The fans association reached its £20,000 fundraising target for the #upinlights campaign at the start of last month.

The club has now had the design completed by a local engineer, and are now set to apply for planning permission for the work to go ahead.

Peter Leatham, chairman of the Official Accrington Stanley Supporters Club, is now hoping to get work started in the coming months.

He said: “It all depends on how everything goes with the planning committee but we want to get it going by the end of the season.

“It’s all very positive for the club, there’s a good feel around the place at the moment.”

The free-standing screen will be in the area near the control box between the Whinney Hill away terrace and the away seating.

It will be used to show highlights, interviews, social media posts, and match and team information.
