. Stop carping and get behind the lads, this is the result that is sorely needed and could be the turning point. Never mind about Venkys and Shabby Singh, whatever Mr Bowyer and his colleagues have done, they have got a result, so lets get behind them and the players because they are only ones who can turn it around. Stop being so flipping pessimistic!!!!

Rovers win away,
Austin off in a body bag
Eddie Howe undefeated since moving to a bigger club with ambition.
And like the Myan calander predicted Rodriguez, the england international, scores once every three thousand years.
I'm glad nob out Nugent , another blinding Burnley England international, slappe
d it in the onion bag.Maybe he'll get a recall to the national squad along with England internationals Richard Chaplow and Charlie Austin. Pity he went off in a body bag as the one man team couldn't manage without him.
Wth this conveyor belt of England internationals coming out of Burnley Sir Alex must be taking note. Richard Chaplow another household name England International, maybe he should replace scholes at United.
Hang on a minute I've just worked it out
Jay Rodriguez 3.5 million per goal, they must be fantastic goals if they are worth that much.

Bowyer had a better balanced side out in one game than weve had all season. If he keeps putting round pegs in round holes, which is all we were asking for, then why not, instead of playing lowe at right back and no-one on the right side of midfield and all Rovers attacks coming down a one sided left hand side which is too easy to defend against. Lets see what happens.

Yes, we beat a bottom of the league in a week where if we were beaten 10-0 by the bottom of the league team, no-one would have been surprised seeing that Bowyer and co. had 24 hrs to prepare and the team must be in as much chaos as the circus off the field.
Well done lads, Rochina was sublime, King and Rhodes deserve credit, as do the rest of the team and the caretakers for pulling together and getting the win.
A special mention to the away fans today, you were amazing. Still smiling, we needed this, the fans deserved this.

on the subject of what is his role as "global adviser" - his response was to fight the enemies within the club and outside the club, and to get the club on an even keel after the mess that rovers were in.
he is incapable of answering a question - incompetent in the extreme. he is thick beyond belief. how on earth can this club be taken seriously when you hear this bloke talk......no decent manager would ever come to this club whilst these idiots are in charge.....those of you that believe the likes of sparky will come back are, quite frankly, living in cloud cuckoo land (would you want him to introduce kia joorabchim to rovers anyhow? - he can make JA look like mother theresa).
some lad asks how long will it take to get the new manager in - all he says is 2012 has been a bad year. another bloke says we meed to get it right - - shebby reassures everybody that he will "definitely get it right" arse and elbow spring to mind.
great win today - but at the club the chaos continues - shabby is just full of soundbites. gross tumescent udder. a cancer within my and your club.
the heart has been ripped out of our club - now the shebby is snuffing out our soul. there is nothing left.

He said nothing about the manager who, when and where or give any real information .He just kept saying the annoying "you know" i personally do not KNOW anyone in the real world who speaks like that. What is going on this is madness do the Venkys actually comprehend what is going on at Ewood ?
Please get a manager who will take the club forward the likes of Pat Fenlon,Mark Robbins or Phil Parkinson and some decent administrators and clear out the dead wood. I now really fear for the club after listening to Mr.Singh.

Bowyer knows this team inside out with all the youngsters that have come through. 1 game 1 win is a start. He's no muppet and been at the club for 8 years.
FFS some of you so called Rovers supporters are a disgrace to the Club and to the area of Lancashire. Aim your opinions at the owners and not the Employees of BRFC.
Most fans agree Berg should never have been given the job in the first place, as he wasn't qualified to take on the monumental task of trying to follow the mess that Kean had left.
Given the fact that he was given the job, most fans thought he wasn't given enough time to turn things round.
Eric Black did a reasonable job in the few games he was in charge and most fans could see that.
I think that living half way round the world , if you do, you're not in a position to criticise Rovers fans who have watched the shambolic management of the club at first hand.
Anyone who has been 'abused 'as you call it, has deserved it.

Mr.Singh has just embarrasssed himself and the club on R5 he has at least stated Judan Ali will NOT be employed at Rovers. He said alot but said nothing i cannot belive we are employing this gentleman in his present role.
We need a proper PRO who will give an air of authority and state facts. It just goes to show what happens when thier is basically a circus running the club.
The ONLY thing he said which showed a glimpse into "life on planet Rovers" was that, one of his jobs was to defend the club from "ENEMIES from outside and INSIDE the club".
Otherwise he showed himself for exactly what he is - STARK RAVING BONKERS MAD !!

Had we taken our chances against Blackpool first half
Burnley first half
Middlesbrough first half we would be in the play off places
We have got into some great scoring positions - Got in behind Middlesbrough numerous times in the first half but no end product.
Midfielders with the fitness to get up in support of our attacks would have had numerous goals by now.

This win could be priceless, but only if it is backed up by a home win against Forest, who are a far better team than Barnsley, but you never know.
So for that game at least lets remember what Blackburn Rovers are and get behind them 100%, forget the Venky's and Shebby the clown for 90 precious minutes.
All that matters are the 11 guys on the Ewood pitch in the blue and white for that 90 minutes.

