KAYDEN Jackson will be back on home soil when Accrington Stanley travel to Guiseley for an FA Cup first round clash on Sunday.

The 23-year-old, who joined the Reds from Barnsley in the summer, played for the Lions during his youth career and will be cheered on by a number of friends and family who live close to Guiseley's Nethermoor Park ground.

The Bradford-born striker, who has seven goals to his name this season, is determined to make his first start in the competition.

“The FA Cup is still very special in my mind,” he said. “I haven’t played much in it at all. I got a few minutes for Grimsby away at Bolton but this will be my first start in the FA Cup Proper – if I get the chance to.

“I’m looking forward to it and it’s a nice draw for myself. I used to play at Guiseley when I was younger, for their Under-16s, and my family live close by to Nethermoor Park so it will be special to have a few people there watching me play, hopefully we win and I can score a couple of goals.

“I’m not one of those players who want to rest in a cup game, it’s a big game and I want to play in as many rounds as possible this year, it’s up to the gaffer but I certainly don’t want to miss out on Sunday.”

Guiseley are unbeaten in five heading into the cup tie and Jackson is wary of the threat Paul Cox's men pose.

The Reds ace added: “They’ve changed managers a couple of times since I last played against them.

“But it’s always been a tough ground to visit, they’re a good side and they will be up for this massively like any non-league team playing against a Football League team would be.

“They will feel they have something to prove and the public will be looking for an upset, it’s not a game that anybody in our dressing room believes will be easy, but we know if we’re at it then we can go there and progress further in this competition.”

Jackson found the net for the first time in five when rounding off the scoring in the 4-1 League Two win over Barnet having suffered with a niggling injury.

And he hopes that can strike can be the catalyst to hitting top gear once again.

"It was nice to put the injuries officially behind me and get the goal,” he told Stanley's official website.

“I think it was about a month since my last one against Cheltenham and I ended up coming off injured in that game too, it was becoming a little bit frustrating but we have been in good form since I returned in the Coventry match.

“It’s three wins out of four since then, of course it’s always nice to chip in with goals but playing in a winning team is most important, we’re second in the league now and we want to take that momentum into the Guiseley game.”
