  • "A little harsh on the players - I was at the game too & agree it was pretty dire but I don't agree that our players are not up to the job in hand - we know they are quite capable of going to York on Saturday & putting in a completely different performance, they had had two long away trips in the space of a week, looked tired & let themselves be drawn into a game of hoofball if they had been able to get the ball on the deck & play our passing football Saturday would have been a totally different story - personally I blame the Norwegian contingent - they've never brought us much luck :)"

FULL TIME: Accrington Stanley 0 Northampton Town 1

ACCRINGTON Stanley were beaten by relegation-threatened Northampton Town in a League Two clash at the Store First Stadium.

Chris Hackett put the visitors in front when he raced on to a long ball and knocked it past goalkeeper Marcus Bettinelli before finding the net from a tight angle.

Stanley pushed for an equaliser in the closing stages but could not find the goal they needed.

The Reds sit 16th in the League Two table, although second bottom Northampton did move to within six points of James Beattie's side with five games left to play.
