BURNLEY will travel to Sunderland in the third round of the FA Cup after the draw was made on Monday night.

The Clarets reached the fourth round last season after beating Middlesbrough in the last 64 only to go out to Tottenham Hotspur.

And they will hope to at least match that when they visit the Stadium of Light in the new year.

Burnley are without a win at Sunderland since 1979 when the clubs last met in the FA Cup. The Black Cats have won five and drawn two of the seven league matches played since.

Accrington Stanley’s reward for reaching this stage of the competition for the first time in six years is a home tie against fellow League Two side Luton Town.

The Reds lost 1-0 at Kenilworth Road earlier in the season and have not beaten the Hatters in seven meetings since returning to the Football League.

Stanley are in the third round for the first time since the 2009-10 season when they reached the fourth round before losing to then Premier League side Fulham.

The Reds have struggled in League Two in recent weeks and have slipped to 20th in the table but they have already shown their knockout potential in the EFL Cup having knocked out League One side Bradford City, who they also beat in the FA Cup and Premier League neighbours Burnley before losing to a last minute Dimitri Payet goal in the third round at the London Stadium.

Blackburn Rovers will travel to Queens Park Rangers in round three in an all Championship clash.

The sides drew 1-1 at Loftus Road in September when Sam Gallagher was on target.

Rovers reached round five a year ago before suffering a heavy defeat to West Ham United having knocked out Newport County and Oxford United to reach that stage.

Owen Coyle’s side will be hoping to match the run of 2015 when they reached the last eight before going out to Liverpool after a replay. Rovers knocked out Premier League sides Swansea City and Stoke City on the way to the quarter-finals that year.

The ties will take place over the weekend of January 6-9.
