TWO first half goals condemned Burnley to their first defeat away to Southampton in 35 years.
The Clarets came into the game in confident mood thanks to an excellent away record.
But they came unstuck at St Mary's, as second-placed Saints ended a run of five games without a win.
Adam Lallana headed the home side in front in the eighth minute after climbing to reach Frazer Richardson's right wing cross.
Burnley came under pressure in a nervous start for the defence. But just as they looked to be settling into the game they conceded a second.
The Clarets looked to have dealt with Billy Sharp's threat as Lallana picked out Southampton's new striker in the box.
But Ben Mee mis-controlled the ball, wrong-footing Lee Grant who couldn't get back quickly enough to stop the ball from crossing the line.
Burnley had a better tempo at the start of the second half, after bringing on Josh McQuoid and Marvin Bartley for Keith Treacy and Dean Marney at the break.
But they faded fast and Southampton maintained their grip to win the game comfortably.

Oh no! We lost and Blackburn won. Victory for the value takers. It's bad news for society as a whole. Roll on next weekend when all returns to normal.

Funny after looking at the relative sides today you must only be summising that the transfer fees for cetain players in the Q.R.R starting line up was as printed in the media, think you will actually find that the majority of those fees were undisclosed as are a nimber for that of the Rovers side. But there again if you take the relative match day palyers in to account i think you find Rovers team (inc subs) actually cost more than Q.P.R's. So before you make sweeping claims get your facts straight you BINT!! Rovers cost 19.5 mill compared to Q.P.R at 11.95 mill sorry to Pee on your chips. NOT!!!!! UTC!!!

However, considering only about 10,000 can be bothered to turn up at Turf Moor for a supposed 'promotion push' I doubt many could bring themselves to travel down to Southampton.

Better off saving up for a couple of years then have a day out at Old Trafford. Then you'd be a 'real' United supporter and you'd get to watch the top flight football that has eluded an entire generation in Burnley. I know you're one of those that was stood in the pub at dinner time cheering on United.

Another truth is that some Burnley fans post more comments under the Blackburn Rovers news articles than they do under their own club's news. Obviously the former is interesting and relevant and the latter is just plain boring.

That's why rather than fighting the Venkys fight themselves, they keep asking the LET to do it for them. And then, baffled, they wonder why ex players like Shearer have no attachment or loyalty to them. Although they indignantly claim they should.
