Burnley to assess international duo

BURNLEY manager Eddie Howe will assess David Edgar and Sam Vokes following their return from international duty before naming his squad to face Peterborough United on Saturday.
Defender Edgar has travelled halfway around the world for Canada’s World Cup qualifying double header with Panama, while Vokes was involved with Wales.
The striker came off the bench in the second half of their 2-0 home defeat to Belgium last Friday before travelling to Serbia, but played no part in their 6-1 thrashing.
“David Edgar and Sam Vokes are back in today (Thursday) so we'll see how David is after another long flight, and Sam as well had a big journey, so we'll see how they are,” said Howe.
“Sometimes you can get a good gauge of how someone's reacted to the travelling just by looking at them.”
The Clarets have options if Howe does look to rest Edgar, with Michael Duff and Ben Mee both knocking on the door.
Martin Paterson is also pushing for a return to the starting line-up after recovering from a hamstring injury.
The striker withdrew from the Northern Ireland squad to work on his fitness at Gawthorpe.
