SEAN Dyche has hailed Burnley's Carabao Cup East Lancashire derby with Blackburn Rovers as a 'brilliant one for the fans'.
The Clarets were paired against their bitter rivals in Thursday night's draw and they will make the trip to Ewood Park on Wednesday, August 23 (7.45pm).
The two teams last met in the 2015/16 season in the Championship when Burnley did the double on their way to the title and promotion to the top flight, and there are now two divisions between the sides.
Asked about being drawn against Rovers, Dyche said: "It's a brilliant one for the fans. I wasn't born and bred where we are so I don't understand the depth of it, but it's brilliant for the fans."
