ACCRINGTON Stanley boss James Beattie says the planning for next season has already begun after the Reds ended their League Two season with a 3-2 home win over AFC Wimbledon.

Beattie was pleased with the finish to the campaign and hailed the impact of striker Kayode Odejayi.

And the Reds boss said was already looking at a number of targets ahead of next season.

“I think we have have been professional,” said Beattie.

“We started planning for next season six weeks ago, earmarking players, deciding which players we wanted to keep, which players we wanted to extend and which players we were going to let go and that’s football.”

Odejayi is on loan with the Reds from Rotherham but is out of contract with the League One side and Beattie was pleased with his efforts in the weekend win.

The Reds chief added: “Kayode has capitalised on a mistake at the back for them and finished his goal off tremendously well and that is what we have been trying to get him to do for a number of weeks because he has got that in his locker.

“Kayode is unbelievably fast and no one is going to catch up and he finished his goal off well and that gave us a great start.

“I thought we could have been three or four up at half time.

“They managed to get back into the game but we held on for a result.”
