HALF TIME: Accrington 0 Notts County 1

3:50pm Saturday 6th March 2010

CALAMITY referee Andy Hall is stealing all the attention at the Crown Ground as Accrington trail Notts County at half-time.

The Birmingham whistler made a right mess of what should have been a simple decision midway through the first period when Stanley had the ball in the net through Darran Kempson.

Firstly Hall disallowed the goal for an Andy Procter handball but changed his mind after Stanley protests.

That set County into full moan mode - and Hall changed his mind again to rule out the effort in scenes of complete farce.

It led to bad blood between the sides and although there was little doubt over the award of a 27th minute penalty for a foul on Lee Hughes by Phil Edwards, everyone in the ground was baffled at only a yellow card for the Stanley defender.

Hughes saw his kick saved by Ian Dunbavin - but Ben Davies converted the rebound to give County their lead.

Hall also missed an apparent elbow by Luke Joyce on Davies to increase the on-field temperature with individual battles threatening to take over the game.
