Black wants a run to banish the Ewood blues
7:20am Saturday 27th October 2012 in Sport
By Chris Flanagan, Sports reporter
ERIC Black believes Blackburn Rovers need a run of home wins to banish the divisions of the Steve Kean era and restore a positive atmosphere at Ewood – insisting promotion can only be achieved with a happy fanbase.
Rovers host Watford in the Championship this afternoon as their managerial search continues, with global advisor Shebby Singh revealing that he expects an appointment by the middle of next week.
The club are currently conducting interviews with potential candidates but are yet to make a final decision who they want to replace Kean.
Blackpool boss Ian Holloway, who is said to be disillusioned with life at Bloomfield Road, remains among the frontrunners and yesterday refused once more to rule himself out of contention for any of the current vacancies in the Championship.
It is understood he is not yet completely out of the running for the Burnley job.
Harry Redknapp is still believed to be interested in joining Rovers, but only if he receives an offer he cannot refuse.
Rovers have seen a slight increase in attendances in the two games at Ewood since the departure of the unpopular Kean, but they lost at home to Wolves and caretaker boss Black admits players and fans still showed signs of anxiety in the midweek win over Sheffield Wednesday.
The Scot thinks that is a hangover from the Kean era, when home matches were the scene of continuing protests against the manager, and knows it will take time for the nervous atmosphere around Ewood to disappear.
But Black insists that unity will be vital if promotion is to be secured, and thinks home victories now will do much to speed the process.
“It was very difficult for the players at Ewood, especially for young players,” he said of the Kean era.
“It’s trying to get back to where we feel we’re going to win games at home.
“We may not win them all but we need to be feeling that we can win games and we will win games there - having that belief and getting the supporters to believe that.
“But that’s not going to happen overnight. There’s been a fair bit of negativity as we know surrounding the club, it’s not going to be a click of a switch and it’s not going to happen tomorrow morning where everybody’s happy and let’s carry on.
“It’s going to take time and we have to prove to the supporters that we’re moving forward.
“It can only be resolved by performances like on Wednesday night when we dug in.
“I hope they’ve seen that the players worked exceptionally hard to get the victory.
“Without doubt we need the supporters, I don’t care what anybody says.
“If Blackburn don’t get the supporters back on side, with us and shouting, then we’re not maximising what we have.
“To get out of this division you have to maximise everything at your club internally and externally.
“The number one factor is the supporters and hopefully we can do enough to get them back with us.”
Rovers were still watched by only 13,783 against Sheffield Wednesday but Black feels that it is a tentative atmosphere rather than a lack of numbers that is the main cause of concern.
“I don’t have a problem whatever it is, whether it’s 3,000, as long as we can generate a positive atmosphere about the place and get the supporters back on side,” he said.
“But I thought on Wednesday they really did get behind us.
“The players became a little bit anxious in terms of possession of the ball and that then goes on to the supporters.
“It’s not the supporters that start it, it’s maybe just our anxiety which upsets them a little bit.
“Any negativity that is remaining, we need to try to get rid of it.”
The club currently expect to appoint a new boss reasonably swiftly but probably no earlier than Wednesday, as they speak to each person on their shortlist.
Singh is understood to be interviewing the managers on the list who are out of work, with managing director Derek Shaw making approaches to clubs to speak to those currently in a job elsewhere.

As fans we need to hold our nerve today as our anxiety does spread onto the pitch, and behaviour like booing Murphy's introduction aint going to help.
To Eric Black's credit (I would be happy to see him stay on a the new manager's coach by the way as I think he's been spot on with his apprasials of Rover's weaknesses) he dropped Murphy to the bench to give him the kick up the derrier that he needed.Could do with doing the same to Dixon Statue...sorry Etuhu.
By the way have I missed something?Where is Nuno Gomes?

