ACCRINGTON Stanley supporters have been expressing their surprise at manager Paul Cook’s imminent departure to Chesterfield.
Cook is set to be appointed as the Spireites’ new boss today – just eight months after taking charge of Stanley. His exit has brought sadness to many supporters, including Lancashire Telegraph columnist Stephen Lowe.
“I think a lot of people will be surprised,” Lowe said.
“I think he will look back in years to come and wish he had finished the job he started here. It’s a job half done and that’s sad.
“He had us playing some great football, I know the results haven’t gone our way in the last few matches but I will be sad to see him go.
“I don’t think Chesterfield are a much bigger club than us, they’re not a massive club, although I know he will have more money to spend.
“I wish him well. I won’t bear him any ill will, he’s a nice bloke.”