Shebby on 606 said lot of nothing but at least he shows his face and meets his critics head on. People want answers, he cant give answers he doesnt have. All Ive heard up to now is how bad he was, how about mentioning the fact that he refuted any interference in team selections, that he had no plans to employ Judan Ali and admitted his choice of McDonald as coach?
Seems like the only things people want to concentrate on is how bad he sounded on the radio. I personally thought his calling anyone who listened to those stupid rag rumours to be stupid was ballsy and wholly accurate.
It seems people have a very short memory that only a short few months ago people were pleading for him to get rid of Kean - which despite Keans resignation we all know what and who the catalyst was in making it happen.
Yes, he got the Berg appointment wrong, he admitted as much, but there were just as many people on here calling for his resignation - myself included - and what happens when he's sacked? the same people have nothing better to say than point out that Berg should have never been employed in the first place!
I'll take any balanced argument and opinion as long as its based fairly, but it seems that management bashing seems to be the only thing some people on here want to do.
We won today - not that many people seem to have noticed. Having a conversation with a fellow traveller to the game earlier when we were discussing the comments online and he pointed out that the majority of those commenting couldn't have even been to the game today, judging from the timing of comments and I had cause to reflect that only those who were there today would have understood how significant this win was compared to Singhs insignificant interview. Yet all anyone seems to be discussing is the interview. Funny that isn't it?
Tonight, I should be floating on air from the win, but after reading comments online, here and other social media sites, my heart is heavy. With regret I have to admit to myself that if it wasn't for my love for my beloved Rovers, I would not want to be associated with those who thought boycotting and then sitting online slagging off everything and everyone involved in the Venkys management.
My team played its heart out today. My fellow fans sang their hearts out - as they always have. Its a pity that it just isn't enough for some.

1 - superb game today , Well done all .
I was a little worried when The Tykes got one back . Anyway , I didn't quite understand what happened when Josh King scored - then a minute later , he was fouled by McNulty - we get a free kick - then a minute later King gets a yellow card for dissent . What was that about ? - I was listening in t'radio but keeping my eyes on the road was more important!! Very grateful for responses .
2 - this is from a mate , who is a strong Tory (and Rovers supporter) .
So don't shout at me !!
"How could anyone expect Berg to wave a magic wand and sort out the **** - that is like expecting Cameron to sort out the **** Labour left , in a coupla months" . Interesting point .
3 - this is from another mate (my, did we all have a chat in t'pub!!) . He suggests the boundaries of Lancashire are redrawn so that Burnley becomes part of Yorkshire .
I daren't really give his reasons as they are somewhat offensive (to chimpanzees) .
Sorry to go on .

I can however, and do, share your obvious delight that we won today.
No I wasn't there, although I would have loved to have been, but circumstances dictate that I could not.
I am not an armchair supporter and have supported Rovers since my dad took me for the first time at the age of seven, and believe me that was a long time ago.
Normally I'm an optimist and a glass half full man, but under the present management I can't see a way forward.
Singhs intent seems to be on running the show at all costs, hence his insistence to appoint a coach / inexperienced manager who he can manipulate and exert his authority.
I don't believe Berg was sacked purely on the results of the last ten games but because, being the honourable person that he is, confronted Singh on his running of the club
Let's hope that today's result is a turning point in the season, whoever is the manager in the immediate future.

We were terrible for first 20 mins and if we'd conceeded a goal then we could have been totally over-run.
Got the goal then that settled the players.
Great 2nd by RR and into 2nd half we were cruising when they scored out of the blue and even against 10 men (1 of their players went off injured near end) we were awful - kept giving the ball away (Scott Dann especially) instead of holding the ball and running the clock down.
Gomes missed a sitter before JR finished superbly to settle the nerves.
Overall a decent win but the performance was quite mixed and against a decent team we could easily have walked off today having been thrashed.
Don't get carried away - any win is good for us at the moment but Barnsley really are pants (now lost their last 6 home games - you can't get much worse that that).

the only comment that i found approval with is that he denied that he took training the day before. remember this is from a man that is so keen to talk to all and sundry - but was too busy to tell our last manager that he was fired as he "too busy showing guests from india around" - his words.
jesus, the bloke couldn't even say what his job was and started with a "i'm not telling" infantile remark.....you want this guy as head of our beloved club - your funeral. this is the same bloke who subsequently went overboard declaring his love for jack walker simply to feign some empathy to rovers fans - any guesses what jack walker would say to him....my guess is that it would involve s.ex and travel.
the man is a sham - he spends his time with the usual pr guff of complementing the questioner with the quality of his question and then rambling on for two minutes sating nothing and totally contradicting himself. personally, i think this man is as clueless an administrator as steve kean was as a manager. i believe he is extremely dangerous and with his finger on the trigger is a blood-curdingly frightening prospect for all rovers supporters. hell in a handcart springs to mind.
i am reminded of the artwork on the front cover of one of my all time favourite LPs - Gang of Four - Entertainment. it features 3 images of a meeting between a cowboy and native american (not in my interpretation racist)
on pic 1 - it says "the indian smiles, because he thinks the cowboy is his friend"
pic 2 - "the cowboys smiles - he is glad the indian is fooled"
pic 3 - "now he can exploit him"
shebby is the cowboy and rovers supporters are the indian.
as i said it is right to celebrate the victory yesterday afternoon - but too many people are taken in by singh's nonsense - he is the original fibbertigibbet.

