ACCRINGTON Stanley boss John Coleman has labelled the weekend trip to Leyton Orient as his side’s biggest game of the season so far.

The Reds have won just once in their past 11 League Two games to slip to 20th in the table, just three points above the bottom two and tomorrow’s opponents.

And, having secured a last-gasp point at Yeovil and then reached the third round of the FA Cup with a 3-0 win over Woking in the past two weeks, Coleman is keen to capitalise on those performances and start looking up the table rather than down.

Asked if the visit to the capital was the biggest of the campaign the Reds boss said: “I would say without a doubt.

“We have two teams in very close proximity in the league and a chance to give ourselves a bit of breathing space. It is a massive game.”

Despite their recent struggles Stanley remain just seven points off the play-off places and Coleman wants three points on Saturday to ensure they head into the festive period looking up the table rather than down.

“We are desperate to get on the run at any time of the year but when they come thick and fast things you can climb the table and we have got to try and get higher in the league because it is a worry the position we are in,” he added, “We have got to get ourselves in to a position where we are not looking over our shoulder. If we don’t win Saturday we will be looking over our shoulder.

“We haven’t done well against teams that are below us so let’s hope we buck that trend on Saturday.

“We still have the belief that we can challenge for the play-offs.”

“We have to keep playing football the right way, take our chances when they come and keep clean sheets.”

Stanley’s win at Woking last time out was their first since beating Bradford in the first round of the FA Cup in early November and set up a third round tie at home to Luton.

On the draw Coleman added: “We are pleased to be at home. “It is a good opportunity for both sides and there will be a League Two team in round four.”
