SEAN Dyche believes Burnley's transfer business this month could go to the wire after revealing 'there's a couple of situations we're looking at'.

The Clarets made their first move in the January window a week ago, bringing Tottenham's French winger Georges-Kevin Nkoudou in on loan for the rest of the season.

But Dyche is hopeful of further adding to his squad, with a centre back on the radar while the Clarets are probably still short out wide following Robbie Brady's season-ending injury.

While the Turf Moor chief said there were discussions ongoing over new recruits, he admitted they weren't necessarily moving forward at great pace.

"There’s a couple of situations we’re looking at but to say they’re progressing is so difficult in this window, so we’ll see," Dyche said.

Burnley brought three players in last January, with Joey Barton signing on a free transfer at the start of the month but prolonged chases for Robbie Brady and Ashley Westwood only came to fruition on deadline day, with Brady joining from Norwich City for £13million and Westwood from Aston Villa for £5million.

Those late deals were complicated by the fact the Clarets were in action on January 31 last year, beating Leicester City at Turf Moor, with the then record signing of Brady announced over the tannoy at half-time.

It will be a similar scenario for Dyche and the deal-makers at the club this season, with the Clarets facing Newcastle at St James's Park on Wednesday, January 31, and the Burnley boss believes any more new additions are likely to be late in the window.

"If often is, just by the nature of the January window I think," Dyche said.

"No-one wants it like that but it often is because the phone calls you make arrive with the media about four minutes later to see if they can make a market, so that makes it difficult."

There could yet be departures this month as well, with Dyche refusing to rule out the possibility of Jon Walters leaving on loan.

The 34-year-old was a £2million addition from Stoke City in the summer but a knee injury has seen his opportunities limited, with the Republic of Ireland international playing just 37 minutes of Premier League football for the Clarets so far.

He has been linked with a loan move to Championship strugglers Sunderland, but when asked if that was likely Dyche said: "Not at the moment.".

Asked if the move could happen later in the window the Clarets chief added: "We'll see."

The return to fitness of striker Chris Wood could allow Walters to make the move away.
