ACCRINGTON Stanley are keen on Guiseley goalkeeper Jonny Maxted.

The Reds are looking to add competition for No.1 Aaron Chapman and Maxted is on the radar.

The 25-year-old played against the Reds in the FA Cup first round clash this season, playing a key role in the National League Lions progressing to round two.

He starred in the 0-0 draw at Nethermoor Park before saving two penalties in the Wham Stadium replay.

Maxted came through the ranks at Doncaster and also had spells with Hartlepool and Forest Green before joining Guiseley where he has been a regular, making more than 50 appearances since joining the club in August 2016.

Should Stanley complete a deal for Maxted it would cast doubt over Sunderland loanee Max Stryjek's future at the Wham Stadium.

Stryjek joined Stanley on loan late in the summer transfer window and went straight into the Reds starting XI for the trip to Morecambe on September 2 only to pick up a knee injury just nine minutes into his debut.

He returned to full fitness in November but the form of Chapman has limited the 21-year-old to two just starts in the Checkatrade Trophy.
