BLACKBURN 1 BURNLEY 2 - MARCH 9, 2014

In Sean Dyche's first full season in charge the Clarets were on their way to the most unlikely of promotions to the Premier League, but even as they closed in on a top two finish they had a ghost to lay to rest to cap a memorable campaign.

In September Jordan Rhodes had equalised five minutes from time at Turf Moor to extend Rovers' unbeaten run over the Clarets.

Despite Burnley's lofty position in the Championship table it looked like being the same old story for 73 minutes, with Rovers in front through another strike from Rhodes midway through the first half.

But with 17 minutes to go Jason Shackell equalised and when Danny Ings hit the winner six minutes later in front of the travelling Clarets it sparked scenes of unbridled joy. The 35 year wait for a derby win was over.

BURNLEY 1 BLACKBURN 0 - MARCH 5, 2016

Since the hoodoo was broken it's been the Clarets who have become the dominant force, both in East Lancashire football generally and on derby day.

They were back in the Championship in the 2015/16 season but another fine campaign under Dyche would end with them lifting the second tier title, with a double against their old rivals secured along the way.

Lancashire Telegraph:

The Clarets again won at Ewood in October thanks to Scott Arfield's fine strike, and in March they made it two 1-0 wins over Rovers for the season when Andre Gray netted an early penalty.

On the balance of play across both games Rovers could perhaps feel aggrieved, but this Clarets side were made of granite and they made sure bragging rights remained in Burnley, with Joey Barton instrumental in both games as he relished the role of pantomime villain.

BLACKBURN 1 BURNLEY 4 - OCTOBER 8, 1960

The Clarets twice secured thumping 4-1 wins at Ewood in the 1960s as the two sides were regular goes in England's top division and in cup competition as well.

As Burnley were crowned champions of England in 1959/60 they won 1-0 at Turf Moor, but lost twice at Ewood in league and cup action, having squandered a 3-0 lead in the FA Cup quarter-final at home to be dragged to a replay.

Revenge came early the following season as the Clarets ran riot down the road. John Connelly scored twice in the first half before Jimmy Adamson and Jimmy Robson added the finishing touches in the final 10 minutes.