Kevin MacDonald is hoping to be confirmed as head coach of the crisis club.
Rovers’ global advisor Shebby Singh is reported to have held talks with the former Aston Villa assistant after the brutal sacking of Henning Berg.
And MacDonald’s appointment would buy Blackburn time in their search for Berg’s managerial successor.
But Blackburn could now decide to follow the Manchester United route again and, after ditching former Old Trafford star Berg, turn to Sir Alex Ferguson’s heroic defender Bruce.
Bruce has done a magnificent job at Hull after becoming boss this summer on a three-year deal.
Hull are currently high and mighty in their bid to chase down Championship leaders Cardiff in the race for a Premier League return.
Money is tight at the Humberside club for new signings this season – but funds would be available at Blackburn for Bruce to bring out the cheque book.
Meanwhile, Judan Ali has denied he is set to become part of the coaching set-up at Blackburn.
Ali, an amateur and youth coach, insists he was only at the club’s Brockhall training base on Friday to observe how the club operates.
He said: “I’ve had no intentions of coaching here.
“It’s for my personal development, observing how a professional club is operated and structured for elite players.”
The former Arsenal trainee, 39, who failed to find a club in England after his Gunners release, said: “It’s a time of volatility and controversy and I happen to be at the centre of it all.”

Robinson, 32, has emerged as a possible successor to Henning Berg amid doubts over whether top choice Kevin MacDonald really wants the job.
Robinson worked at Ewood Park as a coach under Paul Ince before becoming the Dons’ boss in May 2010.
He has two years left on his contract and the Dons would seek compensation for a man who has guided them into the League One play-offs in each of his two seasons in charge.
But the chaos engulfing Ewood Park threatens to undermine any long-term, credible appointment.
Owners the Venky family are said to be underwriting the club’s day-to-day running to the tune of £2million a month.
Shebby Singh, the club’s controversial football adviser, is alleged to have told players and senior officials that he would take over as manager – if he possessed the required coaching badges.
As he doesn’t, he needs a front man to succeed Henning Berg as team manager/first team coach. The announcement last week that Judan Ali would work as first-team coach sparked surprise in some quarters.
The 39-year-old, a former Arsenal trainee, has no track record in professional football coaching.
And Ewood Park insiders have revealed that he had been shadowing the beleaguered Berg for the previous three weeks.
A club source said: “It’s chaos here. The owners appear to have wiped out Berg and his coaching staff with no contingency plan.
“The crazy thing is that anybody who stands up and points out the problems gets ditched.
“Ryan Nelsen, Jason Roberts and Michel Salgado have all been moved on. Paul Robinson and Morten Gamst Pedersen look like being next.
“In the meantime, there’s an ESPN India camera crew following Shebby Singh for a documentary. It could be riveting.
“Two years ago this month we were a secure, mid-table Premier League club when the Venkys sacked Sam Allardyce. It’s been all downhill since then.”

"Forty quid," the dentist said.
"That's a ridiculous amount," I said. "Isn't there a cheaper way?"
"Well," the dentist said, "if you don't use an anaesthetic, I can knock the price down to 30 pounds."
I complained, "That's still far too expensive!"
"Okay," said the dentist. "If I save on time and simply rip the tooth out with a pair of pliers, I can knock the price down to 10 pounds."
"Nope," I moaned, "it's still too much."
"Well," said the dentist finally, scratching his head, "if I let one of my students do it using pliers, I suppose I can knock the price down to a fiver."
"Marvelous!" I said. "Book my wife in for next Tuesday!"

