Danny Webber: Relief all round at the Reds

ACCRINGTON Stanley live to fight another day in the Football League, and I suppose you could say there is relief all round at that.

It was a mindset that James Beattie wanted to change when he became manager – to make the club more ambitious, for it to be about more than just survival and change the expectation.

But when you live and breathe it and work in that environment you understand and appreciate just how big an achievement that actually is for a club like Accrington, where resources are limited.

It’s been my first experience of League Two – an eye-opening season for me, professionally and personally.

The year I had out before coming here has done me good and made me realise I didn’t have anything to worry about in the first place.

My body’s benefited, my legs feel fresh, I’m enjoying kicking a ball again and I’m looking forward to every challenge in front of me.

Finally, congratulations to our neighbours Burnley, and my old Watford team-mate Sean Dyche, on promotion to the Premier League.

His way of working was always efficient and very productive and I think if people buy into that again in the top flight as well he will be very successful and go far.
