BURNLEY have had a £5million bid for Hull City midfielder Sam Clucas rejected.

The 26-year-old scored three goals in 37 Premier League appearances for the Tigers last season and was one of their shining lights in a season that ended in relegation.

He signed a three-year deal last August so Hull are under no pressure to sell Clucas, who can also operate out wide.

But the player could be tempted by a return to the Premier League if the two clubs can strike a deal, although it is understood Hull could be looking for double Burnley's initial over.

Sean Dyche was asked about links with Clucas and Ryan Shawcross when he faced the press this afternoon.

He said: "It's part of what is the Premier League, and the Championship now, you get links with everyone.

"People are trying to self link themselves to clubs, agents linking players to clubs, sometimes to start a market.

"A market that is non-existent can be started by someone linking someone to a club.

"A lot is wrong, that's how it goes. We’re used to it."

Asked specifically about Clucas and Shawcross, he said: "There might not be, there might be."