blueblooded wrote:a well balanced argument blue blooded and you are correct, it is entirely appropriate to celebrate today's victory.....however, to describe singhs's interview as insignificant is to underestimate the further damage that is being wreaked by this man.
I would love to agree with you HSB, but truth be told there are far too many on here who enjoy the negatives and ignore any positives if they have to do with the management.
RTID.
the only comment that i found approval with is that he denied that he took training the day before. remember this is from a man that is so keen to talk to all and sundry - but was too busy to tell our last manager that he was fired as he "too busy showing guests from india around" - his words.
jesus, the bloke couldn't even say what his job was and started with a "i'm not telling" infantile remark.....you want this guy as head of our beloved club - your funeral. this is the same bloke who subsequently went overboard declaring his love for jack walker simply to feign some empathy to rovers fans - any guesses what jack walker would say to him....my guess is that it would involve s.ex and travel.
the man is a sham - he spends his time with the usual pr guff of complementing the questioner with the quality of his question and then rambling on for two minutes sating nothing and totally contradicting himself. personally, i think this man is as clueless an administrator as steve kean was as a manager. i believe he is extremely dangerous and with his finger on the trigger is a blood-curdingly frightening prospect for all rovers supporters. hell in a handcart springs to mind.
i am reminded of the artwork on the front cover of one of my all time favourite LPs - Gang of Four - Entertainment. it features 3 images of a meeting between a cowboy and native american (not in my interpretation racist)
on pic 1 - it says "the indian smiles, because he thinks the cowboy is his friend"
pic 2 - "the cowboys smiles - he is glad the indian is fooled"
pic 3 - "now he can exploit him"
shebby is the cowboy and rovers supporters are the indian.
as i said it is right to celebrate the victory yesterday afternoon - but too many people are taken in by singh's nonsense - he is the original fibbertigibbet.
For blueblooded to say that Shebby Singh meets his critics head-on isn't just laughable, it's also not true. Singh turns up because his ego dictates that he should. He then proceeds to spend the entire interview swerving and dodging every important question put to him. If your local MP did that he'd be gone quicker than you could say, "you don't know what you're doing." To say he can't give answers he doesn't have is ludicrous, he's in charge of the day-to-day running of the club so he should have all the answers.
As for calling Singh 'ballsy' for referring to fans as 'stupid' if they believe the so-called rumours, hang your head in shame. There's a reason why fans believe there could be some element of truth in even the most ridiculous of stories written about the club... thanks to the antics of the owners, and Shebby himself, there usually is some element of truth.
I get the impression that a lot of the so-called rumours are actually ridiculous ideas thought up by Shebby. Those ideas are probably leaked to the press by Shaw and Agnew, or possibly a worried supporter-****-employ
ee, knowing that the backlash from the fans will put the kibosh on said ideas before they materialise.
At the end of the day Shebby Singh was an awful TV pundit who got the opportunity to play Championship Manager with a real club. Unfortunately for us he's far more worse at this job than he was at his last.

Thanks for the replies everyone.
HH, I did say he says a lot of nothing, All he did was deny the rag rumours and dodge getting led into any difficult questions by waffling. My point was more that his interview techniques may be appalling, but it was hardly newsworthy in comparison to what happened on the field yesterday?
On the point about his job description, tbh I'm surprised he didn't lose it and shout" change the f*cking record will ya?! "
Im amazed how many times hes been asked that and how many times hes explained it - not that it needed explaining in the first place if you have any business acumen whatsoever or worked for large corporate organisations. He is simply a go-between in the uk for Venky's. A General Manager, Director of UK/European operations. What are his responsibilities? Probably everything from hiring, firing, spending within his budget. Venky's have basically appointed someone they feel they can trust to oversee operations over here. Its what global businesses do.
Why people keep feeling the need to keep asking him that question - usually in mocking manner." Shebby, what is a "Global Advisor". Christ. In a former role at a well known motor company, I spent a significant amount of time in a not too dissimilar (a lot less paid) job going back and forth in boring meetings across the uk, overseeing operations at plants and my job title made me sound like a shelf stacker in Asda. These titles are just made up. Venky's may have done better calling him Director of Operations, but tbh, its not rocket science that he's in charge here! Little surprise his reply to the question was "No".
I thought the callers, apart from that drunk idiot from the coach were brilliant. I didn't think much of either Savage or the commentators ability to stop Singhs waffling. All in all, apart from putting to rest rumours about Ali and his interference and training, he didnt give anything much away. I wouldn't have expected him to have. Its embarrassing listening to his nervous chuckling and his "you know" in every sentence, but he's all we have to work with, and seeing that prior to his appointment, there was zilch coming out of Ewood Park by our laughably titled "Director of Communications", I'll take it.
The glass doesn't always have to be half full, but its **** depressing that on a good win day some people's glasses are still half empty was all I was saying last night.

Shabby has the ear of Venkys, that's the long and short of it, so we'll get a stooge as new manager or someone deluded like Berg in thinking he will have some power.
Shabby on 606 was like a parrott on speed. He has learnt a lot of football cliches by heart which he churns out without any real clue as to the meaning of the words.
I reckon we are stuck with Shabby until it becomes absolutely obvious to Venks that he has failed, which means the end of the season. Shabby is Venkys last throw.
My great fear is that we could be relegated, my hope is that we remain in the Championship. If we do claw our way into the play-offs, Shabby will claim to have turned it round and get another season.
What a mess, there's no hope as long as Venkys and Shabby are here.
Mid-table mediocrity is the best option to persuade Venkys to go.
There's going to be a helluva rebuilding task when Venkys decamp, better to begin it in this div than the one below.

