ACCRINGTON Stanley boss John Coleman will dip back into the transfer market when the loan window opens next week, despite bringing in three new players on transfer deadline day.

Coleman added goalkeeper Scott Davies, striker Terry Gornell and winger Gerardo Bruna to his squad on Monday night with the latter two set to go straight into the starting XI for tomorrow’s League Two trip to Plymouth Argyle.

But Stanley, who have conceded 11 goals in their last four games - all of which have ended in defeat - failed to strengthen in defence and saw commanding centre back Tom Aldred join Blackpool for an undisclosed fee.

And Coleman, who admitted he missed out on a defensive target on deadline day, is keen to put that right when the Football League loan window opens on Tuesday.

He said: “I still think we need to bring a centre half in to give us enough cover between now and end of the season.

“I think we have got enough cover everywhere else. We have lost a centre half (Tom Aldred) and we haven’t replaced him.

“I don’t normally do any business on deadline day but it was needs must. The one I did miss out on was a centre half so it wasn’t all plain sailing.

“I wouldn’t rule out going into the market again once the loan window re-opens.

“We had areas that we needed to improve on.

“We’ve got plenty of forward looking players but no real target man so that (Terry Gornell signing) will hopefully solve that problem.”

Coleman also revealed that a couple of Stanley players may be exiting the Store First Stadium with Conference North leaders Barrow reportedly close to bringing Marcus Carver back to Holker Street.

Carver, who started for Stanley in their dreadful 5-1 defeat against Northampton last time out, enjoyed a month on loan with Barrow in 2013.

Stanley, and Coleman in particular, are desperate to right the wrongs of the defeat to the Cobblers and the Reds chief believes the three new faces have gone some way to raising morale at the Store First Stadium.

He added: “I think the players are looking for you to do something so you have to give them a spark and one of the easiest ways to do that in the changing room is to bring in new blood.

“I think we have got enough cover everywhere else.

“We have lost a centre half (Aldred) and we haven’t replaced him.”

Stanley are currently in 16th place, five points clear of the relegation zone.
