New Mills 3 Padiham 4

PADIHAM brushed aside their 3-2 home defeat against Abbey Hey in midweek to win 4-3 at second-placed New Mills to end the home side’s 17-match unbeaten league run.

Padiham were a goal up and New Mills a man down on 26 minutes when Daniel Jackson brought down Lee Morris when through on goal and the centre back received his marching orders while Morris picked himself up to covert the spot kick.

But former Bacup striker Tommy Turner equalised straight from the restart and in added on time Chris Baguley converted the second penalty of the game to give the home side a 2-1 lead at the break.

Padiham’s second half display left the High Peaks side reeling as first Chris Ridehalgh brought the Storks level on 68 minutes with a crisp volley. Then two excellent passing moves, rounded off by Stuart Telfer and Robbie Smith in the final 10 minutes to put Padiham 4-2 up.

New Mills sub Kane Berkeley pulled one back in injury time to set up a nervy finish but Padiham hung on for a deserved win.
