Coyle remains ‘comfortable’ with Clarets exit

OWEN Coyle is braced for a fiery reception at Turf Moor tomorrow, but insists his conscience remains clear about his departure.

Tomorrow’s Championship opener at Turf Moor will be the second time the Scot has returned to the club he managed for just over two years.

The Carling Cup brought his current and former club together the season after his controversial exit.

He felt the full force of the fans’ anger that night, and had his misery compounded when Wade Elliott – the player who had fired him into the Premier League with the Clarets – dumped him out of the competition.

He hopes former Burnley players Chris Eagles and Tyrone Mears, who were reunited with him at the Reebok last year, are in for a warmer welcome back.

Of the reception he expects to receive, Coyle said: “Whatever Saturday brings, it brings. It’s coming up for nearly three years now but whether water has passed under the bridge will probably be up to the individual. All I will ever have is good feeling for Burnley Football Club.

“Yes, there was a furore when I left but people close to me know there was loads of stuff I could have said but I didn’t. I know what happened word for word and minute by minute, and I’m comfortable, so that says a lot.”

Only because he as no conscience. Bolton were 10 years in front of Burnley, (Coyles words)its only taken him 2 years to bring them back.

Bolton will always be in front of Burnley - and one season in the Championship - like Newcastle and West Ham have had - doesn´t change that. It´s 30 years since Burnley finished above Bolton in a league table - and I don´t see that changing any time soon - do you???

No matter how anybody feels it must be admitted we had some euphoric times during his tenure as manager.

Time has passed and time to move on. We should view this game for what it is, a true Derby clash where we need to get one over near neighbours and ready for the next big derby

He left for what he thought was a better opportunity with a club he played for - at the time it was something that we could have done without and if it would have made any difference to the outcome of that season no one can say for sure (although the Boards subsequent appointment left a lot to be desired). But at the ne dof the day you can't really blame a guy for wanting to ply his trade in the Premier League. Loyalty in football is something of a rare commodity nowadays and we can't really't expect it from players or managers because unfortunately money talks - we should look at it as a bonus IF we are lucky enough to experience it.
It will add spice to the match tomorrow for sure but I think its time to put the hostility to Coyle behind us and actually get behind the team this season.....getting behind the team rather than directing abuse towards oposing managers / players would be infinitely more beneficial!!

Plus, I just have to say - and I exclude certain Claret fans from this - as I know you´ve got your decent fans - but all this Coyle crap is an absolute disgrace. The rubbish I´ve read about ´ripping souls out´ - and ´an old enemy´ is frankly a joke! In a world full of murderers, rapists, child abusers, groomers, etc - you treat a man like this over a footballing decision - you´re no better than animals. Honestly, you should be ashamed of yourselves. I can only presume you live very lonely, and hate-filled lives. I feel sorry for you.

Time has not passed and it has not moved on. Judas and his chairman Gartside are not welcome at Turf Moor and tomorrow they will feel the full brunt of what us Claret fans still think of them. Also ("We want to play in the Premiership.") Eagles and Mears are in for a rough ride also. BRING IT ON. Replying to Keyser-Judas- Sose may I remind him and his so called relegated Premiership team that what Judas did to us HE WILL DO TO YOU ALSO given the chance.

Wow, you seem to spend a lot of time on the forum of others, I wouldn't waste my time anywhere near yours, so perhaps it just goes to show where the real passion in football is!

As for moving on from Coyle, well, of course we have done and will. Yet this does not ignore the fact that he left us without completing what he said he would for the hope of a longer tenure with some buddies who describe his 70-odd games as 'legendary'! He brought his one-dimensional tactics your way and, well, as you were to,d at the time, brought you to your knees (and the Championship.

You will not return soon and you will rid yourself of him before the season is out, possibly even asking Megson back!

You are on the down my friend and will continue to do so, we, are forward looking, developmental and on the up.

Get your dictionary out and look up irony, because, amusingly, that's what this all is!

Haha, you don´t need to spend any time on BWFC forums, the LT is obsessed with us. I come on here these days for the latest on Coyle, Eagles, Gartside, etc. It´s just easier. Surely you can´t complain if a Bolton fan offers a contrasting view? Or can you only cope with one-sided arguments? As for Coyle being a "legend" - all I know is he always gave 110% in a white shirt - and fans appreciate that. He also showed restrain and dignity, by waiting patiently from the subs bench - never slating anyone or throwing his toys out of the pram (traits that continue serve him well today, as we´ll see later when some uneducated, toothless redneck, zombies swear at him - in full view of women and children. Hmmmm, role models?) Talking of "legends" - how´s your own one doing - Andy Payton. Does he still shoplift, grow cannabis farms and batter women? Crazy world. Still, maybe Burnley´s definition of a "legend" is different to Bolton´s. Anyway, you have a good day too Mike, I hope 17,000 people abusing a single bloke - makes you all feel like big men. No Thank YOU, for giving your valuable insight into my hometown. I've been to Blackburn (&Bolton) many times though and I don't remember either of them being the cosmopolitan utopia you're implying. As far as pundits/bookmakers go, are these the same ones who said "you'll never win anything with kids" and put celtic 3-1 on to win at Ross county today? Yet the lowly clarets swept Judas aside comfortably and agent Kean scraped a draw against those giants of European football that are Ipswich Town. Good Times! Welcome to the championship. UTC!
