ACCRINGTON Stanley manager John Coleman is looking to add at least one more player to his squad before the new season - the Reds’ 10th back in the Football League - kicks off on Saturday.

Stanley still have non-league winger Jason St Juste, former Doncaster right back Liam Wakefield and former Wigan trainee Jack Phillips training with them in the run-up to the 2015/16 campaign.

It is likely Coleman will offer at least one of that trio a permanent deal as he finalises his squad for Saturday’s opener at home to Luton.

“There may be one or two more to come in and maybe a couple to go out on loan,” he said.

“We’ll only take the ones that we think will enhance the squad.”

Coleman had the bulk of his squad in place for the start of pre-season training at the end of June, and he feels that will work to their advantage, even though it means strength in depth has left him with selection headaches.

“I’ve been pleased with the way pre-season’s gone. The lads have worked really hard and we’ve got what we wanted as regards to fitness and getting the lads to gel together and get an understanding of each other,” he said.

“I haven’t done the last two pre-seasons - I worked through one and I was out of work for the other one.

“It’s been refreshing to get back into that, and we’ve got lads who are keen to work hard.

“Having the majority of the squad together from June 26 has helped immensely. Hopefully we can take that into the season.”
