Jersey is Jensen's to lose, says Burnley boss

BURNLEY manager Brian Laws has told long-serving Brian Jensen the goalkeeping shirt is ‘his to lose’.

The Clarets boss ramped up the competition for the gloves by finally snapping up Lee Grant from his old club, Sheffield Wednesday, after having up to FOUR bids rejected.

“We now have two quality goalkeepers in the camp and, for the Championship, to have two really strong contenders fighting for the number one jersey shows we are heading the right direction as a club,” said Laws.

“Brian is going to have some competition next season and I’m sure he’ll relish that.

“Diego is a great guy, but he is just not at the level we want him to be.

“That’s not his fault, that’s just the standards we are looking for and Lee certainly hits that mark.

“Lee is at an age where he has his best years ahead of him. He is very agile, very quick and is probably as fit as any outfield player we currently have at the club.”

Laws added: “Brian will pull out all the stops to be at number one himself.

"It’s a win-win situation for me as a manager because I know I am going to have a good goalkeeper who is tremendous between the posts and he knows he is going to be looking over his shoulder.

“Brian has obviously been here a long time and I am expecting him to start the season.

"It’s his shirt to lose. It’s about competition that we have now.

"But Lee knows the score and he’s very confident in his own ability.”

Blackburn have 5000 real fans, that's what they were getting, near the top of the old second div, while burnley were getting 8000 near the bottom, that's until Jake walker flashed his cash and you all came crawling out of the woodwork, you see, we remember the old days, you can try to paper over the cracks, but to those who remember, your still the same old pile of sh!te!!

I dont suppport em never have and never will. Gates ? What about Burnley's 4-5,000 averages over several years in the mid/late 80s including numerous gates of 2-3,000?
As for JW he invested monet IN his home-town club instead of siphoning it off unlike certain people.

Get yerself down t' Turf and hand over £512 for an n-power season ticket. A certain chap down there will be very pleased to relieve of your hard-earned cash;-)
