GOAL-GRABBER Josh Windass insists Stanley will bounce back from a disappointing draw on Saturday to grab three points at Hartlepool tonight.

The 22-year-old striker took his tally to 14 for the season with a double against Morecambe that earned the Reds a point.

But with the race for promotion hotting up, he knows they'll have to go one better in the North East.

He said: "It's not a case of whether we will or whether we won't, I think we have to bounce back.

"Bristol Rovers don't seem to slowing up, Oxford United have dropped points at the weekend, so if we go and win on Tuesday then we're in a more solid position than we are now.

"Obviously we can still do it (promotion) and the lads have got belief that we can still do it.

"That's the main thing and we've just got to go to Hartlepool tomorrow night and get three points."

Windass fired John Coleman's team level after they had fallen behind to Shaun Miller’s opener at the Wham Stadium on Saturday.

He then stroked home from the spot, but Stanley conceded again as it finished hours even.

The in-form forward said: "I didn't think I was playing that well until I scored, but obviously after that I picked up my performance.

"The lads were a bit under the weather after the game because, no disrespect, we should be beating teams like Morecambe at this stage of the season.

"They're at the bottom for a reason and obviously we're at the top for a reason, and we should be beating teams that low in the league.

"The gaffer did say to us that once we get in the top three, he doesn't think we'll come out. Hopefully we can get back in there and win a few games."

Windass's end of season move north of the border has seen him take some flak this year, but he's determined to finish his Stanley career on a high.

He added: "To think people thought I wasn't (focused on Accrington) in the first place is annoying because I'm a professional at the end of the day and I'm here - I'm not at the other club.

"All I can do is play the best for myself. I want to do well for Accrington because that means I do well. It's a no brainer really.

"It would be good for every player's CV because you don't get chances to be promoted every year. This is one I definitely one I want to do."