How long do we have to put up with Hendry standing there with his Rovers shirt on saying he cannot pay his debts back, its embarrassing .
Last week you accused him of beating his girlfriend up.
No charges brought and no caution would suggest you made it up which probably resulted in Colin spending a night in the cells.
I know you like to follow him round with your binoculars but you need just as much help as he does. Get a life. your obsessive behaviour is bordering on persecution.

you still bullying people to do what you demand ?
Calling people names because they think they should all be sheep , you think people who are angry on what happens at Rovers , should just get along to the games ,keep their mouths shut and spend their hard earned money ,buy the pies and all will be well.
Are you a maybe you are more than a Rovers employee with a vested interest in the north west chicken industry , I happen to know the old people that Hendry unscrupulouly swindled their life savings out of , I know the pain they old people HAVE BEEN going through, these old folk have lost their retirement nest egg by believing in HENDRY`S LIES. ..
My real name is Foghorn Leghorn and I'm chief PR agent for Venky Chicken ( European division )
I get up early every morning at daybreak to do my cocka doodle doo and then get right on down with some funky chicken aerobics. After a bit of scraping and seed pecking I lay a few choice free range eggs on here. These eggs like little seeds grow into big ideas. They then hatch and record your every move. Once enough info has been gathered we all meet back at the Mother Ship for a debriefing and a bit of a barbie. We plan to take over the entire world.
NeeeeHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH
AHHAHAHAHAHA.
Look at me ma,I made it, I'm top of the world. And you thought I was just that big dumb bird off sesame street, all the while I have been brainwashing kids to repeat after me. If and when I start singing, one of these things is not like the others, everyone in the world who watched sesame street will become a venky chicken zombie just like Hendry and bring back eggs to the Mother Ship. Okay so agent colin got a bit confused and instead of bringing back an egg he brought back a nest egg. People make mistakes. He has been reprogrammed and will now only bring back eggs to the mother ship. Move on or be deleted.

But the gates won't improve until Ego Singh gets off his high horse and let's the club appoint a good manager and then the club can get get done direction back.

We should never be expected to sheepishly believe everything that comes out of any owners, especially ones who have demonstrated such incompetence in running a club such as our current procurers. On the flip side, it is also naive on the part of those who believe the great conspiracy of agents and corruption - as if that isn't part of normal business practice!
Even the most ethical of businesses have consultants and agencies that make a mint out of acting as go betweens. Miles Anderson getting a contract because of dad? Hardly newsworthy. Just look at every government and public establishment, from councils to government where family members move up the ladders garnering huge salaries without question let alone hysteria.
On the whole, people like me and you with the "glass half full" philosophies see the much bigger picture than the constant naysayers and doom mongers amongst us.

Then the fans will get right behind them and start to make Ewood a fortress again.
It's not rocket science.

We will ALWAYS get behind the team Eric, we always have. We boo-ed Kean because he didn't have the good grace or dignity to step down earlier when it became obvious he wasn't up to the job and had lost the confidence of both players and supporters. But we have ALWAYS supported the team and always will.
Shame on the minority that boo players, those who boo-ed murphy as he came on should be ashamed, probably the same" supporters" that leave a match early when we're losing, as we the ones who attended throughout this whole fiasco have supported the team throughout and let our team know we're behind them.
I have always been a glass 'half full man,' but even I am not optimistic about the future with Venkys' here.
I suppose the new managerial appointment should tell us something about their ambitions, or otherwise, for the club.
Do you think her glass is half full, Regular Publicity for the brand, pulling in a few quid, keeps those mad brothers out of the main business, or does she think the whole thing has been an absolute disaster, ripped off left right and centre, nothing i'm told sems to make any sense, wish it would go away ?

I would be jumping up and down in exitement if Harry was appointed. Do anything you can to get Harry, he will ask for lots of money and extras to become manager but it is worth it, because he is the only candidate that would get us straight back up.

And whilst all the so called boycotters were bigging themselves up on here saying we attenders were the minority the solidarity shown by the boycotters was winning the day. In reality there were only a couple of hundred of them and the rest were just Premier league glory hunters which, as I seem to recall, is exactly what I said they were. So you would have been better to say in your post. RUinsane, we know you are always right as history has proven it so, but will you stop going on about glory hunters. To which I will reply, certainly sir, when the rest stop going on about Agnew Hendry and Singh, I have no problem with that at all. :0). Until then, I am going to be as annoying as they are.

