Laws eyes the start of Burnley revival

BRIAN Laws is confident that Burnley’s victory over West Ham United on Saturday can be the start of a revival in form.

The Clarets had gone 12 Premier League games without a win – nine of which came while Owen Coyle was still in charge – before goals from David Nugent and Danny Fox handed them a 2-1 triumph against the Hammers at the weekend.

The result lifted Burnley out of the relegation zone and back above Coyle’s new club Bolton, and Laws’ side now travel to Fulham tomorrow night hoping to build on it.

“Now we’ve got that result under our belt we can march on,” said Laws, who registered his first win as Clarets boss after an unwanted start of four straight defeats.

“We can start believing going to Fulham that we can get a result there.

“We said from the start that these five games were going to be the turning point of our season. Which direction are we going in?

“The important one is we’ve got that first win that we wanted, so onwards and upwards.

“We’ve got to keep believing that this is the start of our season.”

Asked if his side had just secured a massive win, Laws twice jokingly requested for the question to be repeated – not because he was hard of hearing, but because he liked the sound of it.

I think Laws has done the right things, tackled the right areas that needed handling. It could be he's a better manager than Coyle for this kind of situation.
Keen to see what kind of performance they can put on at Fulham, if they have really turned the corner a good run could take them out of trouble and let everyone relax a bit.

Wasn't happy when he was appointed but i've been proved wrong.
Also great to see the fans are right behind him.

Nice to get that winning feeling back again although must admit to a trembling in the sphincter muscle during last 15 mins especially when they put up extra 5 mins. Nice to see some quick throw out from the Beast and deft first touches from Nugent plus nicely taken goal. Lovely goal line clearance from Cort and what a superb assist & free-kick from Fox New signings paying off already, baffled with Blake off not being replaced by Eagles, still I'm not the manager & he should know better than me

There's a very naughty retort when mentioning swallow, but won't tarnish the page by quoting it except to say "Well being a ghost & sceptic I suppose your cup is always half empty" Perhaps too big a mouth when throwing out negative one line comments (or is it the drink at the cup). Sounds like someone who doesn't even know where The Turf is!!!

Sceptic what is up with you? All i can think is your not a big fan of laws and not prepared to give the guy a chance. Look back at the games hes been in charge of since he took over. The Man U game , yes we lost but played very well and deserved something from the game and there appeared to be some back bone in our defence. The Bolton game we were a little dis-jointed due to losing two key players in quick time and in fairness we didnt really threaten them. The Chelsea game , well again we deserved something from it. You can see how he is trying to build a solid defence whilst still trying to play football. Remember he has had to come in , get to know the players , get his backroom staff in place and tweek the way we were playing in order to give us that chance to stay in the premiership as well as strengthen the team. It takes time for the jigsaw pieces to come together and fall into place.Laws knows that with OC jumping ship mid season it did not leave him a great deal of time to set all those pieces in place but you can see he is 100% committed along with his staff and the players to stay in the premiership. So sceptic just get behind the team and show support. UTC

Brian inherited a poor situation from Coyle and was then hit by some tough PL games. I retract my criticism of Fox provided he can keep his form.
Brian will do better than his critics thinh but pateince is in order
