Burnley striker Paterson suffers hamstring tear
6:22pm Saturday 25th August 2012 in Sport
BURNLEY striker Martin Paterson has been ruled out for at least another week after scans revealed he suffered a 'grade one' hamstring tear against Bolton last weekend.
Paterson was absent from the midweek defeat at Middlesbrough and this afternoon's 2-0 loss at Huddersfield Town, where manager Eddie Howe confirmed the extent of the damage.
“It's a really tiny tear so we expect Martin back very soon. Whether he makes the Brighton game or not we'll have to wait and see,” said the Burnley boss, who was frustrated by his side's inability to defend or benefit from set plays at The John Smith's Stadium.
“We were disappointing today in both boxes. Their biggest threat was from set plays and we couldn't deal with them, and then at the other end we had a number of set plays ourselves and we didn't cause too much threat.
“I think the lack of creativity and lack of spark in that final third was always missing from an attacking perspective, and defensively we didn't stick our heads on the block and clear enough balls with our heads.”

Grant should never be letting 3 long range shots in in one game. I fear that Pato, much as I think he's a game-changing player is not coing to recover his consistency that made the difference in the promotion year. I like the lad and feel truly sorry for him, but his body really has not been able to show able to withstand the rigours of his style of play. There is time to fix this yet and the management team now need to dig deep to get smarter when Plan A isn't working as has been the case in th last two games.
not good enough eddie, lets get real no more excuses about being out muscled etc. put some spark into squad or field players that show passion and who want to win and for gods sake get a decent keeper, the number of clean sheets grant has kept is just not enough

Limited games in the 09/10 season
Limited games in the 10/11 season
Limited games in the 11/12 season
Now were in the 12/13 season and hear we go again.
He is a great lad and been so unlucky with injuries but how long can this go on?
Wrap him in cotton wool but you shouldn't have to do that .
Stop start stop start , a fuly fit Patto is great but in and out the side how will he ever be fully fit?
I hope this is not a big set back for him or the club he deserves better.

As for Patto, mostly great when he plays, we just don't see enough of him.