It's easy and quick and you can do it anywhere! the number of times I read that on here "judging by the time you post you couldnt have been at the game". In addition, whether some people were able to or not able to travel to Barnsley or afford tickets is not a basis for judging whether they are a Rovers fan or not. its not a closed shop you know - all in or all out. Also, as much as you are entitled to your opinion, you come across as annoying as many others at the other end of the spectrum do because you give your opinion and criticise others as though you are right - and you may not be!! There is somebody on here who chose to leave this country for Canada and yet is slagging off people in East Lancashire. Whatever you believe about Shebby's motives and ability is not necessarily the truth just as others opinion isnt. Just because listeners argue that he sounded stupid (which I thought he did) and that he didnt answer the questions put to him (which I thought he didnt) and that he came across barking mad (which I thought he did) is no reason to have a go at them. Iv been going for over 40 years, am a season ticket holder still and have seen it all but I can honestly say that if you are not seriously concerned after listening to Shebby Singh and hearing about the other two manipulators off to india to tell over him we are in deep do do. In my view, he sounded out of his depth and partly cuckoo. I know one of two people at rovers and as much as you or I would like to believe Shebby is genuine, there is a lot of stuff going on in the corridors of power, and even if there wasnt, nobody can argue that having our club in the hands totally of Shebby Singh is seriously worrying as he is as much qualified for that job as judan Ali is for the manager job. He initially got Berg in with the full intent on guiding him, which hasn't worked, so he's brought a third rate Bollywood chum in, with a rumour that he is capable, and as people have cringed at that he has rubbished that one.
He cannot help himself he can probably taste the fame and fortune as the Messia who brought a football club back to life.
If people hadn't showed such repulsion at the rumours put out of this person leading the club he'd be in the hot seat now.
I think he is guided a little by public disgust, and as some have said has a pocket full of cliches to make him sound knowledegable.
The main problem is he has a selfish agenda which he is trying to fit with Football club that he knows nothing about.
The only reason I can think of why Venks can stand him must be that they are doing the same in some capacity, and he takes the limelight from them.
I for one didn't like the statement I saw from Mr wild agreeing with the sacking of Berg as reresentative of Blackburn fans, I hope he hasn't fallen into Shebby's pocket.

No, mate the words written are what I would say are fair ?
'Blithe' is what I believe sums up the situation at present and Bowyer did the deed for BRFC.
French Rover pointed out that the performance was possibly for Berg and the win was the icing on the cake.
I'd debate and discuss the point that things can change over 48 hours, and this display proved that (IMO) ? We have to consider here all the rubbish that is blowing around Ewood with folk who do not care for BRFC. Bowyer put paid to that, and his charges for the day followed that up with a win.
The only example I can give you regards Bowyer on the touchline is that he was involved from the first until the last minute. I would go so far as to say that pressure was absent yesterday ?
I'm not having it that Barnsley were poor because as JC points out they were more than capable of putting us under pressure and a tad more quality in the final 1/3 and things could have been different, but that was not the case. In my estimation we battled hard for that result with Dann(yes, Dann) carrying a facial wound as an example !
Admittedly, stronger opposition will carry more threat, but I believe Bowyer could counter that after yesterday ? Of course, it could all go to sh2t the next game should he be in charge too !!
Whappen it is a pleasure in witnessing the away support 100% behind the team, and they knew that following their applause coming off the pitch.
Whappen could I ask that we speak one to one through email ? I have a few things I would like to put to you ?
Twas a good day yesterday for our club if only for a moment, and I'm having some of that mate because the week will be upon us tomorrow and who knows what conjecture is going to pour forth ?

I live in Thailand and the best thing that could have happened was when shebby Singh was given the global adviser job at Blackburn why you may ask well let me tell you, as a TV commentator over here on ESPN he was utter garbage the man was and still is clueless when it comes to football. I endured over 3 years of dribble that came out of his mouth when asked to comment about our beautiful game even the other pundits used to snigger at him behind his back the man is a clueless fool I feel sorry for all those life long Blackburn supporters Big Jack must be turning in his grave.

We need a manager who is prepared to spend 3 years rebuilding this club from the ground up with very little money to spend, not a guy who spends everything he can get then jumps ship.
I said a while ago that we need an experienced old hand with the contacts to rebuild things on and off the pitch. Essentially we are woefully short of Team Management and Development, (Strategy, Motivation, Tactics, Coaching, Scouting) but this needs an infrastructure we don't currently have.
We are no longer in the premiership, so you cannot now expect a top manager to join us, so i think it should be a compromise now of an experienced old guy behind the scenes and a promising manager -
I'd go for Simon Grayson to run the team and ask someone like Dario Gradi to sort things out behind him.
Which means Shebby can spend more time holding Mrs D's hand in India and doesn't need to go to Brockhall ever again.

just looked on rovers website and the following are directors of the club.
robert coar and ghandi babu (directors)
derek shaw (md)
paul agnew (ops d)
karen silk (fd)
now there is no mention of shabby singh on the list and yet by all accounts he is the one doing the hiring and firing, dealing with the enemy within and the enemy without, recruiting managers and coaches, overseeing ins and outs of transfer activities, negotiating contracts....
and yet he ain't a director.......i wonder why?

