JOHN Coleman insists he will not be held to ransom by players he offers new deals to, and wants an answer by the end of this week.

And he has set a swift deadline for a response so that he can get to work on building a squad for the 2015/16 campaign as quickly as possible.

“It won’t be a case of sitting down and waiting for answers off people,” said the Reds boss.

“When I was a player if someone offered me something I either fancied it or I didn’t.

“I didn’t need a week or two weeks to think about it; possibly a day. You go to bed thinking about it, if you woke up the next day and if you’re unsure then it’s probably not for you.

“It certainly won’t get left until next week.

“People will have their chance. The ones who have been offered something, they will only have until the end of the week and then we will move on.”

Coleman said being able to move swiftly in the transfer market was one reason for not allowing anyone to stall on a contract decision.

“I’ve already approached a couple of clubs about players for next season,” he said.

“I’ve got to get on with the building process.

“I will go away on holiday, but my phone won’t be off.”
