Clarets defender Lafferty earns first Northern Ireland call-up

BURNLEY defender Daniel Lafferty has received his first senior Northern Ireland call-up.
The left back will join Clarets team-mate Michael Duff for next month’s international friendly with the Netherlands, after a good season with Derry City and an eye-catching start to his Turf Moor career, despite a niggling injury.
Lafferty is among a number of uncapped players to be selected in Michael O’Neill’s 24-man squad, including Swansea’s Rory Donnelly, Scotland-born Coventry defender James McPake and Walsall’s Will Grigg.
As well as Duff, who earned a recall after four years for their friendly against Norway in February, former Burnley loanee Josh McQuoid will be another familiar face.
The game, which forms part of the Netherlands’ preparations for their Euro 2012 campaign, takes place at the Amsterdam Arena on June 2.
