STOKE may be desperate for the points in their Premier League survival bid today, but Ashley Barnes insists the Clarets are just as motivated to get back to winning ways.

After an incredible season that has left Burnley on the verge of securing a top-seven finish, Barnes and the Clarets can look at the relegation battle grateful that they are not involved.

But that doesn't mean that they will be taking it easy at the Bet365 Stadium this afternoon and after seeing a five-game winning run come to an end against Chelsea on Thursday night, Barnes is desperate to get back to winning ways.

"It’s going to be a completely different game but every game in this league is a tough game," the 28-year-old said.

"It will be a different challenge for us and hopefully one we can come out of with three points.

"It’s big for them but for us we need to keep fighting, we want to finish as high as possible and we’ll keep fighting until the end of the season."

The Clarets are 24 points better off than Stoke and they've accelerated away from the chasing pack from Leicester down in recent weeks with that winning run, the club's longest in the top flight in half a century.

"It’s been massive. In this league you don’t find many who win five on the bounce aside from the big boys," Barnes said.

"We’ve done that, it’s an achievement for us in the dressing room and hopefully we can kick on and win the last four."

Barnes took his personal tally to nine for the season on Thursday, although he didn't know much about it with Johann Berg Gudmundsson's drive clipping him on the heel, with the deflection leaving Thibaut Courtois stranded.

"I’ll take that one, that’s a strikers goal for sure. It just came off the back of my heel but every goal counts," Barnes said.

"I’ve tried to run in behind for Johann to slide it through but he’s taken a shot and it’s come off the heel, I’ll take them all day long."
