I’ll hit ground running at Burnley, vows Richards

DANE Richards has insisted he will be ready to hit the ground running when he joins Burnley in January.
The 28-year-old winger has signed a pre-contract agreement to join the Clarets at the turn of the year, when his contract expires with Vancouver Whitecaps.
“Once I set my mind on something I know I will be ready and I definitely think I will be able to adapt straight away,” said the Jamaican international.
“When I was growing up I always wanted to go to the highest level I could and play in England. I am very excited about coming over. I am determined to make it at Burnley.”
Clarets boss Eddie Howe last night remained the bookmakers’ favourite to become the new manager of Bournemouth, despite Burnley’s ‘hands off’ warning last week. Reports on the south coast have continued to suggest that Bournemouth may make an official approach.
But Cherries chairman Eddie Mitchell yesterday said that a move for a manager currently out of work was more likely, with Steve Cotterill said to be an option.

I am sick of inane comments about their status predominating over the love of our game in this country.
Please go back to your own LETelegraph stories and talk amongst yourselves.
BFC is a family club in a town with a tiny population compared to Blackburn, which has a football club sponsored by an Indian business family - get used to it. There can be no comparison!

You also draw on support from Rossendale and a good portion of West Yorkshire. All in all, a catchment area of over 200,000. Blackburn in comparison has a population of 105,000, BwD has 141,000. You can add in some from Ribble Valley and Chorley. So in reality Burnley probably has a bigger catchment area than Blackburn, yet BRFC has always and always will put Burnley FC to shame when it comes to numbers on the terraces. Bigger club, better history and more class.
I would really like BRFC to return to the Premier League now!

MerlinTheVoiceofReasYou forgot to mention one thing, television. Rovers have been in the premier league for a long time with games being shown on tv all over the world therefore the catchment area is slightly bigger than what you are suggesting. So compare apples with apples and do the sums

MerlinTheVoiceofReasDon't talk like a sap!! The best comparison would be when both Burnley and blackburn were in div 2 in 82-83, before you we're all bribed to go and watch blackburn by walker, Burnley near the bottom and going down, averaging crowds of 8000, blackburn in 7th or 8th position, averaging 4000-5800 crowds, poor club, poor fans, laughing stock of English football,

.
The pop of Burnley is less than 87,000. What do Pendle have to do with it? Blackburn have the Ribble Valley, Chorley, Leyland, Darwen, South Ribble etc, you even advertise in Preston and Lancaster for your support!!
.
Just wait till next season and you have to start charging Championship prices - Kean sacked thousands back - don't make me laugh!
