FULL TIME: Huddersfield Town 2 Burnley 0
4:56pm Saturday 25th August 2012 in Sport
GOALS from Joel Lynch and Jordan Rhodes consigned Burnley to defeat at Huddersfield Town this afternoon.
Lynch put the hosts ahead after only seven minutes with a header from Oliver Norwood’s corner.
Joseph Mills appeared to have prevented the header from going on with a goal-line clearance but it was adjudged to have crossed the line.
David Edgar thought he had equalised but the flag was raised for offside against Charlie Austin.
The Clarets were second best though and Rhodes hit the crossbar before seeing another effort saved by Lee Grant.
Rhodes did find the net in the 58th minute, though, firing past Grant into the top corner.
Burnley: Lee Grant, Kieran Trippier, David Edgar, Jason Shackell, Joseph Mills (Keith Treacy 73), Ross Wallace, Dean Marney, Chris McCann, Junior Stanislas (Alex MacDonald 90), Sam Vokes (Michael Duff 64), Charlie Austin. Subs not used: Brian Jensen, Ben Mee, Marvin Bartley, Brian Stock.

DELUSIONAL sums them up in one word.
Going back to Tuesdays game 2nd half showing was poor.
Todays game well how would you describe it those of you who managed to get there?
Listening to It we don't seem to have learnt anything or moved on from last season.
Yes we had alot of away wins last term and poor home form but not being disrespectful to Huddersfield Town we shouldn't have been out thought and out played by them.
Everyone know's that you have to be consistent in this league , you also have to turn over teams like Huddersfield Town if your going to be serious challengers for the playoff spots or promotion.
Why have Blackpool been so consistent since they come down ? What have the done different to Burney?
Why have our foes from down the road made avery good start ? When you take into account the number of players they lost and what they managed to pull in. Add that to a manager the fans don't want and the turmoil behind the scenes.
I'd rather have the start they have had than just one good performance against Bolton.
I know It's only 3 games into the season but on this evidence it will still be 34 years and counting against those down the road and a long season spent trying to stay up.
I know I maybe mr grumpy, had some long night shifts but can I have some constructive replies please.
I'll be fine after a good nights sleep ;0).

Oh dear. Played 3 - Lost 2. Where´s that runty crock Patterson now, bigging up Eddie Howe as a "top, young manager?" Aside from Peterborough, Burnley are the smallest club in the Championship. This year´s Doncaster - and you´re heading one way........DOWN!
Being a football fan I'd rather have had the start like Blackpool and yourselves but if I'm being honest we are where we are at this present time because we deserve to be on the performance of the last two games.

I know away games will be tuff to pick up points especially after last seasons results on are travels.
Home form will be very important this season but so is picking up points on our travels to teams like Huddersfield , once again no disrespect to them, If the team is to make a serious challenge.
Haven't noticed your home attendance figures but like you say there are reasons for that.
Every team at some stage will lose, a few teams will have a bad run.
I don't like losing who does but It's the manor in which you lose that make things worse. Give as good as you get but end up a loser then fine but to lose by putting in a poor performance his hurtful. I know a team can have an off day but we seem to have so many.
Your team may have been poor as you say in the 3 games you have played but you have 7 points from 9 .
That shows that when you do have an off day you manage to take a point at least and a bonus a cheeky win.

Youve had two away games, weve had two home. I personally thought Bolton were awfully poor in that first game. I think weve been poor in all three of our games. We have a good squad by championship standards and with a decent manager would stand a good chance of promotion but with Kean??? As for the attendance at Ewood, as somebody has said, there are too many there. Non attendance is a strategy and not a disinterest. There is a clear difference

Are the owners and board members too scared to take action?
It's not good all round financially not getting the fans through the turnstiles, high wages and you can't use the parachute payment to compensate such a big loss .
Lets hope both our clubs have a good season and I for one will love the up and coming derby games I just wish they would come around more often and maybe continue one day back in the Premiership , be lucky chap.