Mr Bowyer, the match report I saw said the team gave a good disciplined display, someting that has been missing all season. I reckon give the job to Mr Bowyer, he is obviously the sortof guy that is needed to run the team.
99% of newspaper talk and what appears on forums is pure conjecture that has no basis whatsoever.
Until we get an official statement from the club re the manager the only thing I am interested in is what happens for 90 mins on the pitch.

The fact that Dunn, Etuhu, Givet and Pedersen weren't even allowed to travel, let alone make the bench, may give some indication that we're due a similar January transfer window to last year when senior players were offloaded to ease the wage bill.
I'd be very surprised to see a manager installed in time to assess the squad and bring in any players of their own choosing. I sincerely hope I'm wrong.

I'm certain that I celebrated Rovers win yesterday as much as any other fan but it doesn't mean that I think we're suddenly in a better position. Saying that Bowyer should be given the job after one game is the sort of irrational thinking that has led to most of the calamitous decisions made by Venky's and Shebby Singh.

We need a proper PRO who will give an air of authority and state facts. It just goes to show what happens when thier is basically a circus running the club.
He said nothing about the manager who, when and where or give any real information .He just kept saying the annoying "you know" i personally do not KNOW anyone in the real world who speaks like that. What is going on this is madness do the Venkys actually comprehend what is going on at Ewood ?

The building of the team from the academy.
No manager/coach or dogsbody signed before mid Jan.
This means whoever is emloyed will not have time to spend millions
during the transfer window.
Convenient as that is the excuse they will band about when no new players are brought in.
net spend will be nil. All going to plan Mrs D
It's time to hit them in the pocket, and as much as we all love our club,we should all stay away till they sell up or do something positive to build this club back up again.

Isn't the sum of it that we all agree shebby should never have been put in such an influential post at our club. No other club would have given him such a job. He wouldn't even have been shortlisted. Likewise Agnew shouldn't be in rovers employment. His performance even before he got a big promotion was massively lacking. PR was appalling. His alliance with Kean is criteria enough to get him out added to the fact reports from employees say he does very little and he appears to be working in opposition to shebby. Shaw, seems to play no role apart from colluding with Agnew. Nothing more to say about Hendry or Venkys that hasn't been said. Henning Berg would have got more time from Henry VII. Anne Boleyn got a 1000 days. We all want some sense back at the top and we want to watch our team compete. They've reduced us to in-fighting. Just about their only achievement.

Bowyer was immense on the touchline giving solid directions. You can only beat what is in front of you and we did that handsomely today considering the blithe that as supposedly descended on our club. Bowyer showed today that he can transcend that in 48 ours. Priceless.
I won't get carried away, but I will enjoy the day as we should after a win. Take that into the next game on the terraces and we are laughing. 1500 supporters today, and I always comment on the away support - were in full voice for every situation that our club finds itself in. Cracking.
If Bowyer can motivate and find the winning mentality then what is the problem ? I would like to see him given the opportunity should no manager of repute be lined up as I feel we have nothing to lose ? Against the better teams I would be intrigued to see if he could pull it off ? As is rightly pointed out - 8 years, and without quoting me here as I don't know to much of his history, but I was pleased to see some fight, belief(a third on the break after some pressure from Barnsley - this was no Huddersfield) we took full advantage of the situation. Good to see, in my estimation ?

As for getting Williams back, let it go. I've already asked you, on another thread, why Williams would return to work for the same people who led to him tendering his resignation? The short answers is, he wouldn't.

Have a read. Great guy, great blog.
With regards to a midfielder, I think Wilson Palacios would be ideal. He's a great player but can't get a game at Stoke. I'm sure he'd relish the chance to play first team football.
I know I'll get slated for this but why not enquire about getting Hoilett back on a six month loan deal? He's dropped behind Wright-Phillips in the pecking order at QPR but would be dynamite in the Championship. He could be our Thomas Ince.
It doesn't matter if anybody agrees with me or not though as I doubt we'll sign anybody next month.

You said earlier I should hang my head in shame for saying it was ballsy of Singh to call PEOPLE (not just fans, though it suits some to think so) who believed he took training stupid for listening to baseless rag rumours?
How about laying down some proof before throwing accusations of what you "honestly believe" to be true? What are your accusations based on? You don't like him, few people do but that's not proof of any of the accusations being made against him. I'm hardly a Shebby fan. The "Snake" tag given to him is to me is most apt, he's looks to be as slippery as they come and no doubt make a lot more gaffs before we hear the last of him, but please for love of Rovers, let us not pretend to know what's going on in the boardroom. Very few people outside those involved actually do.
By getting sucked into the rumour mill we allow those who enjoy watching our downfall, stir up more hatred and frenzy so we again end up becoming the bad guys whilst they delight in our demise and those responsible gain media wide sympathy and end up looking like the good guys, as was the case with Kean, who has this week, incredibly been portrayed as the saviour we the fans hounded out!

Why , during what was a PR opportunity with our fans would anyone in the right mind mention another club winning as being a positive, why would he think any of our fans would want to hear that. This about sums the man up and it's extremely concerning to think that someone with his poor understanding of the basics in PR (particularly when his last job was working on TV) is running our football club.

