MAX Hazeldine is one of a number of Accrington Stanley youngsters who could be heading out on loan in the next few weeks.

The Football League’s emergency loan window is now open, but rather than looking to bring people in, Stanley boss John Coleman is keen to get some fringe members of his squad some first team football.

Hazeldine, 18, is one of those - but Coleman admits he has been impressed with the young forward’s performances in training.

“We’ve got more in good form than we can fit into the 18, that’s the way it is,” said the Reds chief.

“We’ll look at that over the coming weeks and if some players have to go and get some games they will do that, but we’ve got a good squad who are all capable of playing a part.

“There’ll be one or two in the next couple of weeks who will go out. You can’t put a price on the experience of first team football, especially for the younger players.

“But they’ve got to use it as a way to force their way into our squad and starting 11.

“Just look at Max (Hazeldine), he’s been absolutely breathtaking in the last week in training and he’s pushing for a start, but he might benefit from playing a lot of games in a short space of time - then when he comes back he might be bypassing the bench and going straight into the starting 11.”

Coleman will be without on-loan defender Joe Wright for tomorrow’s trip to Bristol Rovers after the youngster aggravated an injury while away with Wales Under-21s.

“Joe took a bad bang on his knee so it looks as if he is going to be out for a couple of weeks,” he said.

“I think Joe had been carrying a knock anyway. Players can get injured in training, so I have no problem with that.”

Shay McCartan was also away on international duty, featuring twice for Northern Ireland Under-21s, and Coleman believes he will benefit from those games.

“It will help him a lot,” he said. “He needs to play games, he will be short of match fitness. He’s a good player, there’s no question of that. “Unfortunately, because of the wrist injury, he has missed out with us, but there will be opportunities for him.

“He gives us something different, he’s very dynamic in the final third and that’s something we could do with a bit more of.”
