ACCRINGTON Stanley will hope the cold snap abates tomorrow to enable them to get their League Two promotion push back on track when they host Hartlepool United.

The Reds saw yet another home clash fall victim to the weather over the weekend when their scheduled match with Portsmouth was called off due to a frozen pitch.

The free weekend means the Reds, who remained in seventh spot in the League Two table, have five games in hand on leaders Plymouth and at least three on all the other five sides ahead of them.

John Coleman's men are in the top seven on goal difference ahead of AFC Wimbledon but just nine points off the top three.

Stanley haven't played a home game since November 14 when they drew 2-2 with Newport County in very wet conditions which Coleman felt should have led to the game being abandoned.

Tomorrow's game with Hartlepool is of the rearranged fixtures with the clash kick-starting a run of 10 games in six weeks for Accrington.

But Reds midfielder Sean McConville believes Stanley can take inspiration from their play-off campaign of 2011 as they face up to a hectic second half of the season.

McConville was part of that side which lost to Stevenage in the semi-finals after a surging second half of the season and believes this team can repeat that achievement.

Speaking to the club's official website the midfielder said: "“In the play-off season we were around 17th come Christmas and I think we had a lot of games left then,” said the winger.

“I remember us playing Saturday-Tuesday and it just snowballed. Going into every game, we had confidence and I feel our away games are like that this season.

“Now we need to do that at home. We are in seventh place with games in hand and we feel the only way is up and we are looking at the automatic promotion spots.”

A new date for the Portsmouth fixture has yet to be announced.
