HALF TIME: Burnley 2 Millwall 1
3:49pm Saturday 29th September 2012 in Sport
BURNLEY have come from behind to lead at the interval after an action-packed first half against Millwall.
The Clarets dominated from the first whistle but despite that Millwall took the lead in the third minute as midfielder Liam Trotter exchanged passes with Andy Keogh before firing past Lee Grant from the edge of the box.
Burnley then had penalty appeals turned down by referee Craig Pawson, while Junior Stanislas turned Martin Paterson’s cross against the woodwork.
But the equaliser came in the 19th minute as Stanislas swung in a corner from the left and Ben Mee arrived unmarked to head home from only five yards.
Millwall wide man Scott Malone came close to making it 2-1, only to see Grant do just enough to turn his volley on to the bar, but Burnley continued to create chances and Stanislas’ free kick was smartly tipped over by David Forde.
Grant then had to keep out James Henry’s shot five minutes before half time.
But Charlie Austin put Burnley ahead in the 43rd minute with a superb header from fully 18 yards.
Kieran Trippier played in a deep ball from the right and Austin looped a header over Forde and into the top corner.