Boycotted after that, renewed when Kean resigned as I said I would. 2 of the 4 in my family havent. They have quickly lost the habit and found other things to do with their money and time. That was the issue Venkys were warned about - losing a generation. Football is a habit and it can be lost. That doesnt mean they were only going for glory. They travelled to Ipsch on the first day of the season. They went to Grimsby on a week night when we were last in Div 1. RUinsane, you show a distinct lack of football nous

We 'll never get 25' 000 gates at Ewood, we're not big enough.
But if we can get back to 18'000 gates which is a minimum that we are capable of pulling in then we've fond well.

As far as me showing a distinct lack of football nous, I honestly think I could convince shebby to give me the managers job. All I would have to do is say that I thought his idea that Ryan giggs should play centre half with ferdinand was astounding and also that Messi doesn't bring a lot to the table as far as being a team player. I think we would get on great guns. Is it too late to put my application in?

Safe to say anyone who believes Desai is stupid is being naive if not downright foolish. She hasnt presided over a global conglomerate with the turn over it generates without having a little nouse about how business is conducted
That said, to say they have either taken really bad advice or shown massive incompetence in the handling of their tenure at rovers wouldnt be an understatement. The reality is though, Rovers will be a very small fish on the Venkys plate and whilst the relegation and Kean's departure might have caught ntion, its highly doubtful Desai spends much time worrying about matters at the club, let alone how to find more ways of stripping it as the doomies on here often allude to.
Rovers is a brand advertising vehicle to Venkys and not much more. oh sure little brother wanting to own an english club might have a little to do with it, but what Rovers is worth to the owners as a successful premiership club playing and competing against the big clubs far outweighs the millions they could/have stripped from owing Rovers I believe. Its obvious to all that they have made mistakes with employing agents and allowing the likes of Kean to fool them into believing he could deliver success on a budget. Its the premiership stupid, it was created by money and survives because of it. Venkys may have, learned that fact at a cost - shelling out 8m for Rhodes AFTER relegation sure does suggest this - but I still think they have a serious shock coming to them if we ever make it back to the premiership, what winning a title costs in todays money (ask Abramovich and the Qataris!).

Where your pensioner mates wife starts shouting abuse at Hendrys daughter for looking at her at a family function and then her husband rabbit punched Hendry in the back of the head whilst he was talking to friends leaving him on the floor. I must say Hendry showed a lot of restraint after being floored by a punch that he never saw coming. Its okay though colin and his daughter were the opitamy of dignity and let the police sought it out. As I say, two sides to every story and your stalking is becoming obssessive.

com it will confirm she makes stories up and that is fact ,the other witness was Hendry`s girlfriend , who is well known around Lytham ,and well known amongst all the footballers usually younger ones than Hendry , anyway the police will know her quite well after all it was her who phoned up the police to report Hendry for violence last weekend , anyway so this incident there was 3 witnesses Hendry/his daughter /his girlfriend and even though the restaurant was full and the place was full of cctv cameras there was only a complaint by Hendry and these two females , the police could find nothing on video or any credible witnesses that seen anything even though the place was crowded , and no one was charged or nothing done about it, if you had bothered to read the Scottish Sun it was all in there .The police were considering charging Hendry and his daughter for wasting police time.
A few days after that incident Hendry came running over the road to confront that old lady she had set off a rape alarm to get away from him.
This is all documented in the newspapers in the "Scottish Sun",read it all there, and had your story been true of these old couple assaulting Hendry they would have been charged.

yes I know all about that incident ,and there was nothing to sort out because nothing happened ,there was a statement by Hendry a proven liar ,and two witnesses one his daughter ,the other his girlfriend , his daughter threatened previously to finish off the old couple, and her comment was to the old couple "if you step into Lytham again you will very much regret it and I will end it for you both " also Rheagan Hendry she ran a so called charity that was unregistered by the charity regulators, and still no one knows where the money for that charity went, if you read www.colinhendrylies.

I have nothing against anyone and I want Hendry to pay it back too. So why not let him work and give him the chance to do so?
