Edgar: My heart was set on coming to Burnley

NEW Clarets defender David Edgar revealed how he turned down an offer from Newcastle, because his heart was set on Burnley.

The 22-year-old Canadian was ready to walk away from the relegated Magpies when club officials made a late attempt to get him to stay.

But even though Newcastle is the only club he has ever known, and the team he grew up supporting through dad Eddie, a former goalkeeper, and family ties in Jarrow, a four-year deal at newly promoted Burnley was too good to resist.

“I got an offer from Newcastle a couple of weeks ago, but to be honest my mind was on Burnley anyway,” said Edgar, who made 11 appearances last season, scoring one goal.

“I love Newcastle - I have done since I was a little kid - so it was tough, but when it came to football there was no other option for me.

“At this point in my career I felt it was time to move on and the gaffer here was so enthusiastic about having me, the way he wants to play football and how he sees me playing, and it was just too good to turn down.

“I said to my friends and family that it’s good to be at a place you’re wanted, and the gaffer definitely made me feel like that.”

According to the barcodes website he went because they could'nt guarantee him a place on the bench????

This means that the Dingles have signed a player who could'nt get into a Chumpionship team?

You know what I mean though, dont you Rayzer?. I know you are on the ball fella, with all things Claret. I have no problem with that, anyone Burnley born and bread that supports Burnley - I say respect to them - better than supporting Utd or Liverpool. Its amazing how many people support Utd or Liverpool in our area without manc or scouse accents!!
You know who I mean though, dont you bud?!

Never heard of this fella til the Dingles signed him. Also never heard of this no-mark from Doncaster who they are after. These are not Premier standard players! If I was a Dingle I would be seriously worried that Flood is looking to pocket his £3o million for one season in the Prem and will be happy to get elegated.
