ACCRINGTON Stanley boss John Coleman, and forward Shay McCartan, are in the running for the League Two manager, and player, of the month awards.

The Stanley duo are on the four-man shortlists for their respective awards for the month of March after an outstanding run of form.

Stanley picked up 17 points out of a possible 21 last month, remaining unbeaten as they stretched their run without defeat to 12 games.

McCartan has been key to that run, scoring six times last month, and eight times in his last 12 to propel Stanley to within two points of the top half.

Stanley started March with three consecutive wins, and went almost six hours without conceding a goal before the 1-1 draw with Yeovil.

That came after wins over Barnet (1-0), Exeter (0-2) and Leyton Orient (5-0), before finishing off the month with victories over Morecambe (2-1) and Cambridge (2-2) as well as 1-1 draw with Grimsby thanks to a last minute McCartan equaliser.

The 22-year-old, who had to wait until January for his first goal of the season, scored twice in the win at Morecambe, as well as finding the net against Barnet, Exeter, Grimsby and Cambridge.

Coleman faces competition for the manager of the month award from Gary Bowyer (Blackpool), David Artell (Crewe Alex) and Derek Adams (Plymouth).

McCartan is in the running for player of the month alongside Brad Potts (Blackpool), Graham Carey (Plymouth) and Charlie Lee (Stevenage).

The winners of both awards will be named on Friday.