Great post pal.
So it goes.....
Arte et labore
BTW I think Baldy was just being sarcastic with his comment about Bowyer Out - I understand what he means well enough and am surprised the regular gloom and doom merchants are not calling for his head yet too...

He is certainly making a lot of noise, what with this Ali bloke coming down to training, what did he say, this was organised months ago and it was unfortunate that all this has happened in the past few days? Call the visit off then, what was the benefit to our club if he was simply just visiting, surely there are more pressing matters to deal with.
Maybe all this noise is to help him build a reputation in the UK and he is using the misguided belief that any PR is good PR.

How about laying down some proof before throwing accusations of what you "honestly believe" to be true? What are your accusations based on? You don't like him, few people do but that's not proof of any of the accusations being made against him. I'm hardly a Shebby fan.

As for needing proof for what I believe is happening behind the scenes, I don't need any as it is not a statement of fact, merely an opinion formed on the back of what has gone on at the club since Shebby Singh was hired.
He made no secret of the fact that he was after Sherwood, then McKinlay, but when fans voiced their disapproval he tried to distance himself from those stories. Stories about Judan Ali being considered for a coaching role were told to Andy Cryer from a club official. Just because Shebby says it was nonsense doesn't mean that there wasn't any truth in it to begin with.
He even had the audacity to say that Balaji Rao didn't say he'd already lined up a manager when the publication that ran the story have stated that two of their employees were there when Rao said it.
Just a couple of points regarding the ret of your reply. Kean publicly stated that he had never even seen some of the players that SHEBBY brought in during the summer, and Berg wasn't even given a transfer window.
You referred to Shaw and Agnew as Kean's cohorts then complain about others stirring up hatred. Steve Kean didn't employ either of them, nor did he have the final say on either of their promotions. There are guys I work with who were pals with an ex-colleague that nobody liked. We don't think that those guys are still working in cahoots with their friend to undermine the person who, ultimately, replaced him. That's just ridiculous.
With regards to the PEOPLE that Shebby called stupid, he was obviously referring to the fans because it was a debate about Blackburn Rovers with questions coming its fan base.
Please don't try and make out that I'm trying to stir up a frenzy. After all, it's not as if I was calling for Berg's head after less than two months in the job...

I couldn't listen to 5 live last night but I did listen to it this morning on I player and quite a few things Shebby said made me think.
Shebby said "I am battling things inside and outside the club", outside is easy, disgruntled fans, me included, that don't believe anything that comes out of Ewood.
But what is the problem inside? Shaw, Agnew, or some of the players and staff who still belong to the Allardyce era?, who can tell.
The fact that certain players appear to no longer part of the future of the club suggests something. As far as I am concerned the players are paid to play for the club irrespective of personal loyalties, it isn't their job or role to get involved, lets face it, as soon as a better offer comes along they will be off anyway and stuff Blackburn Rovers and the fans who idolised them.
Remember a certain Alan Shearer anyone?
Givet, sulks at the drop of a hat, or a cheque for £75k, whatever comes first, Robinson, the best OPTA assists in the PL under Allardyce, now a pale shadow of his former self.
And lets look at Ryan Nelsen, too severely injured to play for Rovers when we desperately needed him, until he got the transfer away he wanted, did any of you see what he did for QPR today?
And I really do suspect the Allardyce engineered his own dismissal, and pocketed a nice fat cheque in the process, but that's football management for you.
I have criticised Shebby left right and centre but I will give him one concession, he has the balls to stand up and be counted, to actually talk to people who hate his guts because of who he represents, and I will tell you one thing, having had to do that in the past myself, that is one of the hardest things to do in life.
When he says "I did not, do not take training", you know what? I actually believe him, because the passion was there, it wasn't rehearsed, it was to me a genuine reaction from someone who is possibly just as **** off with things as we, the fans are.
The simple fact is there are certain newspapers, the Daily Mirror being one, who have never forgiven Rovers for taking the 94 title away from their beloved red scum, and have derided Rovers ever since, so anything they print means absolutely nothing to me, they love nothing better than twisting the knife.
This doesn't mean I trust Venky's, or for that matter Shebby, but at the end of the day they currently own the club I have supported for a huge chunk of my life.
The problem at Rovers is there is too much distrust and hatred, on both sides of the divide if we are honest, none of us know what Venky's want, I doubt very much that they understand it themselves yet.
As far as Shebby is concerned I still think he's a clown, but he took the red nose off last night, in the next few weeks he may just get rid of the wig, then the baggy pant's, you never know.
The rest in reality is up to you and me, the real fans, we have to stop fighting each other and support our club, give the players confidence by supporting them, give whatever management structure we end up with the same level of confidence by supporting them.
If we can't see our way past the current level of hatred then it won't be long before Rovers will be consigned to history, and that will make us, the fans, just as responsible as Venky's for our demise.

And lets not forget Samba, Nelsen, two of the best defenders in the PL refused to play last season, but were fine once they moved away from Ewood.

