ACCRINGTON Stanley defender Matty Pearson believes the club’s resilience can help them continue a promotion push this season.

Pearson was on target as the Reds beat Dagenham & Redbridge 3-1 on Saturday to climb back into the League Two play-off places.

Stanley had suffered back-to-back defeats before the victory over the Daggers and Pearson was pleased with the performance.

“We have all rallied together,” Pearson told the club’s official website.

“We had to come together as a squad to put it right. We had two defeats and we did not want a third and we had to break that run and turn it around.

“The win was needed to keep us in the play-offs.

“We have our sights set high and we believe we can challenge at the top so we have got to try and go on another run now.”

But Pearson did admit he was disappointed to concede when Nyron Nosworthy netted a consolation for the Daggers meaning that Stanley have not kept a clean sheet in any of their last six matches.

“I was frustrated we didn’t keep a clean sheet,” Pearson added.

“We haven’t kept a clean sheet for ages and it’s not good enough.”
