Colne extended their unbeaten run to eight games but it was a less than convincing display against lowly Alsager Town.
The Reds found their confidence after a slow start and Mark Threlfall and Joe Garvin both went close, before Colne finally made the breakthrough on 32 minutes when Liam Goggin’s cross was headed home by Sam Hayes.
It was another lack lustre start to the second half by Colne who had sub keeper Jamie Scott to thank for maintaining their lead with a fine save to deny Stuart Wellstead.
But Colne made sure of victory when sub Matt Tindall scored late on.
