Former Burnley boss Coyle leaves Bolton
10:39am Tuesday 9th October 2012 in Sport
Owen Coyle
FORMER Burnley boss Owen Coyle has been relieved of his duties as manager of Bolton Wanderers.
Coyle left Turf Moor for Bolton in January 2010 but the Trotters were relegated from the Premier League last season and currently sit 18th in the Championship.
Bolton chairman Phil Gartside said: “Owen poured his heart and soul into the job, both on and off the pitch, and he led our club with great dignity during some very challenging times.
“It is the right time for a change. We set a target at the beginning of the season and want to get back on track.
“I would like to place on record our sincere thanks to Owen, Sandy Stewart and Steve Davis for all their hard work during their time at Bolton Wanderers.”
Coyle said: “I have always been driven to act in the best interests of the club and care passionately about it.
“I had fantastic times here as a player and it has been a privilege to have held the post of manager.
“I want to thank the fans for their backing since I returned, the chairman Phil Gartside and the owner Eddie Davies for their support and friendship and the club’s staff and players for all their effort and commitment.
“I wish everyone connected with Bolton Wanderers all the very best.”

One thing coyle always did was blame the officials for every loss, maybe he'll blame this board also for it not working out. Still waiting to hear what he has to say about Burnley.
Do we feel vindicated today? We would if we were doing any better than bolton at the moment, but sadly we're not.

If so, expect to see Bolton in a local Sunday League fixture within a few years.
Could be worse, Owen...you could have stayed at Bunleh.

The media have been constantly telling us what a great bloke he is and now the paragon of dignity and professionalism is available immediately it seems strange that all his friends at Sky and Talksport haven't 'lumped on'.
Or maybe they know he's already got a job lined up with the people who love him the most, when Howe skips off to Bournemouth. :-)

I for one have never borne ill-will towards him and in all truth if anyone be they a football manager, street cleaner or waitress had the opportunity to move to what is hoped will be better they would take it.
The biggest problem with some fans is they think they own, (but do not) the club they "support" and seem to forget the people who actually partake in it are professionals and at modrn day club level whatever the league, it is a business whether you like it or not.
Coyle is like anyone else, when he is pricked he bleeds, when he is out of a job he and his family will be concerned until he gets another.

If I was a Dingle I would be more concerned about hanging onto your current manager rather than worrying aout a past one.
It would be very embarassing for BFC if he left to join a club in a lower division - It must have happened at some time in the past but off the top of my head I can't think of any instances where a manager has volantary gone down a division - surely if it happened it would be a huge pointer to what he thought about Burnley's board ambition - or lack of it !!

Vintage, are you for real or are you on drugs?
" --when he, (Coyle) is out of a job, he and his family will be concerned until he gets another" WHY? I've never seen so much twaddle written by a normally rational man.
As a mediocrity in management terms, he'll have been earning more in a week than average YEARLY earnings. Even Kean was on £22,500 per week. You must live in a parallel Universe, because your values are clearly out of kilter with the one I inhabit if you think Coyle will be out with the begging bowl. When was the last time you met a £1,000,000-plus per annum also-ran?
From afar, I see it this way:
1. Coyle was doing well at Burnley and for whatever reason, jumped ship. Lack of ambition on behalf of the club, or more money elsewhere? It could have been 100 other reasons of course.
2. Laws' appointment was a car crash waiting to happen. My comments at the time joined a small choir singing of the misguidedness and bllnikered, parsimonious thinking of the board.
3, EH's appointment looked good until the Board robbed him of his best players and refused to support him even modestly in the loan market.
4, If EH has ambition and skill, he'll be out of Burnley within 12 months.
I may be wrong, but so far, everything's unfolded exactly as I've foretold. Burnley won't be in the Championship in 2 years. Look at the facts!
ps. No point (mis) quoting Shylock-- Merchant of Venice either in defence of Coyle.
Better a little more prosaic (and modern). Liberace: "laughing all the way to the bamk."

I think the best man for the job right now is Eric Black. His enterprising brand of football may not have reaped immediate dividends but in time it will. Surely.
Of course, Black was Kean's understudy and he is no Steve Kean, as the lack of goals demonstrate. But he is very good at standing around with Colin Hendry - a.k.a "THE ORC" who sulkily chews on his gum offering nothing except aggression towards elderly neighbours when they ask for a portion of their life savings back.
However, two hard drinking Scottish deadbeats are more than adequate for a club of your stature. You used to manage with just one! While Kean left you and is soon to sue for constructive dismissal (a case he will most certainly win just as soon as the judge sees Shebby's comical peformance at the fans' meeting), you will just have to make do with his self appointed replacement - Mr Black.
I'd like to see a bit more of Shebby around the dug out. Him and Hendry could have fruitful discussions about the midfield tactics, and these could be passed on to Black, who would benefit greatly from Shebby and Colin's experience. Perhaps he could instruct Jordan Rhodes to go and steal his next door neighbour's life savings on a rare forward raid?
I trust you find this advice to be of use.
Or you could just appoint Alan Shearer. And then I will laugh my f*ucking head off.
Go ahead....make my day””
