SEAN McConville has called on Accrington Stanley to show why they are 36 points better off than Dagenham & Redbridge this season by taking a three crucial points at Victoria Road tomorrow.

Stanley finished a run of three successive home games against promotion rivals with a 1-1 draw against Wycombe on Wednesday night, and the total of four points from those three games was two short of the target of six they had set themselves.

And McConville believes that has made a win over League Two's bottom side, who have only won once on their home turf all season, even more essential.

"We’ve got to go down there and win, they’re bottom of the league for a reason, because they’ve been the worst team in League Two this year, and we’re fifth in the league for a reason, so we have to go there with confidence and show that we’re a much better side than Dagenham," said McConville.

"Firstly compete with them and then our football will tell and we can bring the three points back.

"You look at Dagenham and they’re scrapping for their lives. Their manager will be looking for a reaction to the Oxford defeat, with them being at home the onus will be on them with them needing points to survive."

McConville admitted to being 'disappointed' with the draw against the Chairboys on Wednesday, with Stanley letting a lead slip after Shay McCartan had fired them in front.

And the injuries continued to mount as well with Adam Buxton limping off before half time, just as Matt Crooks had done against Plymouth last Saturday.

Boss John Coleman is awaiting to hear on the full extent of both injuries, although Josh Windass is likely to be available for selection tomorrow for the first time since January 2.

"The injuries are mounting up at the minute, but Josh Windass will be back soon and Josh is a top, top player. He will add a lot to our squad like he had done before he got injured. That will be a big plus," said McConville,

“But on the other hand we’re missing Crooksy, Bucko went off injured on Wednesday, Terry Gornell, our captain and a top striker in this league, he’s been injured for the last four weeks, Dean Winnard, a vastly experienced defender, he’s out, so the injuries have crippled us a bit, but we haven’t used it as an excuse.

“We went to Oxford three or four weeks ago with a squad that was slimmed down with a couple of young lads on the bench and we went there and won 2-1 so I’m sure whatever team goes to Dagenham will be confident of getting the three points."
