Rochdale scored the luckiest goal ever to equalise on Saturday.

Stanley’s headed clearance ricochet off a Rochdale player into the Stanley net.

That was followed up by a late winner for Dale who at the moment site in an automatic promotion place.

It was a harsh result given Piero Mingoia’s wonder goal and Stanley’s attacking play.

For the neutral it would have been hard to decipher which team was the one chasing promotion.

Once again I cannot help but think about the promise our current squad holds.

But firstly we must stay in the league and tonight’s match at home to Morecambe is massive.

If we are to climb away from the drop zone we must get back to winning ways.

The original fixture was dubiously called off because of an area of mud the size of a snooker table on one of the Stanley wings.

It had nothing to do with Morecambe being down to 10 men, under considerable Stanley pressure and constantly in the ref’s ear about the rain.

I have many friends at Morecambe and it was hard to hear of their £794,000 financial loss last season.

The football league needs teams like Accrington and Morecambe but it would appear our towns do not need us.