Because it isn't to me, a Rovers fan.
And what about Givet? When he decides to play he is brilliant, but because last season he had a 12 match or so sulk over £75k "owed" to a "Tailor" from Manchester we ended up have to play Dann who wasn't fit but was the only experienced defender we had at the time.
Is that attitude from another key player acceptable you, a Rovers fan?

And like it or not we Rovers fans have some responsibility because we turned Ewood Park into a bear-pit of hatred against Kean last season, and visiting managers, teams and fans used that against us, costing us valuable home points.
I don't enjoy going down to Ewood anymore, not because we were relegated but because it is no longer the club I have supported for over 40 years.
All that is happening at the moment is our club is sliding into oblivion while we play the blame game instead of trying to put things right.
We have been doing that for two years, it isn't working.

I don't know if he is just a 'populist' who is trying to cement his 400k a year position by currying favour with the Rovers fans - or if he is just genuinely interested in helping the club but as he has no more experience about managing a club than anyone else on here so he takes what he considers the majority of fans opinion and hopes that this is the right decision/choice.
Whatever his intentions are then it is no way to run a football club with over 137 years of history. We need stability and sensibility with good football club management at director level to take the club forward. Though to be realistic and fair to the guy, there are much more devious and manipulating characters than Shebby Singh in football club boardrooms up and down the country these days.
Maybe we were 'spoilt' a little in the past - as we had such a previously well run and professional club that was admired by many.Perhaps what we have now is a symptom of the Murdoch money money money football world and we will either have to live with it or leave it.

Claim and counter claim, rumour and counter rumour, so what happens next, why, if, when and how?
Have you not been watching what has been happening at BRFC ? do you seriously not think something is wrong ?
In many years as a season ticket holder I've never seen such chaos, and I'm bloody sure it wasn't the players or the fans that created it, it was the owners of the club, their advisors, and the management they put in place.
As for Shebby Singh, the man is a deluded chancer and completely out of his depth, the one big thing he has presided over, the appointment of a new manager, was a total bloody fiasco.
So, I will continue to support BRFC, I will continue to support the team, but I will not be told to sit quietly and not have an opinion on whatever the arrogant and incompetent fools want to do with our club.
These forums are a long way from perfect but they are at least a place to debate these issues, and it would appear public outrage is something that Shebby Singh does actually take notice of.
And I am certainly not suggesting anyone shouldn't voice an opinion, but I am entitled to put mine forward as well.
I think I have made it very clear that I want Venky's out and I want Shebby out.
You say the players don't carry any blame? well they were the ones who were on the pitch and got us relegated last season.
And lets not forget Samba, Nelsen, two of the best defenders in the PL refused to play last season, but were fine once they moved away from Ewood.
Is that acceptable to you, a Rovers fan?
Because it isn't to me, a Rovers fan.
And what about Givet? When he decides to play he is brilliant, but because last season he had a 12 match or so sulk over £75k "owed" to a "Tailor" from Manchester we ended up have to play Dann who wasn't fit but was the only experienced defender we had at the time.
Is that attitude from another key player acceptable you, a Rovers fan?
Because it isn't acceptable to me, a Rovers fan.
And like it or not we Rovers fans have some responsibility because we turned Ewood Park into a bear-pit of hatred against Kean last season, and visiting managers, teams and fans used that against us, costing us valuable home points.

When Shebby the Snake engineered the departure of Steve Kean, many on these pages hailed him the Messiah and unfortunately, he believed you. Not surprisingly, most of you have now woken up to realise that he is more a part of the problem than the solution but who can advise the owners that their advisor is deluded megalomaniac? I suspect that Shaw and Agnew are trying desperately to do so but their abject silence to this point speaks volumes regarding their influence over, and commitment to this club. I actually feel sorry for the owners. they have been ill advised, turned over, and stitched up like kippers from the first day they met the Walker Trust, who are, of course, the true villains of this sordid piece. So what does the future hold? Well as with the departure of Kean, we now have the opportunity to start afresh but the managerial appointment is crucial. He must be experienced, credible, popular and strong enough to stand up to interference and to my mind therefore, the only current candidate is Mark Hughes.

My opinion is Rovers players are no different to any others, certainly not perfect but they are unlucky to be asked to work for the biggest clowns in football. All your examples performed bloody well for this club when they had decent managers, Co-incidence ?
Rovers fans similarly have had a bucketful of nonsense to endure, telling us its our fault is simply laughable.
And, by the way, going back to your original post, if you think representing others views when talking to people is one of the hardest things to do in life you have been truly blessed or need to get out more. Its not even close.Try talking to aid workers in the 3rd world, or our troops in Afghanistan, or closer to home the staff at Alder Hey, or in a hospice, they have difficult things to do.
Shebby Singh is a media whore and living his dream at our expense, he can't resist any audience because he seriously believes he can run this club. You may respect him, I don't.

Claim and counter claim, rumour and counter rumour, so what happens next, why, if, when and how?
