ACCRINGTON Stanley have confirmed that they have brought Lee Molyneux back to the club on an initial month’s loan from Crewe Alexandra.

Molyneux was Stanley’s player of the year last season after playing a key part in the Reds’ battle against relegation.

He opted to join League One Crewe when his contract expired in the summer, but struggled for regular match action at Gresty Road.

“It feels like coming home,” said the 24-year-old.

“I had a great time here last year and it was a hard decision to leave, but the opportunity to go up a level was the deciding factor otherwise I would have stayed.

“They were special times for me last year. I hope that we can recreate them this season.

“I’ve trained this morning with the lads and I believe there’s more quality in the squad now as a whole than last season.”

“We’re delighted to have Lee back,” said Stanley manager James Beattie.

“He was a massive part in the success we had in staying up last year and had a huge influence on the end of the season.

“For one reason or another it’s not quite clicked at Crewe for him so he’s been invited back here and hopefully he can get some minutes on the pitch and influence our end to the season like he did last time.

“He looks in great shape and has looked sharp in training, he’s delighted to be back and him being here has given the lads a huge lift.”
