Blackburn Rovers set to interview manager candidates

BLACKBURN Rovers have confirmed that they plan to interview prospective candidates for the manager’s job ‘over the coming days’.

Rovers global advisor Shebby Singh had targeted Fulham coach Billy McKinlay earlier this week but that move brought an adverse reaction from supporters, with the London club also turning down the approach.

The club have now confirmed in a statement that they have made ‘sound progress’ in their search to find a new boss and are set to hold interviews with possible contenders for the job, with Singh asking for ‘a little more patience’.

The statement added: “Ewood Park officials have confirmed that the interviewing process of prospective candidates will take place over the coming days.

“Rovers have received a very strong response to the current vacancy, with a high level of candidates expressing interest in the post.”

They should alrady have had a plan though. The fact that they are starting from scratch and arguing amongst themselves about it and approaching people who are not equipped for the job and whose employers won't even let them be approached highlights how ill prepared they were for a change of manager and had no intentions of getting rid of Kean. The were to continue with that idiot and have no support. Now considering all that, are you still confident that these people have a process and know what to look for?

You are as bad as Singh asking the fans to be more patient. We have been more than patient with these incompetent owners, these interviews should have been done over a week ago they have just shown how inept and clueless they really are. Can anybody dig out actual quotes from real people in any of these stories, this is the only area i know of jouranlism where you can print what you like without a quote and get away with it.

So heres a quote " a mate of mine close to BRSIT told me most of the negative publicity comes from them as the investors behind it are trying to devalue the club to get shares in it for a low cost knowing the value of the club will soar once they get in " true i have no idea but its a quote,

Heres another "a gent i know who is very close to Gary flicroft told me flicroft was interviewed 5 weeks ago and shebby to him then Kean was going" true i have no idea but its a quote.

totally agree and thats where the real work has to come from the venkys, which is why we were all probably expecting a quick appointment, i think some of the issue is they are not quite understanding the buisness they are in, when you sell chicken you can gauge its popularity by how many pieces you sell, if people dont like it they buy another brand, football is different, once you choose the brand you kind of stay with it and if you are not happy with the quality you will invest evry waking hour telling people about it rather than just trying a different one.

Really want the lads to win tonight 3 points is a lift we all need regardless of which side of the fence we sit on.

They obviously haven't done nothing because they have made a genuine attempt to contact two people whom they thought might be able to do the job. It's not unusual to have a head-hunting process before you do the interviews. Having said that in their defence their PR is awful and they have come across as unorganised and divided. I haven't much doubt that they will make a pig's ear of it all in the end. My post-Kean hope has rapidly been extinguished.

It is very evident now that this recruitment process is in deep trouble. 4 weeks in (if you accept the unbelievable premise that Venky's failed to think about it before Kean resigned) and Venky's do not even have a strategy, timetable, or candidate profile. Undoubtedly, behind closed doors it will be an even bigger mess than is apparent from the outside. Personally, I think there is a good chance that this appointment could go to Mick McCarthy by default if he is able to get through the interviews without telling Shabby what a pompous little tit he is.

I have to say that Blackburn Rovers have never been run so poorly and act in such a remote way. I really am starting to think that Division 1 football is a real possibility next season and who knows where the season after that. The management of the club is diabolical and it is common knowledge in the football business and so it follows that the likely hood of appointing any body remotely good is increasingly unlikely. The only answer is to promise not to interfere in any shape or form (has to be written in the contract so legally binding) and appoint someone like Graeme Souness.

just as a point the venkys got us relegated , so did the walkers and who left us with the £20m debt the walker foundation , uncle jack should never be forgot but the shower that sold the club and took the money out of it need to be held responsible as well.

In all my 72 years of supporting Blackburn I have never been so appalled as I am right now.

Flitcroft is not the man

I've been around the block long enough (72 years) to know a no good dullard when I see one. And I tell you what I see now: a no good dullard.

Chorley! what sort of credentials are those?

Jesus, can this man even hold a pint glass properly? Kean and Hendry could drink their beer like proper men but I doubt this new puppet of Shebby's even sups real ale. Disgusting.

No - this is all going to end in tears I tell you. 72 years experience tells me. I can sniff out the wronguns I tell you.

When I look at Flitcroft I see WEAKNESS. Yes, there's a bit too much of "I'd prefer to set up the cones for training" about him than "I'm off to steal my neighbours' life savings and pi.ss it all away gambling on NFL all night while drinking special brew". I can see it in his eyes.

This doesn't bode well for BRFC.

What the F8CK have they been doing for the past month? Just goes to show the type of people we have incharge of the club.

Your telling me it takes a month to draw up a shortlist.....B8LLOC
KS!!!

A week tops, then interview only the BEST candidates, IE OGS, Schuster, Glen Hoddle possibly Henrik Larsson, another few days. Should have had somebody in weeks ago!!

If the are going to interview does this mean the candidates are all out of work because if they werent surely they would have to approach clubs first, so does this put Schuster, Benitez, McCarthey back in the picture.
Benni McCarthy? I reckon he'd take chicken for wages...

P.S. Dear Shebby, this is not a serious suggestion, OK?

hahahahahahaha clown!!! Even if we were not a badly run 2nd division laughing stock, he wouldn't come. His family is setted on south coast, even when he was at Spurs, he drove up to London & back because he/they didn't want to move!!

Just saw on ESPN that Harry Rednapp isn't interested in joining the Rovers. Pity but I'm not surprised!

O wen Coyle's name has been mentioned as a possible candidate for the Rovers job which I consider would be a good choice. Following his raw deal at Bolton I'm sure he would serve the club well and bring some decency and value back to BLACKBURN Rovers
