NEW Accrington Stanley striker Adam Morgan insists he will not let the club down having been handed a one-year contract at the Store First Stadium.

The 21-year-old is the third summer signing made by Reds boss John Coleman and the former Liverpool man, who made three appearances in the Europa League in 2012, is determined to grasp his chance.

Highly-rated as a youngster, Morgan’s career has stalled somewhat following spells with Rotherham, Yeovil and Scottish side St Johnstone.

But the frontman is ready to show Stanley supporters the form which earned him three substitute appearances for Liverpool in Europe under Brendan Rodgers.

“The manager’s given me this opportunity and the chance to play football and that’s all I’ve ever needed,” Morgan said.

“I just want to show people what I can do and this club has given me the chance. I don’t want to let myself or the club down.

“I’m a goalscorer and I need to be on the pitch as much as possible.

“I feel like I will score goals if I get time on the pitch so I want to play as many games in a row as possible, get in my stride and all I need is one goal to get going.”

Morgan was released by Yeovil earlier this summer and Reds boss Coleman moved quickly to tie up a deal for the forward.

“It is a great chance for both of us,” said Coleman.

“We haven’t got that many forwards and it’s a chance for Adam to resurrect his career.

“He has a great pedigree, he is highly thought of at Liverpool and he will be as frustrated as anyone that it hasn’t got going for him.

“This is an opportunity for both of us and hopefully Adam will grab it with both hands.”

Morgan made his debut for Liverpool as a late sub in the 1-0 Europa League win over Hearts in August 2012 before he started the return leg alongside Luis Suarez.

He made his second start for the Reds in a 1-0 defeat to Anzhi, again in the Europa League, before joining Rotherham on loan.

He then moved to Yeovil, initially on loan, and had a temporary spell with St Johnstone.

Morgan scored once in six appearances for the Glovers last season.
